The Naked Hypocrisy of NOW

The Naked Hypocrisy of NOW

The National Organization for Women (NOW) prides itself on its membership of 500,000 and its 550 chapters in 50 states and the District of Columbia. That’s very impressive.

According to its website, the 44 year old organization defines its goal as “to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society; secure abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and promote equality and justice in our society.”

An impressive and wide-ranging mission, indeed.

Among other recent “hot topics,” NOW posted an endorsement of the recent march on Washington by tens of thousands of bused-in union demonstrators, its opposition to the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy toward homosexuals, and a rousing cheer of congratulation to “Carolyn Maloney, Ann McLane Kuster and All Endorsed Winners from Tuesday [September 14th] Primaries.”

The part of that cheer that explains who and what NOW and its women really are is contained in the three words, “all endorsed winners.”

The National Organization for Women may be in the business of promoting women but they don’t support or endorse just any women. Recipients of their support must fit its left wing template or else they’re shunned.

When NOW vows ”to take action to bring about equality for all women,” it doesn’t really mean all women but rather those women who tow the line, who fit that template, who believe in abortion, who love homosexuals because they’re homosexuals, and, should they be candidates for political office, love Obama, Obamacare, and Obamanomics.

Many other non-conforming women candidates, usually Republicans, were consigned to NOW oblivion. . .
