Obamacare and Abortion, the NHS and Catastrophe
In touting what eventually came to be called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, better known as Obamacare, President Barack Hussein Obama pledged that the measure patterned after Britain’s National Health Service, the NHS, contained no provisions for federal government funding of abortions.
He lied, just as he lied when he tied Obamacare to Romneycare–coincidentally after Mitt Romney became a serious threat to his re-election next year.
The question of the constitutionality of the PPACA, the same law which then-Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi infamously said Congress had to be pass “so you can find out what’s in it,” will be taken up in the current session of the Supreme Court.
With four confirmed liberals in his corner, including a ringer–Associate Justice Elena Kagan who was deeply involved in creating a defense of Obamacare as his Solicitor General and who so far has refused to recuse herself in the matter–Obama must be fairly confident in the PPACA being upheld as constitutional.
Until today, it was doubtful government lawyers would push for a separate ruling on Obamacare’s CLASS feature, the long-term insurance proposal which was effectively scrapped on Friday by HHS Secretary Sebellius due to doubts as to its fiscally solvency. CLASS was revived on Monday when the president revealed he was still committed to it.
Aside from the question of whether this administration knows what it’s doing, the long-term solvency and the sanity of the entire 2,409 page PPACA monstrosity have been as dubious from the outset, as dubious as the merits of our democratic republican government seizing control of one-sixth of the national economy and establishing itself as the arbiter of life and death.
Nancy Pelosi may still be in love with the president’s legacy issue but few others are confident in his pledges especially regarding abortion and even fewer comprehend the weird rationale of using the crumbling, antiquated NHS as the Obamacare model.
In what must have been a stinging no-confidence vote, 15 members of the Democrat Party joined 236 Republicans in the House last week to pass the Protect Life Act to amend the PPACA. The legislation would prohibit expenditure of any funds for abortion and would hold harmless health care providers who refuse to provide abortion services on moral grounds.
As much as it is pro-life legislation, the Protect Life Act is a no-trust measure. It merely re-inforces Obama’s hollow promise which was as trustworthy as his multiple other pledges. Notwithstanding statistics showing 67% of Americans oppose abortion funding, the pro-abortion Democrat Senate will surely kill it or, should Senate Democrats have an unlikely attack of conscience, Obama will certainly veto it.
It was anticipated that the most pro-abortion president in America’s history would continue his killing ways and, as bizarre as it was, developing Obamacare based on Britain’s socialized medical program fits tidily with the NHS in that respect: The NHS goes out of its way to make abortion available to all comers, consciences be damned.
The National Health Service is flawed in so many ways that it makes one wonder whether the president chose it to emulate as some sort of macabre joke on America. . .

Updates on recent articles, two of which are sickening, two of which are pathetic, all of which are indicative of a world in dire need of a reality check-up:
BABY TOM IS DEAD. He didn’t have to die. Well, yes he did. You see, Baby Tom Godwin missed the cut. He was born 12 days too soon according to the British National Health Service’s minimum requisite of 24 weeks gestation and so NHS doctors at Southend Hospital, Southend, Essex, England, left him unattended, untreated, and uncared-for.
Baby Tom lived for 46 minutes.
His mum, Tracy Godwin, age 31, had just given birth to her first child and was bewildered. “We couldn’t understand why no one was helping him,” she said. Her confusion was somewhat remarkable considering that she–and Tom, briefly– lived in England where the NHS–the model for Obamacare–provided “universal health care,” except for people like Tom and any others it deems unworthy of care or treatment.
Poor little Tom didn’t even get the benefit of a death panel, those decision-making bodies of experts which, we’re told, will not be a feature of Obamacare. Or, maybe, unknowingly, he did. Either way, the verdict was death.

JESUS IS UNCOMFORTABLE. At least to a Minnesota lawmaker He is. “State Sen. Terri Bonoff, who is Jewish, said she feels uncomfortable when ministers mention Jesus and Christianity during prayers.” Eighty-one percent of Minnesotans are Christians but Sen. Bonoff ”said she feels uncomfortable when ministers mention Jesus and Christianity during prayers.”
When the senate Baptist chaplain, Dennis Campbell, offered a prayer mentioning Jesus Christ not once, not twice, but three times and uttered the words, “And we pray, Lord, that you help us to show reverence to the Lord Jesus Christ and the word of God today,” Bonoff was beside herself.
In high dudgeon following those offensive–if not seditious–words, Bonoff objected, demanding Campbell not be invited back and that, in the future, chaplains be required to deliver “non-denominational prayers:” http://bit.ly/ePs9tr
Something along the lines of, “Oh, Great Someone, have mercy on us” or, “Dear Mother Earth, please oversee our endeavors” might placate the good senator, and might not.

(The following are fabricated excerpts from a fabricated chat between a relative and an elderly grandmother which may soon closely resemble a conversation in many homes:)
“Hey, Grandma! How would you like to visit Doctor Jones? Just for a sitdown, unnerstand?”
“I understand but I feel fine.”
“Well, ya know, you’ve been sick in the past. Remember that gall bladder thing? And the breast cancer? And ya do have that pacemaker. And ya have been complaining about heartburn. And the ambulance had to come for you! Ya just never know about that stuff. Not to mention, Gram, well you’re 84!”
“I’m 83! And my gall bladder was removed, so, too, was the cancer, and I take Tums for my indigestion. I feel fine! You needed an ambulance when you got so drunk you fell down the cellar stairs! What’s all this about doctor sitdowns, anyway?”
“Grams, you’re 84, okay, 83 almost 84, don’t ya think it’s, well, time?”
“Time for what?”
“Umm, well, time to shuffle off to Buffalo, as they say, to umm, time you stopped sucking the med system dry? I mean, the gubmint says you’re hurting all the rest of us! Why not just die and get it over with?”
“Know what, Sonnyboy, I’m gonna outlive all of you so stick it in your ear! You out to kill me, or what?”
“Well, that’s sorta the plan, Gram.”
Call a sow’s ear a silk purse in-the-making, it’s still a sow’s ear. Calling detaching the male connector from the wall outlet is still pulling the plug.
Call a death panel a doctor sitdown or end of life care or an elder consult, it all means the same thing, the same thing for which Sarah Palin was mocked for even suggesting, the same thing the Obamians swore on all that was holy was not and would not ever be a feature of Obamacare, the same thing that was the hidden centerpiece of that monstrous 2000+ page legislation passed last year which no one read.

For the most part, things have quieted down a tad about Obamacare in the past few months as far as emanations from D.C. “progressives” are concerned–and with good reason. Those progressives, formerly known as liberals, leftists, and Democrats, prefer it that way.
Quiesence serves to enable them to perpetrate their sedition on the sly.
Senate Majority Leader Harry The Undertaker Reid is an exception to that quiesence but he’s gasping for breath in Nevada, fearful that he may follow the lead of former Democrat Majority Leader Tom Daschle and be dispatched back home. In Harry’s case that would be to beautiful, downtown Searchlight, NV to live out his days in obscurity and ignominy.
That is, unless he pulls a Daschle and instead milks his government contacts as a lobbyist.
Harry is desparate for November votes, especially from the disenchanted, the disenfranchisd, even the disembodied if he can figure a way to get dead people to the ballot box ala Chicago. So he has been stroking the disenchanted, the disenfranchised, the disembodied who amazingly feel that Obamacare does not go far enough, even if it was applauded and proclaimed “a miracle” by Fidel Castro.
Officially titled with the typical governmental mouthful, ”Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” Obamacare will ultimately, soon, incorporate a “public option.” Harry is promising, averring, pledging, (Mormons don’t swear), that, even if President Obama swore that was not part of the plan.
Rep. Barney Frank has been less evasive all along and considered the initial Obamacare Act just a foot in the door, a progressive camel’s nose in the tent, which would enable the neo-socialists in Congress to enact the public option which would effectively mean the end of private insurance coverage for everyone in the United States. . .

Like an insidious, terminal disease that invaded and is now slowly spreading throughout America’s body politic, the evil thing that is Obamacare is inexorably revealing itself for what it is and for what it was intended to be all along, in sum a pernicious usurpation of basic American rights and a government power grab and socialization of one-seventh of America’s economy.
First, they came for the auto industry, then they came for the health industry, now they’re coming for the financial industry. When Obama and Company are through with their seizures of vital sectors of American life, there will be nothing recognizable remaining.
Those millions of us who saw the deceptions, misrepresentations, and outright lies used during the grand and prolonged pitch for Obamacare aren’t to be applauded, just listened to next time!

Those people who believed that Obamacare would actually allow Americans to keep their existing medical plans and not be forced into a government-run plan have to be the dumbest people on the planet. They constitute those who were fooled by Senator and then President Obama’s transparently false promises.
That might be a harsh evaluation even though it is true. It was the scheme of the left all along, articulated by Rep. Barney Frank and others, to get the government’s foot in the door first and gradually phase in the so-called ”public option” until it became the only option, ala Britain’s National Health Service.
Some people knew that all along but Obama’s believers wouldn’t listen.

Before the passage of Obamacare, the president and his lackeys were busy denying the rumors of death panels and all the other features of the bill that people were saying would lead to government dictating medical benefits and rationing of health care to America’s sick and elderly.
Since no one actually read what National Review referred to as the “2,562 tree-killing pages” of the Obamacare monstrosity, I guess it’s not surprising to discover that those denials were a pack of lies.
Among others, deposed Senator Arlen Specter and Montana Senator Jon Tester swore that,”If there’s language in there that says the government’s going to make my health care decisions, we’ll get it out. I don’t believe that:” http://tiny.cc/399n7
Of course, simply reading the bill would have cleared up any “ifs” but no one bothered to do that.
Now, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebellius has cleared that matter up with the announcement that not only will rationing be a feature of Obamacare when it is fully implemented in 2014 but that “Dr. Donald Berwick, an advocate of health-care rationing nominated by President Barack Obama to run Medicare and Medicaid, is ‘absolutely the right leader at this time’ to run the government’s largest health-care entitlement programs.”

Britain’s day in the sun has largely passed. The glory days of the vaunted British Empire are long gone and the sun regularly sets on it.
Still, in its waning years as Islam continues to gain stronger footholds throughout England in its quest to Islamicize the nation, Great Britain if no longer great still serves as a bellwether for both bad and good trends in America.
For example, Britain has long been a safe haven for abortion and abortionists and the procedure is relatively common though numbers show a very slight decrease in the last year; almost all are funded by the socialized health care program known as the National Health Service or NHS.
Nevertheless, even mad dogs and Englishmen sustained a shock to their sensibilities with the revelation that some British women practice abortion with the same casualness as they approach an afternoon of tea and crumpets.
Of a total of 189,100 abortions (with 2,094 involving girls under 15) in England and Wales in 2009, a shocking 48 were performed on women who have had seven or more abortions and another 3,630 on women who were chalking up their fourth, fifth, or sixth “terminations:” http://tiny.cc/xg7ec
Other methods of birth control are readily available but apparently thousands of women prefer to abort rather than use them, especially since the NHS is picking up the tab.

The UK’s National Health Service, the NHS, a model for and a forerunner of Obamacare, continues to fail and disappoint the British people just as Obamacare will fail and disappoint the American people once it is fully implemented in 2014:
“But the place is full of blokes!” “Sorry, dearie, it’s all we have to offer.”
Thirteen years after Britain’s Labour Party promised that mixed sex wards in NHS hospitals would be abolished, patients were forced to spend some 20,000 nights in mixed sex accommodations last year, many hospitals used only thin partitions to separate the sexes, and dozens used a curtain.
In 2009, there were 18,685 breaches of the rules and the number is growing rapidly.
In addition, 20% of NHS patients are forced to share washrooms and toilets with patients of the opposite sex and many are confined to hospitals which still feature “Victorian style” facilities, that is, men and women aren’t even kept in separate bays or have the benefits of flimsy separations for privacy.
It’s highly improbable that Queen Victoria had to share such undignified arrangements. If she had, she would certainly not be amused.
Meanwhile the conservatives and labourites quibble over which party is responsible for this offense to propriety in very proper England. . .

In addition, 20% of NHS patients are forced to share washrooms and toilets with patients of the opposite sex and many are confined to hospitals which still feature “Victorian style” facilities, that is, men and women aren’t even kept in separate bays or have the benefits of flimsy separations for privacy.
It’s highly improbable that Queen Victoria had to share such undignified arrangements. If she had, she would certainly not be amused.
Meanwhile the conservatives and labourites quibble over which party is responsible for this offense to propriety in very proper England. . .

More NHS Horror Stories
With the dismal dawning of the Age of Obamacare, the multiple horrors of the UK’s version of health care presage what lies ahead in our medical and custodial lives.
The United Kingdom’s National Health Service, the NHS, has been in place for some 62 years now; its birth and implementation were not merely coincidental with the decline of Great Britain as one of the world’s great powers.
It’s becoming tedious writing about the NHS and its regularly-occurring tales of malpractice and mispractice, long wait times for critical care, the monumental expense, its disorganization, etc.
However, with the narrow passage last month of Obama’s legacy bill and with the possibility of repealing that legacy after the November elections, it’s crucial to keep in mind the many flaws of socialized medicine.
I have already detailed in this space some of the numerous instances of misdiagnoses, incorrect and withheld medications, denials of treatment, mismanagement, staff shortages, staff disregard for patients, unsanitary conditions, and, worst of all, the NHS’s utter disregard for premature infants born even 3 days before the arbitrary 22 week cut-off point for any care.

The next time you’re tempted to throw in the towel and support the president’s socialistic power grab consider once again a primary model for Obamacare, the U.K.’s National Health Service or NHS.
Horror stories about the NHS regularly ooze out of Britain, tales such as the one about a woman giving birth on the street because the socialized NHS decreed she were too close to a hospital to dispatch an ambulance. And the one about a guy who has an appendicitis attack and a ruptured appendix weeks after it was supposedly removed.

The Exemplars of Obamacare
When plotting radical changes, government should always have a model, a fallback positioning to which it can point and say, “See! That’s what we’re doing or trying to do.”
As the president sits down with friend and foe for his scheduled six hour tête-à-tête, his nationally-televised pitch for his version of Obamacare, some related news on those exemplars has been gurgling to the surface.
First came Canadian Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams who effectively said to Health Canada, that country’s socialized health care system, fuggedaboudit. I want some real health care, down south in that barbaric nation, the United States.
Williams’ heart condition health issue doesn’t even seem to be life-threatening. However, he flew to Miami for treatment because, as he confessed, “This was my heart, my choice and my health. I did not sign away my right to get the best possible health care for myself when I entered politics:” http://bit.ly/bZkqTK
Put less diplomatically, Danny was saying that Canada’s health care system was fine for the peons but as for him, he preferred good health care.

The BIG Push is on! The obamanetworks, the obamamedia, and the obamablogosphere are all out there “explaining” and exposing the “myths” of Obamacare to the ignorant peasantry to save national healthcare and Obama’s presidency and legacy.
AARP is into the fray big time and its September issue of the AARP Bulletin features no less than 5 articles on Obamacare, including a 4000 word, 3 page spread entitled, “The Hype, the Lies, the Facts,” according to the AARP.
As we wait expectantly on the eve of Obama’s much-anticipated, prime time Obamacare address to both houses of congress and to the nation, it’s worthwhile to review some recent healthcare news.
The underlying precept of any socialist society or socialistic enterprise is that government knows best. When it comes to Obamacare, a young, healthy, and independent sort who, for whatever reason, feels he or she doesn’t want health insurance, tough!
In a free society one should be free to make that call, no? Well, yes and no.
Implicit in Obamacare is the philosophy that we’re too ignorant to make that decision. Therefore, you would be “free” to opt out but you’ll have to pay for that privilege, pay up to $3800 in fines, per annum, to Washington to be precise: http://bit.ly/QP5OF.
Those charges would be contrary to candidate Obama’s pledge not to impose fines on recalcitrants. However, what’s a pledge when the nation’s well-being is at stake?
It’s understandably a healthcare newsy kind of time.
House GOP Leader John Boehner puts the lie to Obama’s expressed wish for bi-partisanship in passing the most significant legislation in decades. TheHill.com is reporting that Boehner says the president hasn’t met with GOP leaders in over 4 months to discuss “common ground” on healthcare: http://bit.ly/2hmHw.
The fix is obviously in. The ploy of “reconciliation,” a misnomer for shoving a bill through congress without debate or opposition input, will undoubtedly be invoked in order to pass Obamacare with 51 rather that 60 votes in the Senate.
Meanwhile, Obama’s numbers continue their freefall into oblivion. Disapproval on his handling of the health issue has risen from 43% to 52% since July, a figure complemented by a fall of 7 percent in his overall approval rating in that same period: http://bit.ly/zKaIV
His only chance to apply the skids is to get some form of Obamacare passed and fast and then move on to trying his hand at governing rather than campaigning. Regrettably, Americans have short memories and people won’t wake up to the full impact until after the 2010 and, hopefully, the 2012 elections.
Across the Pond in Merry Ol’ England, they’ve been waking up for a good while now as to the horrors of their vaunted NHS, the UK’s National Health Service. . . .
