Politically Prostituting NASA

Politically Prostituting NASA

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden is a graduate of the Naval Academy, a retired, highly decorated Marine major general, and a former astronaut. Bolden is also a dutiful politician.

NASA’s website cites the agency’s aim to “pioneer the future in space exploration and aeronautic research” and outlines its “vision”: “To reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind.”

There is no mention anywhere on the NASA site of getting involved international politics, such as improving relations with Islam, or promoting the global warming scam but both are on its agenda.

Bolden demonstrated that NASA’s mission had radically changed a year after he was named administrator when he said during an interview with Al Jazeera, the Arabic language news network. Under Bolden, NASA’s is being politicized and its “foremost” mission is to improve relations with the Muslim world, and not space exploration or aeronautic research.

He told Al Jazeera that he was “ordered” to effectively forget NASA’s historic mission of space pioneering, etc. and to adopt a totally new and markedly different goal. As Bolden admitted to the voice of Islam, “Obama wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science. . . and math and engineering.”

At the behest of his boss, Bolden was abandoning NASA’s position as the world’s pre-eminent scientific body in order to serve “foremost” as cheerleaders for ancient Muslim achievements, that is, to fulfill Barack Hussein Obama’s political ambition to suck up to Islam and help Muslims “feel good” about themselves.

That extreme departure contradicted the president’s own words spoken in March, 2009.

At that time, he said, “Let’s be clear: promoting science isn’t just about providing resources–it is also about protecting free and open inquiry. It is about letting scientists . . . do their jobs, . . . It is about ensuring that scientific data is never distorted or concealed to serve a political agenda–and that we make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology.”

Except when those decisions and facts conflict with Obama’s ideology.

NASA has again departed from its mission on another Obama pet issue–the lie of anthropogenic global warming. . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=21481.)

Global Climate Fraud

Global Climate Fraud

When 31,487 American environmental and climate scientists, 9,029 of whom hold PhDs, agree that ”limits on greenhouse gasses would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology and damage the health and welfare of mankind,” can they all be wrong?

If they are, that would mean the cockamamie claims of Al Gore, the IPCC, and the whole horde of “greenies” who have been claiming for years that CO2 emissions are hazardous to the planet are a crock.

When those scientists subscribe to the view that, “there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth,” it would mean that Gore and Company should be branded as criminals for knowingly advocating a plot which would deprive mankind of those benefits.

(See the petition which includes the identities and qualifications of the signers at http://www.petitionproject.org/.)

In point of fact, the global warmists/coolists/changeists–they and their ilk have pushed all of those senseless panics over the past three decades but will be referred to here as simply the warmists and their cause as global warming–are responsible for perpetrating a scam so massive that Bernie Madoff would blush for not thinking of it first.

The immediate occasion for citing The Petition Project, which began with some 17,000 signatories in the late nineties and which has, of course, been dismissed by the warmist lobby as fraudulent despite the identification of every signatory, is the recent brouhaha over what scientist said what and what did he mean about global warming.

UC Berkeley Professor Richard Muller, member of the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project (BEST) team, alleged last week that he and his team had concluded Mother Earth was indeed warming and temperatures had increased by almost one degree centigrade over the course of 60 years.

As the warmists exulted over that announcement, made just in the nick of time for the gathering of the U.N.’s climate summit in Durban, S.A., a BEST colleague of Prof. Muller’s took issue with his opinion. A day later, Britain’s DailyMail.com also rained on Muller’s warmist parade by pointing out that his fellow climatologist had basically called Muller’s claim bunk.

Professor Judith Curry, chairperson of the highly-prestigious University of Georgia’s Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, said Muller had made “a huge mistake,” prof-speak for, Muller, you’re a ninny and/or a shill for the warmists. Curry also corrected Muller’s conclusions by adding factual analysis that there has been no global warming for at least ten years . . .

Global Warming: Scamming the Planet

Global Warming: Scamming the Planet

Merriam-Websters’s definition of a scam as “a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation” fails to do justice to the decades-long hoax, the swindle, of the American people known alternatively as global cooling, then global warming, then climate change.

The subject of that massive, international hustle has frequently been addressed in this space, most recently in “Another Climate Lie Bites the Dust,” which outlined the efforts of the climate clique to slander two distinguished American climatologists for telling the truth.

Professors Roy Spencer and William Braswell dared to expose the fallacies of alleged anthropogenic causes of changes in Earth’s weather and were summarily if indirectly dismissed as incompetents by their colleagues because of their impertinence in outing the climate-scammers.

Eminent, ethical scientists that Spencer and Braswell are, they didn’t and wouldn’t say their fellows were liars and frauds. Another warming-naysayer, Dr. Ivar Giaever, also refused to hurl those pejoratives, but I will.

Undismayed by exposure as sloppy flimflamers in the 2009 "climate-gate" scandal when email hackers of the United Nations-funded Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change facilities at Britain’s East Anglia University revealed gross misrepresentations, the IPCC has braved on.

There’s far too much money at stake for the IPCC–-or its ridiculous co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, Al Gore–-to do otherwise. Science-challenged, climate profiteer Gore continues to mindlessly beat the warming drum to stuff his pockets and is so wildly strident he is actually scaring believers with his “Climate Reality” unrealities.

Dr. Giaever, co-winner of the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize for physics, RPI professor emeritus and president of Applied Biophysics, forcefully contradicted the "warmers."

Giaever effectively denounced the American Physical Society for its contention that “the evidence [of global warming] is incontrovertible” and resigned his APA membership in disgust. . .

Ted Turner, Mouth of the Leftist South

Ted Turner, Mouth of the Leftist South

. . . It’s good to know Turner was being fair. Less good was his typically-liberal debasement and condescion toward the intelligence of Americans when he added, “It is really easy to understand how some people don’t get it, because it’s so complex and complicated.”

Ted Turner and Al Gore and Ted Danson and the rest of the PCS crew completely “get it,” can grasp “complex and complicated” matters because, well, because they’re liberal members of the Pompous Celeb Syndrome crew. We non-members, the great unwashed mass of Americans, are simply too doltish to understand. . .

The Last of Earth Day, 2011

The Last of Earth Day, 2011

By the mercy of God, Earth Day, 2011 is over.

If we had listened to my old schoolmate, George Carlin, it would have been over years ago. The planet is billions of years old and nothing humans have done or can do to it will ever change anything. After surviving billions of years, Earth doesn’t give a damn what we do. It adapts.

As Carlin says, “Twenty-five species that were here today will be gone tomorrow. . . There’s nothing wrong with the planet. The people are f*cked!. . . And we have the conceit that we’re a threat . . . some plastic bags and aluminum cans are gonna make a difference? . . . The planet isn’t going anywhere! . . . Ask those people at Pompeii how the planet is doing? . . . It’s a self-correcting system . . . ”

Algorean Warming, Cooling, Changing, Whatevering

Algorean Warming, Cooling, Changing, Whatevering

Rational people should feel a deep sense of pity for Albert Arnold ”Al” Gore Jr.

Not that he minds but not only is he Albert Arnold “Al” Gore Jr. but on top of that burden the poor soul has been so humiliated for being so wrong, so reduced to a caricature, so humiliated by reality, so devolved into what he is as opposed to what he once thought he was or may have thought he may have been, that he is now a laughing stock to those rational people.

The poor thing is so self-besotted that he must think that his borderline obscene embrace and liplock with Tipper at the DNC national convention in 2000, his alleged inability to control his sexual urges with massage therapists in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and his wife of 40+ years jettisoning his sorry ass in 2010 all somehow endear him to the public or, more likely, he doesn’t give a damn what the public thinks.

He has his resume’ to keep him all warm and fuzzy.

The guy was an Ivy Leaguer, as is Elena Kagan, he served in Vietnam, as a protected species, he won a Nobel Peace Prize, as did Yassir Arafat, and an Oscar, as did Michael Moore. Why not cut him some slack?

Poor AlGore is to be pitied mainly but not exclusively for his championing and rapacious enrichment beyond his wildest imagining from the pathetic, long-running, long-disproven joke and insidious charade known popularly as global warming, global cooling, climate changing, and now by the all-encompassing creation of John Holdren, global climate disruption.

That last covers just about any and everything that can happen climatologically from record rains to the driest droughts, from blizzards to heat waves, probably even the size and shapes of snow flakes, to the incidents of bedbugs in New York City which, we all know, is caused by the little buggers looking for safe havens from the heat, or the cold, or that general disruption.

Nevertheless, Algore keeps plugging along like those postmen of old whose rounds continued through snow, rain, heat, and gloom of night even if the last postman to deliver mail during the gloom of night actually doubled as a cat burglar. Undismayed by the mutiple changes in climatological nomenclature or by Climategate or by the coldest winter in a century, Big Al still likes ye olde global warming, avid advocacy for which has made him famous and rich.

Gore surely endorses the latest deception borne of the minds of fellow Democrat warmists in Washington, the warmists’ version of death panels decreed by regulatory fiat, greenhouse gas regulations. The obvious federal rationale for both is the theory that, if they can’t get a law to do it, bypassing Congress and the Constitution with some administrative regulations will.

Gore would be very much in favor. . .

The United Nations Gets Religion! (Mayan)

The United Nations Gets Religion! (Mayan)

Oh, great Ixchel, aged Mayan jaguar goddess of midwifery and medicine who set the universe in motion, Lady of the Rainbow, water goddess, consort to Votan, goddess of the moon, of reason, creativity and weaving! May you shed reason and shine your light upon the dim bulbs of the United Nations!

That blessing should be granted to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change if Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the gathering, gets her wish.

Figueres invoked Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates, waxing semi-poetic as she pleaded for enlightenment from the ancient goddess: ”May she inspire you–because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools:” http://tiny.cc/wj7q2

The depth and sincerity of the Costa Rican executive secretary’s prayer truly take one’s breath away, unless you consider that there was more to Ixchel than your average Mayan goddess.

She is closely associated with Chac Chel, the Mayan Young Moon Goddess who “is often depicted with a rabbit, . . . She is said to be of a merry and somewhat loose character, and rabbits are also famed for their reproductive abilities. She (as Ix Chel) had a great shrine on the island of Cozumel, one of the places to which hurricane Wilma recently caused great destruction:” http://tiny.cc/eh4t9

Secretary Figueres may or may not have had any intent of associating the delegates with rabbit-like, loose moral character but she certainly wasn’t inviting “great destruction” on Cancun nor upon this latest attempt to foist the farce of global warming, now known as climate change, upon the world.

There’s no need to pray for the destruction or failure of the Cancun U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, this year’s version of last year’s failure at Copenhagen. Figueres should know that it is perfectly capable of failing, imploding, self-destructing on its own, the fate of most U.N. initiatives.

From the Good News Department . . .

From the Good News Department . . .

We tend to scrabble about for good news during trying times, and these are very trying times, so I’m delighted to share some of that good stuff for a change:

. Good News Item Numero Uno: Add this item to the many other signs that conscious Americans are finally waking up to our pretend president and his pretensions to the presidency: The Millennials are Jumping Ship!

I admit, not being a millennial, that I didn’t know the meaning of the word and discovered it refers to those Americans between 18 and 29. More importantly, a Pew survey shows they are abandoning Obama at a rapid clip.

That demographic joins many others just a year after Obamamania swept the planet, swept the Indie vote, and, of course, the Dem and Black votes. That last constituency is still firmly ensconced in Obama’s column but all the others are in various degrees of peril.

The Pew Research Center study “says that the Democrats’ advantage over Republicans with [the Millennials] has dramatically shrunk from a 32 point margin in 2008 to 14 points,” although the bulk of that Republican gain are “leaners.” Dems are still favored by Mils and the margins for Gen X-ers and Boomers are statistically insignificant: http://bit.ly/cF4qCW

All the numbers are a far cry from a year ago when Obamania was in full bloom.

As of now, should trends continue, the elections 9 months and 33 months from now may represent 1994 and 2000 reduxes, respectively–unless Republicans shoot themselves in their feet with internal dissension.

. Good News Item Numero Dos: “D.C. Archdiocese Ends Foster Care Program.” On its surface, that story would seem bad news for kids in need of foster care but surfaces are misleading. . .

Bush Did it, Part 5

Fifth in a continuing series on former President George W. Bush and his responsibility for all of Obama’s gaffes, failures, and stupidity, for all the evils in the world including tooth decay, hemorrhoids, and Iran, and for all that goes bump in the night.

Ok, now here’s the scenario and it’s a bit convoluted and hard to follow–and swallow–but try to keep up.

Much of the country has been enduring a brutal winter with record-setting snowfalls in Washington, Baltimore, Chicago, and other cities and states–and it’s all the fault of George W. Bush. As always.

You see, Bush never really bought into this whole global warming baloney and did jacksquat to cripple what’s left of our industrial base and transfer gobs of American wealth to . . .

On Obama's Back Burners

On Obama’s Back Burners

I bet that when Barack Obama won his current job as president that he didn’t expect he would have to cut short a Hawaiian vacation by one whole day–and a full 9 days after the attempted Islamic terrorist attack on Christmas Day!

C’mon now, a prez and his family deserve a lil’ r&r too, right?

So what if Bush was raked over the media coals when he dillydallied in Crawford while Americans in the 9th Ward were doing the backstroke in the wake of Katrina because they refused to evacuate and because New Orleans Mayor Nagin insisted on Greyhounds rather than use school buses to save his people?

Obama knows he’s immune from media criticism, because he’s the Anointed One, the Obamassiah, and he did reduce Hawaiian sun-basking time by 24 hours.

Now he has to get back to work with both front and back burner pressing issues.

Front Burner Issues:

. Obamacare still has to wend its way through Congress but it looks like a shoo-in now. The Democrat Senate and the Democrat House will surely work out their differences for their Democrat president, and they’ll do it in secret, thank you very much: http://bit.ly/7v8CAt . . .

Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two

Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two

Despite all the damning revelations out of Britain’s East Anglia University, the belly of the global warming conspiracy, COP15, the United Nations’ international climate summit in Copenhagen, will go on as planned.

With President Obama, the twenty-first century’s answer to the indecisive Hamlet, tossing his hat into the climate cesspool, previously-dashed hopes for any successful agreements at COP15 have been resuscitated: http://bit.ly/8kzkhh

Glory be!

That means that the U.N. may yet seduce the United States into agreeing to devastating deals that will benefit the Third World and decimate American industry all because of the proven charade of global warming.

And now for some much needed levity in this miasma:

. Comedy Central’s Resident News Clown: For some inexplicable reason, Jon Stewart, nee’ Jon Leibowitz, is accepted by many as a news source when this clown’s news credibility is a few steps beneath that of George Stephanopoulis’.

Stewart recently performed some amazing mental gymnastics on “The Daily Show,” ridiculing the secretive, criminal actions of the warmist scientists at UEA then, without missing a step, he segued into ripping those who termed the mess that is Climategate.

As we all well know, Earth is inexorably becoming a cauldron.

See Stewart’s act here but especially note the comments on Swamppolitics.com which carried the story.

The commenters show far more astuteness, erudition, and sheer common sense than Stewart and handily refute his futile efforts at resorting to a reductio ad absurdum attack on Climategate: http://bit.ly/7iR9sI

Head for them Thar San Fran Hills!: Austrian-born body-builder, actor of sorts, hubby of a Kennedy, governor of the former great State of Caleeforniah, Arnold Swartzernegger, must be watching too many cataclysm flicks.

He began . . .

Climate/Climategate Updates Part One

. . . U.N. to Probe Climategate Leaks: The ever-watchful folk at the United Nations, the same folk who have perpetrated the whole fraud of anthropogenic global warming, have now decided to investigate the matter.

Said investigation will not focus on why the U.N. has for decades persisted in propagating the patent falsehood of evil mankind causing climate change with our greenhouse gas emissions.

Rather, the Chairman of the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Dr. Rahendra Pachauri, reflecting some Brit diction, has declared, “We will certainly go into the whole lot and then we will take a position on it. We certainly don’t want to brush anything under the carpet.”

Why anyone would believe that Pachauri or his henchmen at the United Nations would even think of under-the-carpet brushing is mystifying.

After all, pinning climate change on the industrial world, principally on the United States, has only been a prime raison d’ĂȘtre for the U.N. in its quest to level the playing field and sharing the planet’s (America’s) wealth with the Third World. . .

Climate Change? Never Mind.

Climate Change? Never Mind.

When corrected after elaborating on such malapropisms as “Russian jewelry,” in lieu of “Russian Jewry,” SNL’s late, great Gilda Radner’s/Emily Litella’s standard rebuttal was always, “Never mind.”

Less than 4 weeks after British P.M. Gordon Brown issued his chilling warning of an imminent cataclysm “of floods, droughts, and killer heat waves” that would strike the planet if the climate change confab in Copenhagen didn’t save us in 50 days, the climate changeists have effectively said, “Never mind.”

It was funnier when Litella used the line.

There’s no rush after all despite Brown’s panic that Earthlings had less than 2 months to avoid catastrophe: ”U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders on Sunday supported delaying a legally binding climate pact until 2010 or even later, but European negotiators said the move did not imply weaker action:” http://bit.ly/2Y6Yuk.

Danish P.M Lars Lokke Rasmussen added, “We are not aiming to let anyone off the hook.”

What “hook” he meant was left unclear. . .

Climate Change Foolery

Climate Change Foolery

The End Is Near! If you’re not too busy on or about December 8th, make a note that on that fateful day climate change will wreak its final vengeance on the world’s polluters–and on everyone else.

At least that’s the view of the increasingly-odd British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Well, not exactly.

According to the BBC, Brown did say on October 19th in London that “negotiators had 50 days to save the world from global warming and break the ‘impasse’ ” or face “catastrophic” floods, heat waves, and droughts for which there is “no Plan B:” http://bit.ly/13Os3h

So, that’s all, folks! Either the world gets its act together when nations gather in December in Copenhagen to try to scrap the Kyoto Protocol, or there is no hope, no future, no planet to speak of as of December 8th.

Sort of.

He did temper his remarks by adding that, ”within the lifetime of our children and grandchildren the intense temperatures of 2003 could become the average temperature experienced throughout much of Europe.”

By the time our grandchildren are affected, much of Europe will be Islamic so maybe we should seek answers in the Qu’ran?

Absent from Brown’s hot, bleak forecast was any allusion to looking behind that curtain and discovering the charlatan who cites one miserable European summer and ignores all the true science that points to global cooling over the past decade.

Mr. Brown, faithfully carrying on Obama’s Panic Philosophy despite being repeatedly rebuffed and insulted by the American president and with his Labour Party headed for a jolly good trouncing in the next election, seems a desparate bloke who would admit to Brit atrocities in Ireland if it would garner a few votes.

The man needs a feather in his tweed cap even if it means scaring the living bejesus out of Britons.

Also on the climate change front, New York Times’ environmental reporter, Andrew Rivkin, has come up with yet another muddled, liberal idea.

Why not, Rivkind suggests, make children the equivalent of smokestacks . . .

The Sky Is Falling! On the United Nations!

The Sky Is Falling! On the United Nations!

Chicken Little, not the 2005 kid film by the same name, which I somehow missed, is apparently the mascot for many politicians today, both domestic and international.

For those who didn’t have a childhood, a synopsis of the Chicken Little tale: The classic fable features a chicken, Chicken Little by name, who is clunked on his bean by an acorn. Lil’ Miss Little immediately jumps to the inaccurate conclusion that the sky is falling and proceeds to instill panic in her barnyard buddies, including Henny Penny, Cocky Lockey, Loosey Goosey, and Turkey Lurky.

There are various endings to the tale, the most common if not the most popular with young kids being an encounter with a scoundrel, Foxy Loxey, who proceeds to gobble up all the stupid fowl.

All fables have morals and the moral of the sad story of Chicken Little and her fowl friends can be expressed in various ways: Don’t jump to conclusions, Don’t believe everything you’re told, Things are not always what they appear to be, et al.

Personally, I like the moral that if you’re a numbnut and try to spread needless hysteria, you just may end up a dinner entree for someone smarter than you.

There are a lot of smart people in this world of ours, and then there are the politicians who like to use panic to cloak the fact they have no clue of what they’re talking about.

President Obama is highly skilled in the panic technique to scare Americans into believing his cockamamie ideas on health care and on everything else.

So, too, is the current Secretary General of the United Nations an adherent to the panic theory of governing.

One prime purpose of the secretary’s misbegotten institution has evolved into unabashed America-bashing to keep our country in line so that the U.N. can merrily go about its business of sharing the wealth of our rapacious nation with the have-not nations of the Earth.

Most of those other countries have no business even calling themselves nations since they can’t govern themselves, maintain peace and tranquility within their borders, or feed their populaces. The conventional, international wisdom is to explain away those pseudo-nations’ flaws and inabilities by blaming colonialism and all things Western for their failures.

In actuality, America is keeping most of them alive with our foreign aid charity and millions of tons of free food shipments to stave off starvation. . . .
