More Updates: Joe Arpaio and Lindsay Lohan

More Updates: Joe Arpaio and Lindsay Lohan

Along with Rush Limbaugh, the Fox News Channel, and the Drudge Report, “America’s toughest sheriff,” Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona has to be near the top of President Barack Hussein Obama’s Enemies List, that is, if the president maintains an enemies list ala Trickie Dick Nixon.

He may have a hit list, instead.

For more than two decades, Limbaugh has been the radio bane of liberal existences and Democrat presidents. Fox has handled that chore on cable television for sixteen years and Matt Drudge has been the leading internet critic of those same people for almost fifteen.

Lately, though, Sheriff Joe seems to have taken over the top slot in the pantheon of conservatives causing severe diarrhea for liberals.

In a word, libs literally hate influential conservatives for what they are, for what they say, and for what they do and Arpaio is, and says, and does what he believes is morally true and legally right. It can be a dirty job but somebody has to do it since the Obama crowd won’t.

The seventy-nine year old son of Italian immigrants, an Army vet and former D.C. and Las Vegas cop, Arpaio served 25 years with the D.E.A. and was elected five times as Maricopa County sheriff.

When it comes to law enforcement, he evidently knows whereof he speaks and that’s what bugs the hell out of the Obama adminstration and Attorney General Eric Holder.

Over the course of the last four years, Sheriff Joe and his staff have been investigated on at least five separate occasions, accused of abuse of power, bias, illegally accepting gifts, and campaign fraud.

In every instance, Arpaio was cleared and the charges were either dropped or consigned to limbo pending future efforts to bring him down one way or another.

People with experience and knowledge who follow the law tend to bother left wingers.

Sheriff Joe has been dogged with almost every charge imaginable.

Most of those charges were related to his dastardly treatment of prisoners at the Maricopa County jail.

Arpaio had the audacity to dress prisoners in pink outfits to calm them down, served them bologna sandwiches to show them jail wasn’t a Mcdonalds, housed them in tents to disillusion them if they had thought prison was a country club, and utilized volunteer chain gangs to reinforce the concept of payback to society.

In addition, Arpaio has been accused of using common sense–profiling potential miscreants and rounding them up in raids which have netted thousands of criminal, illegal aliens and saved countless Arizona lives.

He has also been the subject of death threats and a failed recall attempt but has regularly trounced anyone foolish enough to run against him.

Testimony to the depth of liberal antipathy toward Arpaio, extreme leftist George Soros has pledged $10 million to defeat him in the next election, all because of two political issues: the sheriff’s perceived unkindness toward a principal Obama constituency, Latinos, and his persistance in trying to prove–or disprove–allegations concerning the president’s eligibility to hold that office.

The good news in all this, today’s update, is that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is the odds-on favorite to win again in November and, God willing, will be able for four more years to enforce United States immigration regulations and statutes the federal government has neglected to enforce.

Of significantly less consequence than a patriot’s determination to do his duty at all costs and at the nether end of America’s societal spectrum is Lindsay Lohan who is emblematic of the state of mind that exists in America today. The ultra-confused, disturbed actress, singer, model, druggie, and ex-con can’t even figure out whether she is heterosexual, bi-sexual, or a lesbian. . .

Tales of 3 Judges: Prosser, Walker, Bolton

Tales of 3 Judges: Prosser, Walker, Bolton

. . . In a nation governed not by the people or their elected representatives but more and more by an overbearing, tyrannical federal judiciary, it is likely Judge Bolton’s decision to gut Arizona’s SB 1070 and the 9th Circuit’s affirmation and that Judge Walker’s transparent bias against California’s Proposition 8 will be overlooked and upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. As for Wisconsin’s Justice Prosser, SCOTUS is liable to find he stole the election.

Proofs that God Is Good

Proofs that God Is Good

Sometimes in the topsy-turvy world in which we live it becomes easy to believe in a Prime Mover, a Creator Who set the universe in motion and Who then sat back, detached from it all, and let us do our thing. That may be the case but recent political developments may suggest He had His hand in the mix.

(That’s a vast overstatement since He also gave us Obama but it’s nice to think, anyway.)

What happened to Rahm Emanuel in Chicago on Monday was even worse than what happened to Chicago on Sunday when the Packers beat the Bears 21-14. For the Bears, there’s always next year for another shot at the Super Bowl. For Rahm, he was left stewing in his fish heads and regretting he ever left the cozy confines of his Chief of Staff office in the White House.

On Monday, the Cook County Appellate Court by a vote of 2-1 threw Emanuel off the ballot for the upcoming Chicago mayoralty election for failure to meet residency requirements for the office. Later, adding an exclamation mark to that decision, the Chicago Board of Elections ordered two million Rahm-less ballots for Election Day.

Team Emanuel immediately announced an intent to appeal the Appellates to get their boy back in contention for that big chunk of Chicago pie that is the mayor’s office with all its perks and patronage and corruption: http://tiny.cc/tpe94

God’s hand or no, what made the Rahm-dump even sweeter was that it followed by less than 3 months Illinois voters turning over the old senate seat of their adopted son, Barack, to Republicans.

Also recently sweet was MSNBC’s finally counting out Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown.” . . .

What's a Mother to Do? Part Two: Saving Sheriff Joe

What's a Mother to Do? Part Two: Saving Sheriff Joe

Mother’s Problem Number Two: Saving Sheriff Joe

For those unacquainted with Sheriff Joe, i.e., Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, he’s the law enforcement official most hated by the Mexican drug cartels who have put a million dollar bounty on his head because he’s afflicted with an odd quirk: He insists on doing his job and enforcing the immigration laws of the State of Arizona and the United States of America.

Sheriff Joe is also the law enforcement official most hated by the Obama administration and Eric Holder’s Justice Department who haven’t, as yet, put a bounty on his head and instead harass and threaten him for the same reason, his odd quirk about doing his job and enforcing the immigration laws of the State of Arizona and the United States of America.

It’s as presumptuous of me to suggest saving the tough and independent Sheriff Joe as it is for the DOJ to suggest he cease and desist from repeatedly rounding up Mexican and other illegal aliens in his state and incarcerating them in his tent prison. There they are decked out in pretty pink garb, served adequate but far from sumptuous meals, and expected to behave as prisoners, not as indulged guests of the state.

It’s presumptuous but I’ll do it anyway.

Long a burr under the saddles of everyone from the ACLU to La Raza to every other illegal alien rights group in the nation, Sheriff Joe, the self-described “America’s toughest sheriff,” was issued a second ultimatum last week insisting he “comply with a Justice Department request to explain his office’s ‘operations, policies and procedures’ involving the arrest and detention of Hispanics.” . . .

Cojones and Our Ruling Enemy

Cojones and Our Ruling Enemy

Whatever the Left says about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, and they say a great deal, they can never say she fails to speak her mind.

You betcha, she does!

Like VP Joe Biden, but devoid of Biden’s inanity, Palin tends to think out loud as she did on “Fox News Sunday” in commenting on President Obama and his administration’s selective enforcement of the law.

When Governor Jan Brewer and the state of Arizona elected to enforce federal immigration law since the federal government has failed to do so, Obama and his Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security denounced the Arizona statute, SB1070, without bothering to read it, then went to court to sue a sovereign state.

Essentially, the administration contended that Arizona had no right to usurp federal law which superseded state law. They won a temporary injunction levied by United States District Court Judge Susan Bolton.

Governor Palin objected not only to the lawsuit but to the federal government’s failure to enforce its own laws equally. Arizona was deemed not in compliance but the 31 American cities which are self-designated “sanctuary cities” and which have instituted ordinances, effectively local laws, in violation of federal laws were given a free pass.

Among other issues, Palin addressed that inequity, that selective law enforcement, and denounced the president as lacking “the cojones” which Governor Brewer has: http://tiny.cc/w6sgp

Aside from the technical impossibility of a woman possessing those male appurtenances, Palin’s remark is right on the money. (Incidentally, before liberals start attacking Palin for having a potty mouth, then-U.N. ambassador Madelyn Albright used the same graphic terminology in reference to Cubans back in 1996.)

Obama and Company wink at cities . . .

The Eve of Arizona's SB1070: The Eve of Destruction?

The Eve of Arizona's SB1070: The Eve of Destruction?

On the eve of implementation of SB1070, Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law, United States District Court Judge Susan Bolton, a Clinton appointee, issued her decision on the federal government’s suit seeking an injunction against or the voiding of SB1070.

In a nutshell, illegal aliens won, the American people lost, although we haven’t lost everything. The judge gutted the principal features of the law but allowed some provisions to stand.

Also, there will be appeals, first to Bolton to re-consider her decision and then probably to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals which is the most liberal circuit court in the country but which has sided with Arizona on similar issues in the past.

There were high hopes that Judge Bolton would find for Arizona since she had voiced skepticism as to whether SB1070 actually does pre-empt federal immigration law and whether the feds should be trying to overturn Arizona’s right to be “inhospitable” to illegal aliens but politics eventually prevailed.

Okay, so what’s out and what’s still in? . . .

A Little Levity, Government Style

A Little Levity, Government Style

We all need a little levity in our lives. In these trying times, a lot of levity would be even better. And who else can better provide (unintended) levity when Letterman and Leno aren’t on than politicians?

The following may not be knee-slapping funny as in the hilarity of Letterman or Leno but that duo is rarely hilarious, anyway. This is more akin to government hilarity.

. Alaska and Polar Bears: Now we all know Alaska is a big state, all 663,268 square miles of it, but even Alaska has its limits and when the federal government decides it wants Alaska to set aside 167,166 square miles of The Last Frontier State, Alaskans tend to get their collective backs up. . .

Bucking La Raza in Arizona

Bucking La Raza in Arizona

Imagine a school in Ciudad Mexico with an ethnic studies class that taught the gringo perspective on Mexican history, that Santa Anna was a brutal bandito, that Mexico was a backward country, that La Raza was a group of insurrectionist thugs.

The school would forthwith be closed down if not burned down and it’s very doubtful United Nations “human rights experts” would attempt to intervene as they have with Arizona’s initiatives on ending the abuses with ethnic studies.

It is that type of curriculum that the Arizona legislature and governor Jan Brewer have targeted with a new ethnic studies law which, contrary to the opinions of Hispanic activists, doesn’t prohibit such studies but rather mandates that the courses be open to all students and provide a balanced perspective.

Absent those mandates, according to Arizona’s superintendent of public instruction Tom Horne, such courses are patently divisive, foster resentment, and are more reminiscent of the segregationist Old South than to modern day America.

Illustrating how bad things have gotten in Tucson schools with ethnic studies, Horne recounted an incident at an assembly program. . .

Cops, Race, and the Law

Cops, Race, and the Law

“A policeman’s lot is not a happy one” wrote Arthur Sullivan of Gilbert and Sullivan fame in The Pirates of Penzance.

And that was a century before Arizona’s new immigration law was signed by Governor Jan Brewer. Life under the new statute is bound to get unhappier for cops, sheriffs, state troopers, and other lawman in the Grand Canyon State after July 29th, 2010, its effective date since the eyes of the country and the world will be focused on their every action.

That scrutiny will be aimed at insuring that the law is implemented as written, that no one will be stopped and searched based simply on the hue of their skin. That would be profiling which is a no-no.

That central provision of SB 1070 is a feature never mentioned by the likes of Al Sharpton who is hell bent on getting the law repealed even before it becomes effective so he and other race mongers can claim a victory along with the publicity they crave.

Fat chance, Reverend Al.

Sharpton and his ilk should look closer to home if they want to complain about racism and point to the New York Police Department and its crime statistics. Those NYPD stats aren’t any more racist than Arizona’s SB 1070 but facts and truth have never been an obstacle to Sharpton before so why start now? . . .

Nervy News #5: Felipe Calderon

Nervy News #5: Felipe Calderon

It’s common courtesy for a guest invited into someone’s home to be gracious, non-judgemental, and not contumely. Similarly, it’s common sense that the homeowner also not tolerate rude and insulting behavior on the part of said guest.

The President of Mexico has been visiting the White House–the American peoples’ house–and he engaged in notably un-diplomatic behavior, markedly rude behavior, and the current caretaker of our house thought so little of his fellow countrymen that he refused to call him on it.

In a joint, two question, press conference in the Rose Garden on Wednesday, President Felipe Calderon criticized the Arizona law on illegal immigrants. “Many of them, [illegals whom he prefers to call “migrants”] despite their significant contribution to the economy and to the society of the United States, still live in the shadows and, occasionally, as in Arizona, they even face discrimination,” Calderon said.

Instead of defending Arizonans and politely suggesting Calderon had outworn his welcome by attacking the law of a sovereign state which happens to mirror United States’ statutes, the caretaker concurred with the Mexican leader and spoke of a possible civil rights suit against Arizona: http://tiny.cc/14afv . . .

Bordering on Stupid

Bordering on Stupid

Amid the ongoing border babble, one question is rarely asked or addressed, namely does the United States even want to have secure and inviolable borders. For all intents and purposes, it doesn’t seem as if we do, at least not on the federal level.

It’s worthwhile to remember that the porous border problem existed long before Barack Obama took office. President George W. Bush for 8 years showed no inclination to seal our southern border and Obama is simply continuing that policy of inaction.

Whether based on purely political considerations, catering to the Hispanic vote, or business interests, staffing menial jobs with millions of illegal immigrants, both Bush and Obama seemed to agree that an open border was in their best interests and the interests of their respective parties.

Yet, the debate continues with Arizona’s new illegal immigration law merely accenting the issue.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi . . .

What's Wrong with These Pictures?

What's Wrong with These Pictures?

Racial segregation committed against white children: The black principal of Dicken Elementary School in Ann Arbor, Michigan had a wonderful idea for his school’s AA Lunch Bunch, a segregated, all-black group of students: He took them on a field trip to meet an African-American rocket scientist.

Upon returning to Dicken, Principal Mike Madison heard boos coming from the fifth graders who had been left behind. According to those students and their parents, Madison tore into the boo-ers, lecturing them on race issues and belittling a Muslim girl who complained about discrimination.

A district spokesman characterized the interplay with the other students as a “discussion” but admitted that Madison was “passionate about it.” In a letter to the community, the passionate principal admitted that “In hindsight, this field trip could have been approached and arranged in a better way:” http://tiny.cc/i2hbb . . .

"A Nation of Immigrants"

"A Nation of Immigrants"

We all know the devil can cite scripture for his purpose and that words can be twisted out of all proportion from their original meaning and intent.

Such is the case with the term “a nation of immigrants” which has become a catch phrase of the illegal immigration, illegal migration, undocumented workers now demonstrating nationwide for reform of America’s immigration laws.

Aside from those “nations” which don’t deserve that designation by virtue of having no defined borders or no interest in or capability of defending their borders, the United States of America has some of the less stringent immigration laws on the planet.

Post 9/11 and much too late, we tightened up visa, immigration, and citizenship policies but it’s worth noting that all of that tightening relates to legal immigrants, those willing to wait on line, be patient, pay the relevant fees and hope for admission into our great land. . .

Mexicans in America: Segunda Parte--MEChA

Mexicans in America: Segunda Parte--MEChA

Yesterday’s first installment of this re-published series focused on Aztlan, the mythical place; today’s Part Two deals with the movement called MEChA.

I’ve personally seen illegals in action and I can say that Mexicans, and most other Latinos, are damned hard workers.

Whether they arrived via wading across the Rio Grande or by running across the Sonoran or Chihuahuan Deserts, by being trucked in, or by any other means, their entrance onto our shores was not an easy one, in most cases. From the southwest they then migrated north and east and west and take jobs that Americans, we are told, don’t want, from farm laborers, to factory workers, to restaurant workers, even nannies.

If I were in their positions in their home countries, immersed in poverty and politically corrupt regimes, their families barely eking out existences in fetid cities and on dismal farms, I would probably do the same, that is, illegally enter that rich nation of the gringos, work hard, live meagerly, and ship bundles of American dollars back home to help keep their loved ones alive. . .

Mexicans in America: Primera Parte--Aztlan

Mexicans in America: Primera Parte--Aztlan

. . . “MEChA, an acronym for the separatist Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or the Student Movement for Aztlan, has chapters in ninety-percent of California’s high schools and colleges. Their stated goal is to re-claim America’s Southwest and other areas for Mexico and to re-establish the kingdom of Aztlan, the mythical place of origin of the Aztecs, “after they emerged from the bowels of the Earth through seven caves.” (Quoted from Aztlan.net. That MEChAn website indicates it is “published in Los Angeles, California USA (Aztlan).” Incidentally, the national symbol for MEChA is a fierce eagle wielding a machete and a stick of dynamite.”

SB 1070: Arizona's Illegal Alien Law

SB 1070: Arizona's Illegal Alien Law

With the continuing and worsening uproar over Arizona’s new immigration law, SB 1070, it might be worthwhile to actually read said law before demonstrating or rioting over it.

Aside from the incongruity of the spectacle of illegal aliens protesting against a public law not scheduled to go into effect for months, a look at the text of that statute might alleviate some of their overreactive concerns.

It’s a simple law, really, as far as laws go, and largely devoid of the legalistic jargon that often obfuscates what politicians write. The section titled, “Article 8. Enforcement of Immigration Laws.” and subtitled, “Cooperation and Assistance in Enforcement of Immigration Laws; Indemnification,” represents a straightforward piece of legislation: . . .

Horses' Petuzzis Ride into Arizona

Horses' Petuzzis Ride into Arizona

“Three Border Patrol agents are assaulted on the average day at or near the U.S.A border. Someone is kidnapped every 35 hours in Phoenix, Ariz., often by agents of alien smuggling organizations. And one-in-five American teenagers last year used some type of illegal drug, many of which were imported across the unsecured U.S.-Mexico border:” http://bit.ly/9wExK1

That excerpt of a CNS report based on DOJ figures doesn’t even mention the number of assaults and murders of both civilians and law enforcement officials, the high-speed chases of criminal suspects, the school over-crowding, the closed hospitals, the high costs across the board for Arizonans to be the unwilling hosts of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from Mexico.

Yet, Mexico treats undocumented visitors traversing its Third World environs en route to the USA as invaders and condemns Arizona’s new immigration law which is far more lenient than Mexico’s and simply codifies on a state level already existing and unenforced federal laws.

As expected, the Commander in Chief in Charge of Defending Illegality jumped into the Arizona controversy as did San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome who declared Arizona off limits as did the usual agitators such as Al Sharpton, all insisting that Arizona be blacklisted as a pariah state which should be shunned by all civilized peoples.

Perhaps the worst attack has . . .

Nervy News #1

Nervy News #1

We’ve all heard that dog bites man isn’t newsworthy but that man bites dog is. Likewise, we’ve heard of other stories which are so banal we wonder why the editor publishes them and stories which strike a chord as classic examples of overreaching and obnoxiousness.

One of the latter comes to us from the benighted state of Mexifornia, from the bi-lingual city of Los Angeles.

California Cardinal Condemns Arizona Immigration Law: Cardinal Roger Mahony of the Los Angeles archdiocese has ripped the content of the bill just sent to Governor Jan Brewer as encouraging “German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques” since it requires suspected illegal aliens to provide identification papers showing they have a right to be in our country.

Reasoning that illegal immigrants are really nice people . . .

You Go, Sheriff Joe! Part Two

You Go, Sheriff Joe! Part Two

. . . They also don’t appreciate his brand of law enforcement, not mollycoddling the thousands of illegals and other miscreants he rounds up and incarcerates and treats like prisoners rather than as wards of the state to be indulged and entertained.

He dresses his prisoners in shocking pink underwear to soothe them, feeds them spare prison fare–two fifteen cent meals a day without salt and pepper– plays Sinatra and opera on his in-house radio station, houses some in tents, and has used all-female and all-youth chain gangs.

Most recently he has come up with a unique idea which will no doubt infuriate Amnesty International and the American Civil Liberties Union which already oppose his tactics.

The idea could be summarized as, “You wanna watch, you gotta pedal,” meaning that any prisoners who want to watch more television must pedal exercise bikes to generate the electricity needed to power their tvs: http://bit.ly/cxSyXB

Under his pedaling policy, Maricopa inmates . . .
