Magnanimity in North Miami Beach
In a gesture of boundless magnanimity, of selfless generosity, the mayor of North Miami Beach has extended America’s–or, at least, North Miami Beach’s–hand to the unfortunate, impoverished people of Haiti.
Mayor Mayor Andre Pierre, a Haitian immigrant, says 55,000 Haitians waiting for visas to the United States are welcome to settle in his city of 60,000 souls.
It’s gratifying to see an immigrant offering something to his adoptive community as payback for allowing him to enter our country and become a mayor.
As of the 2000 census, 38.97% of the population of North Miami Beach were African American so the influx of those 55,000 Haitians should appreciably change the demographic makeup. Other plusses for North Miami Beachians would include learning the skill of balancing water buckets and baskets on their heads and the fine art of voodoo.

The Next Time . . .
The Next Time . . .
The next time you’re tempted to throw in the towel and support the president’s socialistic power grab consider once again a primary model for Obamacare, the U.K.’s National Health Service or NHS.
Horror stories about the NHS regularly ooze out of Britain, tales such as the one about a woman giving birth on the street because the socialized NHS decreed she were too close to a hospital to dispatch an ambulance. And the one about a guy who has an appendicitis attack and a ruptured appendix weeks after it was supposedly removed.

thereby deprive some poor old bloke of his care?
Chances are that the old bloke will have his tubes pulled and be unplugged under the NHS anyway.

Haiti: Twits and Nitwits
Disasters bring out the best in some people, the worst in others. Unfortunately, there are usually far more worsts than bests. The reaction to the catastrophic earthquake on the benighted Haitian end of the island of Hispaniola is a prime example of how any number of twits and nitwits have betrayed themselves as ignoramusi.
“Twit” and “nitwit” are pretty much the same by definition although I’ve drawn a slight distinction between them. Both words describe simpletons, doofuses, contemptible fools but twits are generally more benignly stupid whereas nitwits are beyond contempt.
Two exceptional twits, tweedle-dum and tweedle-dummer, have emerged in the days since the 7.0 Richter scale earthquake all but leveled Port-au-Prince, twits at opposite ends of the political spectrum with totally opposite outlooks on what “caused” the quake.
First came words of wisdom from the conservative activist and founder of various conservative-Christian organizations including the Christian Coalition and the Christian Broadcasting Network, Pat Robertson.
