November 2, 2010: Republican Wishful Thinking?
Are all the polls too good to be true? Are all the pundits right? Are all good men, and women, coming to the aid of their country? Will there be a Republican landslide two weeks from now?
If we believe the experts, that sweep is very feasible.
Just consider: Rasmussen: Republicans may gain 55 seats in the House; ABC News: 63 Dem House seats in peril; Barone: Dem careers threatened by Obamacare vote; Weekly Standard: Dennis Kucinich in trouble. According to The Hill.com, even the Grand Poobah, the Democrat head honcho himself, President Obama, thinks “15 Senate seats [are] still up for grabs.” (Source–Drudge Report, 10/18/10)
Furthermore, Gallup headlined on October 18th, “GOP Holds Solid Leads in Voter Preferences,” those leads ranging from a fairly decent 5% up to, depending on turnout, an astounding 17% in generic polls.
It would seem the biggest danger to Republicans at this point would be overconfidence, a cocksuredness in winning the imminent election that makes them lazy, non-voters.
However, that scenario is highly unlikely . . .
