Gorebal Warming

Gorebal Warming

The punsters, including moi, are out in force in the wake of the wake of Al Gore’s 40 year marriage to Tipper and the subsequent rumors of the raison d’ĂȘtre for the break up, his extended and inconvenient affair with environmental activist, producer of the Goreacle’s An Inconvenient Truth, and confirmed hypocrite, Laurie David.

It’s tough to determine between Al and Laurie who’s getting the ca-ca end of this split stick. I’m guessing, like Elizabeth Edwards, the Tipster is getting the better end of the deal.

John W. Lollipop on AmericanConservativeDaily.com traces Gore’s wanderlust back to that infamous, staged. PG-13 kiss at the 2000 Democrat Convention which he attributes not to passionate love for Gore’s then-30 year bride but rather to a combination of ”Faking passion just for votes and the advanced stages of male menopause and mid-life crisis:” http://tiny.cc/t9ab2

I personally thought other classic kisses were more memorable, such as these: . . .

Envirohypocrisy

Envirohypocrisy

America’s Left has always been noted for its hypocrisy but it has outdone itself with respect to the Gulf oil disaster.

Had this catastrophe occurred on George W. Bush’s watch, he would have been pilloried mercilessly by the likes of the Sierra Club, Greenpeace and other envirogreenies.

On the other hand, Obama’s inaction, his detachment, his failure, even his transparent tough guy language about kicking ass have been met with a hypocritical stoicism by most Lefties to the point that it’s scandalously disgusting.

James Carville, who lives in the Gulf area, and Bill Maher, who is a brainless twit, have voiced their dismay over Obama’s blatant display of incompetence and inexperience in this emergency but they are virtually alone among “progressives” in their sentiments.

As the public seethes over the situation, as the Gulf states suffer immeasurable hurt, as the ecosystem is on the verge of being permanently despoiled by oil and tarballs, as the economies and lifestyles of millions are imperilled, Obama acts like a national Gautama Buddha sitting in the White House with his legs figuratively crossed and his soul figuratively praying for his daughter to stop annoying him with her daily questioning on whether he plugged the hole yet. . .

Nervy News #8: Prince Tampon

Nervy News #8: Prince Tampon

Prince Charles of Great Britain, Prince of Wales, Earl of Chester, heir apparent to the incongruous throne of England, best known for his note to Camilla Parker-Bowles in which he professed his desire to be her tampon, is now urging the world to follow the “spiritual principles” of Islam in order to save the planet’s environment.

Also known for having a servant hold the cup while he gave a urine sample, Bonnie Prince Charlie echoed Al Gore when he said that “The inconvenient truth is that we share this planet with the rest of creation for a very good reason–and that is, we cannot exist on our own without the intricately balanced web of life around us.”

He added in his lecture to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies that, based on his study of the Koran, “Islam has always taught this and to ignore that lesson is to default on our contract with creation:” http://bit.ly/dBm4EB . . .

Oil, America's Lifeblood

Oil, America's Lifeblood

As British Petroleum’s Deepwater Horizon continues to gush millions of gallons of crude oil into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the temptation to ban deep sea drilling for oil now and forevermore is growing.

None of BP’s fixes for this catastrophe have had any appreciable effect on stopping it, oil slicks seem everywhere, tar balls have hit the pristine beaches of Key West and may head up the Atlantic seacoast. The spill promises to exceed the ecological impact of the Exxon Valdez in 1989 and possibly exceed the gross volume of all oil spills in history.

It seems like an environmental Armageddon and Greenpeace, other environmental whacko groups, and green politicians must be mobilizing for an all-out effort to pre-empt any future, similar disasters by agitating for a cessation of all off-shore drilling just as they have campaigned against on-shore drilling.

The chief problem with that approach . . .

Nasty Signs of Green Times

Nasty Signs of Green Times

Ok, there’s no need to admit it since even Jerry Seinfeld does it.

I’m not talking sex or nose-picking but bathroom, umm, activities. Granted the subject is not your usual cocktail party chat fare and it’s gross but, unfortunately, it’s in the news.

Overachieving songstress Sheryl Crow and political activist Laurie David started it all with their one-sheet proposal a few years back.

(The terminally squeamish should feel free to substitute “bathroom tissue” wherever the terms “toilet paper” or “tp” is mentioned in this article.)

In sum, enviro-zealots Crow and David seriously proposed that Americans be limited to a single sheet of toilet paper when they had to skip to the loo. The two self-appointed eco-experts felt that challenging sacrifice was needed to save the planet.

Both withdrew into the bushes when their scheme was met with a torrent of mockery and they then pulled an Emily Litella and declared, “Never mind.”

A related toilet tale later bubbled up in cash-strapped Riverside County, California when officials decided they just had to save a third of a penny per tp sheet.

Their plan as reported by the New York Times: “There was a texture test, and then the Facilities Management Department decided that Angel Soft would be utilized for elected officials and their guests. The remainder of the county facilities would be using two-ply.”

For more detail on both stories, toilet paper aficionados are referred to ”Things Get Rough in California,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1007.

Things continue to gurgle on the toilet front.

Last month came the allegation that, unlike people who care about the planet, over-indulged, Earth-hating Americans are inclined to softies when it came to tp.

Super-Charmins and comparable super-soft “terlet paper,” as my mom used to call it, were wiping out tens of thousands of acres of old growth forests which are the prime softness sources. Newer trees make for a rougher going but it sure beats chopping down redwoods, no?

The enviro-whackos think we should emulate Europe and use single ply, recycled paper, which is tantamount to using dry leaves or old copies of the Times.

Those Earth-friendly Europeans are in the forefront of the effort to save the trees, especially old trees and should serve as models for us profligate Americans who love the soft life.

At least one Irish girls’ school has shown the way toward saving a few euros . . .
