Deconstructing Marco Rubio
They’re done with Michelle Bachmann who was successfully painted as just another stupid, Republican woman like Sarah Palin despite her law degrees and stint as an IRS attorney.
They ignore Gary Johnson, Buddy Roemer, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, and Ron Paul because none of them stand a chance of snagging the GOP nomination. They buried Donald Trump under a still-suspect birth certificate and have labeled Herman Cain as nothing more than a token, a pizza store owner. They’re still in process of dismantling Rick Perry with charges of stupidity and blood lust and have made Mitt Romney an Obamacare accomplice.
However, Obama’s Democrats never feared any of them with the gut terror they experience with a 40 year old son of an immigrant, the newly-elected United States senator from the State of Florida, Marco Antonio Rubio.
Right now, Senator Rubio poses the major threat to President Barack Hussein Obama because he’s the anti-Obama, the embodiment of everything the president isn’t–pro-life, pro-balanced budget, pro-family and normal marriage, pro-charter schools, pro-drilling, pro-Second Amendment, pro-strong national defense, pro-real government and tax reform, and pro-border security.
If that were not sufficient to scare the pants off liberals, Rubio opposes Obamacare, amnesty for illegal aliens, phony economic stimuli, endless death row appeals, federal intrusions into public education, crippling cap and trade legislation, card check legislation, and punitive taxation.
Oh, and he loves his country, he’s an hispanic Catholic, and he doesn’t have Dumbo ears, a definite cosmetic plus in our looks-obsessed culture.
What Marco Rubio also has are credentials and credibility, features sorely lacking in the current White House resident.
Born in 1971 to Cuban immigrants–legal immigrants, not the kind Obama favors–graduate of the University of Florida, University of Miami School of Law (cum laude), 5-term member of the Florida House of Representatives, elected Speaker of that body in 2007, published author (without Bill Ayers’ ghostwriting), elected to the United States Senate in 2008, Rubio outshines Obama across the board but isn’t a candidate opposing him.
The reason then for the Obamian fear, terror, and loathing? . . .

Fox and Pew and You
Fox and Pew and You
An old friend who perceives himself a quasi-liberal since he and his family members have been labor unionists for generations once said to me, “Well, you get all your news from Fox News.” He had previously blamed Republicans for the election of Barack Hussein Obama because the GOP nominated lame John McCain.
That old union friend was wrong on the first count but probably right on the second.
The only rational explanation for Obama’s election in 2008 is no viable competition but when I do watch television news I split my time pretty equally with the left wing networks and Fox. Like they say, keep your friends close but your enemies closer, an aphorism which could be extended to the much less catchy but equivalently-insightful, Watch the truth compliments of your friends and keep your eye on the prevaricators.
As reported by the Fox News Channel in article titled, “Pew: Fox News Channel America’s No. 1 Source for TV News,” a survey conducted in July by the highly-reputable Pew Research Center revealed that 19% of respondents indicated they learned what’s going on in the nation and the world from the FNC. . .

FOX Tops Opps
FOX Tops Opps
Ok, I freely admit I can't compete with Variety in rhyming or alliterating headlines but nevertheless the stats are in and one mo' time the conservative-leaning Fox News Network, FNC, trounced the leftist-leaning MSNBC, CNN, and other liberal, cable networks in viewership.
That's no surprise since first, "liberal" and "cable" are largely redundant and, second, FOX dominance has been the prevailing trend for years. Nevertheless, the new numbers published on Drudge.com are startling:
FOXNEWS O’REILLY 3,178,000
FOXNEWS HANNITY 2,196,000
FOXNEWS BAIER 2,127,000
FOXNEWS SMITH 2,085,000
FOXNEWS GRETA 1,817,000
MSNBC O’DONNELL 1,138,000
MSNBC HARDBALL 1,026,000
CNN MORGAN 859,000
CNN COOPER 851,000
MSNBC MADDOW 832,000
MSNBC SHARPTON 699,000
CNNHN GRACE 663,000
Some ballpark math: About 11 million people regularly watch Bill, Sean, Scott, Shep and Greta versus 6 million who catch Lawrence, Chris, Piers, Anderson, Rachel, Al, and Nancy.
And few libs thought those dolts, those Neanderthal throwbacks that Obama called in 2008 bitter, frustrated, gun-loving, Bible-thumping, immigrant-hating dummies, even had cable!
It seems the mass of semi-literate, ignoramuses affiliated with the Tea Party and other radical conservative movements, those terrorists, as Joe Biden calls them, actually do have cable connections rather than aluminum, antennaed hats and choose to watch the fair and balanced reporting on FOX with its liberal representation in the persons of Juan Williams, Bob Beckle, Kirsten Powers and others.
They somehow seem turned off by the twisted perspectives of the tingler Matthews and the sacrosanct O'Donnell, the phony Brit Morgan, the gaiety of Cooper and Maddow, the race-baiting of Sharpton, and the vapidness of Grace. . .

Black on White Crime: The Video
Black on White Crime: The Video
They rarely make the front pages nor the lead story on the evening television news, if they are mentioned in most newspapers papers or on TV at all. However, the absence of publicity serves only to illustrate the mass media’s reluctance to report on black on white crime and not to mitigate the frequency and the violence of such racist crimes.
Whether motivated by the prevailing aura of political correctness or by some other sinister motives, that MSM failure doesn’t alter the truth that incidents of blacks assaulting, maiming, killing whites in America is approaching epidemic proportions. Of late, fast food restaurants seem to be the preferred venues for the attacks.
The latest example occurred at a McDonalds in Rosedale, a suburb of Baltimore on April 18th. A video of the extended assault, filmed by a black employee who posted it on YouTube Friday, is unsettling for various reasons. Not only is the defenseless, 22 year old, white victim seen being mercilessly pummeled by two black females, ages 14 and 18, but black McDonalds employees pass by and do little to stop the wild attack or to offer assistance.
With screeches emanating from her assailants, the white girl is repeatedly punched and kicked in the head by the black girls, then dragged by the hair toward the front door and the parking lot until they are told the police had been called and an older white woman intercedes.
At that point, they get in a few last minute kicks and leave the white girl writhing on the floor apparently suffering from a seizure. The videographer is heard saying, “She’s bleeding, yo. Her mouth bleeding, her mouth bleeding! She’s having a [expletive] seizure, yo! She’s having a seizure right now, she needs help right now! Ya’al better get the [expletive] out of here now!”

Attempted Media Murder
Attempted Media Murder
You’re known as much by the enemies you keep as you are by your friends.
America’s liberal mainstream media, long accustomed to virtually absolute dominance of both print and the airwaves, was initially unperturbed when Rush Limbaugh arrived on the scene in 1984 and it ho-hummed the inauguration of the Fox News Channel on cable barely 14 years ago since it had a steel grip on what ideas and news were disseminated for public consumption.
No more.
Since Limbaugh’s amazing success and the growth of conservative talk radio in general and, especially since Fox has galloped so far ahead of CNN, MSNBC and other leftist cable channels that the MSM can barely see its haunches in the distance, mainstreamers have grown, in turn, wary, concerned and recently apoplectic over the loss of its previous monopolistic control over what people hear, see, and think.
Of course, they still have a lock on televised news via ABC, CBS, and NBC and public radio with NPR but those networks are in rapid decline much like the New York Times. Unlike the Times, they may survive as minimalist news sources with their little niche of viewers who don’t have or want cable and listeners who prefer to be force-fed pap by NPR.
However, leftwingers aren’t about to surrender to Fox, yet.
In fact, at least one influential member of that media has now declared war, an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” against the Fox News Network which has morphed into an enemy rather than a competitor. Even worse, it’s an alleged arm of the Republican Party and that can no longer be tolerated nor will contentions the Democrats have owned the MSM for decades.
You’re known by the enemies you keep. You also know those enemies are being driven frantic by your success and influence when they declare all-out war. . .

Michelle Obama, Stealth FLOTUS
Michelle Obama, Stealth FLOTUS
Her hubby, the POTUS, may suffer from “narcissistic personality disorder” based on an analysis by Ben Shapiro of CNS.com, but America’s FLOTUS Michelle Obama has her own little quirks. She shares Barack’s penchant for secretiveness approaching paranoia.
The president loves partying and posing and mincing for the camera even as he detests his buddies in the press when he is expected to answer unrehearsed responses to unanticipated questions. (See ”The Stealth Presidency,” http://tiny.cc/dykcf, to which a new wrinkle was added today when the Associated Press reported that, after promising to answer “a few questions” during the Obama/Calderon presser, he answered one–on a possible NFL lockout.)
The first lady almost outdoes him in the opaque department. As Obama has given new meaning to his professed drive for transparency, Mrs. Obama has given new meaning to the terms “conferences” and “press briefings.” Like her multiple vacations and her kids, she likes to keep them private. Her office calls them “listen only” conference calls.
She talks, reporters listen.
According to CNSNews.com, on February 8th, she conducted one of those charades on her favorite topic, obesity. The next day, she held an “invitation only” call with unidentified “online media.” Her office refused to identify the which “online media” had been invited.
Yesterday’s exercise in controlling the media was devoted to the Healthier U.S. Schools Challenge program, as well as devoted to the admistration’s line. Ably assisted this time with backup . . .

Mayhem in Tucson III: The Truth about Jared Loughner
Mayhem in Tucson III: The Truth about Jared Loughner
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”
Those words were not spoken by alleged Tucson shooter Jared Loughner nor by Sarah Palin nor by Glenn Beck but by presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama at a town hall meeting at Radnor Middle School in Wayne, PA on June 14, 2008: “That’s exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks . . . Because [as Obama said] ‘from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl.’ “
Then, to show he found humor in using guns, Obama added, ”I’ve seen Eagles fans:” http://tiny.cc/34yhm. His comments evoked laughter and applause since, after all, isn’t the use of guns amusing?
If not amused by the massacre at Fort Hood by Nidal Malik Hasan on November 5,2009 then President Obama cautioned the nation not “to jump to conclusions” over that mass murder by a Muslim since, after all, he was a Muslim.
Obama’s mass mainstream media quickly jumped to a slew of conclusions and accusations in the Tucson aftermath blaming everyone from Palin to Beck to Fox News. Virtually all of the MSM conclusions and accusations have been defamatory and premature–and erroneous.
The president’s MSM never lets facts stand in the way of a good smearing interlaced with good lying. That media can be forgetful, though, as with Obama’s gun joke or as with ousted Arizona Democrat Rep. Harry Mitchell’s 2006 campaign ad depicting Republican J.D. Hayworth in the crosshairs of a rifle sight or as with the 2008 display of Sarah Palin hanging on a noose in front of a West Hollywood house.
They can be so very forgetful, so intentionally, demonically forgetful.
Not that the MSM will feature, or even cover, it but the truth about Jared Loughner is beginning to seep out. Why report truth when partisan fiction is so much more productive and satisfying?
Loughner’s fellow students at Pima Community College know that truth well, know well that he was expelled and recommended for a mental examination for causing a variety of disturbances. Classmate Caitie Parker tweeted that he was “left wing, quite liberal” in 2007 and known to be a reclusive “anti-flag pothead” who liked Jimi Hendrix and . . .

Rick Sanchez and CNN's Kingdom of Nay
Rick Sanchez and CNN's Kingdom of Nay
The little I saw of him, Rick Sanchez, formerly host of “Rick’s List” in CNN’s 3-5 p.m. time slot, seemed like a sincere, straightforward, personable enough sort. He was more than a tad too straightforward in a radio interview, hence the reason he’s a former host.
I don’t think I’m in danger of stereotyping when I say Sanchez, a Cuban-born American with no obvious accent, shared a common trait among latinos, that of being passionate, passionate enough to lose his cool–and his job of 6 years with CNN. He got pissed during a Serius/XM radio interview with Pete Dominick and let loose with some opinions which were considered dismissal-worthy by his CNN bosses.
Sanchez’ comments about discrimination in general, about bias against women and Hispanics in particular, and concerning Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart whom he called a bigot, probably wouldn’t have gotten him canned since there’s a provable element of truth in such accusations.
What got him bunches of free time to plug his new book, Conventional Idiocy, Why the New America Is Sick of Old Politics, was not just touching but grabbing onto the third rail with his intimations that Jews controlled the media and with such statements as, “I can’t see somebody not getting a job somewhere because they’re Jewish.”
To that last, Dominick quipped, “Well, then you’ve never been to Nebraska,” but the damage was already done.
I’ve never been to Nebraska, either, nor do I plan on traveling there in the near future or during this lifetime, so I can’t reflect on job opportunities for Jews in the Cornhusker State but I think Sanchez was speaking in generalities with that pretty accurate comment.
Less general were his views on alleged Jewish control of the media. . . .

The Quiet Desperation of the MSM
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation,” wrote Tennessee Williams, and well he should know. There’s a lot of desperation out there, both quiet and noisy, but all the sufferers aren’t men.
One very desperate group in America is the mainstream media, particularly the print media which is rapidly being supplanted by the Internet for people to get news, information, entertainment.
Thus we see the “old grey lady,” the New York Times, gradually, inexorably being reduced to an old grey bag lady as its readership declines by the day.
Pretty soon the only people reading it will be the Sulzbergers and their coterie of leftist sycophants.
Barring a federal bailout of the Times and other national lib media, which has been suggested and is not beyond possibility, that newspaper should be gone in a generation or less.
Its disappearance will be all very fitting and proper since it has long abused its position as the only non-taboid in New York City since the Herald Tribune bit the dust in 1967.
With a newspaper monopoly and in contradistinction to its motto, the Times has for years been printing all the news that fit its “progressive” philosophy rather than all the news that’s fit to print.
Another specially sweet instance of journalistic poetic justice is the plight of New York’s Newsday.
Long the only show in town . . .

Barack Obama, Media Man
Barack Obama, Media Man
There’s something very wrong about political figures getting a free pass from the MSM or, worse, being idolized, lionized by an institution that historically, rightly, should be detached from politics and politicians so that it can accomplish its underlying raison d’être objectively.
We’re presently witnessing a journalistic sea change in which, instead of honest reporting on the political scene and on those who inhabit that scene, we’re seeing media fulfilling the role of lap dogs, snuggling up to Democrats in general and Barack Obama in particular in hopes of getting a gentle pat on the head and entry into the inner sanctums of their worlds.
In the past 18 months or so, Americans have witnessed a media phenomenon, a unique–and unfortunate–alteration in our media in which they have become virtual appendages of a political figure and a political party. In that process, the media have abnegated their informational responsibilities and disgraced their sacred duty toward our democratic republic.
Formerly reputable newspapers such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, the L.A. Times, magazines such as Newsweek, Time, and the US News and World Report, regularly bury and ignore news that would reflect unfavorably on the president, brazenly distort reports on his failures, and shamelessly exaggerate his abilities and accomplishments as if they were operating in the Pravda mode of the defunct U.S.S.R.
In pre-internet, pre-YouTube, pre-24/7/365 cable news coverage times, media were far better able to misrepresent and mis-report, . . .

Our system of government both permits and encourages dissent as long as that dissent is not expressed violently or used as incitements to violence. In those cases, freedoms of speech and of the press can border on sedition and should be supressed to preserve order.
America’s mainstream media, the MSM, may not yet be guilty of sedition but may be guilty of crimes far more reprehensible: giving aid and comfort to the enemy and serving as handmaidens to a repressive government.
The motivations of the MSM are beyond this observer’s comprehension. Even after the president’s grudging acknowledgement that we are engaged in a war with al Qaeda, various elements of our media continue reporting falsehoods and/or concealing truths.
Examples would include continuing to bury facts concerning the Fort Hood murderer’s contacts with al Qaeda as if Major Hasan deserved some media protection, or in order to conceal the scope of Islamic terrorism in America.
More incomprehensible is that it took Obama, this most brilliant of men, over a year to come to the determination that we are engaged in a war against terrorism and, even then, it took an attempted al Qaeda bombing on Christmas Day to provide the catalyst for his concession to reality.
One has to assume that the MSM reporters and editors . . .

The Size of Media Matters
“Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”
The operative word in that mission statement is, of course, “progressive” which has of late supplanted the words ”leftist” and “liberal” since “progressive” sounds, well, so much more progressive and is definitely more palatable to the gullible American public.
However, calling skunk cabbages roses doesn’t do much to alter their stink.
I took a brief stroll to the dark side, the website of MediaMatters, and noted the anticipated attacks on such conservative devils as Glenn Beck, Anne Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh as well as articles ripping us fools who believe global warming is a massive, political hoax.
There were no pieces about another dark side, the unrelenting homosexual campaign to “normalize” their lifestyle via indoctrination of kids in their schools and everyone via the media, with the happy help of MM.
That was surprising . . .

The Democrat War on the Christian God, Part III
. . . To many on the Left, Barack Obama “is sort of God.” I didn’t manufacture that quote. They are the precise words articulated by noted Leftist, Evan Thomas, in an interview on Thrill-Up-His-Leg Matthews’ MSNBC.
To emphasize his skewed perspective, Thomas also dismisses Ronald Reagan as being “all about America,” as if that were a bad thing, at the same time he deifies Obama who shows “we are above all that now:” http://bit.ly/7pxDqf.
Thomas added that Obama “is gonna bring us all together.” That view was not evidenced by the Tea Parties, the raucous town hall meetings in August, the massive conservative March on Washington on September 12th, and the national divisiveness not seen since the Viet Nam War.
Thomas failed to mention all those demonstrations of godly togetherness achieved by our “national healer,” as the AP described Obama on November 10th.
One has to wonder “upon what meat doth this our media feed,” as Shakespeare might say, that they are leading the charge against country and God?
The New York Times’ Nicholas D. Kristof, subbing for the insufferable Paul Krugman, provided a clue in his 2003 article, “God, Satan and the Media.”
He begins with the preposterous assertion that, “Claims that the news media form a vast liberal conspiracy strike me as utterly unconvincing.” He then concedes that ”nearly all of us in the news business are completely out of touch with a group that includes 46 percent of Americans. . . evangelical or born-again Christians.”
Kristof thereby reinforced . . .

National Paranoia II
National Paranoia–Part 2
Ok, go ahead and scoff at paranoia and the truism that paranoiacs sometimes really do have someone after them who may want to do them serious bodily and/or psychological harm.
In the case of national paranoia, perhaps you have been misinterpreting the words and actions of people plotting to alter your life as you’ve known it and our nation’s principles as we’ve long understood and revered them.
Oops, that sounds paranoid.
As strongly suggested in “National Paranoia, Part One,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1273, ominous, dark storm clouds of a change few anticipated on November 4th, 2008 have been gathering and theatening both America’s and our individual status quos.
With abject apologies to Robert Browning, How do I count those changes? Let me count the ways.
We could start the count of the undermining of American’s life and values on President Obama’s Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2008, when he promised the universe as the minorities who elected him all but became orgasmic and trashed his predecessor.
However, fast forward to four days ago when the White House Communications Directress, Anita Dunn, recent FoxNews dunner and Mao Tse Dung aficionado, who let slip the quip in a Dominican Republic speech that, “Very rarely did we [Obamians] communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control.”
Dunn added, “We just put that out there and made them write what [David] Plouffe [Obama’s campaign manager] had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it [sic]:” http://bit.ly/4F8XTi.
Media control is the essence of any modern dictatorship.
Throw in the end run being plotted to re-establish the so-called Fairness Doctrine to eliminate conservative talk radio and recent attacks on Fox News aimed at marginalizing/blackballing that network and Obama will have a virtual monopoly over the airwaves.
Still not convinced that this adminstration . . .

When One Lies Down with Dogs, Expect Fleas
When One Lies Down with Dogs, Expect Fleas
We’ve seen it before, countless times before, when rapacious governments seize control of a nation’s media outlets–the daily press, television, radio, periodicals.
It’s SOP for repressive regimes such as those in the U.S.S.R., Nazi Germany, and most recently in Hugo Chavez’ Venezuela, to seize media outlets to insure they pump out only state-sponsored propaganda.
It’s a very effective tactic for totalitarians. It keeps supporters content, it squelches opponents, and it makes things quite comfy for despots with the rabble kept in the dark over what’s really going on in their countries.
The United States has never had the misfortune of suffering a state-controlled, state-run media. Until now.
I should qualify that statement.
America’s mass media is not actually controlled by the leftist government of Barack Hussein Obama and his cohorts.
Rather, in a unique, historical twist, our media have willingly surrendered their journalistic integrity and abandoned their moral, ethical responsibility to objectively report the news. They have of their own volition become the lackeys of Obama.
In a sense, that’s even worse than government seizures.
One problem is, our mass media is no pretty woman anymore. The poor things are just being used and they crave attention and recognition, in addition to appreciating the opportunity to spout their own bile. Fewer and fewer people are buying their papers and magazines, or buying into the slanted tripe served up on television “news.”
And with good reason. Examples of the media surrender are innumerable.
They range from the failure to report on Obama’s numerous flubs during his campaign for the presidency, to the overkill of dozens of Newsweek covers over the course of a year, to the conscious misrepresentations of recent events, to not pointing out that when Rep. Joe Wilson called Obama a liar Obama was lying, to the New York Times burying a story showing is hero’s close ties with the radical ACORN: http://bit.ly/33tm3.
Other recent instances of journalistic prostitution include:
. The failure of the print media such as the Times and the Washington Post to review Mark Levin’s best seller, Liberty and Tyranny, even after it sold over a million copies, http://bit.ly/18B5Us,
. The Post ignoring its own poll since it showed that the more Americans understood Obamacare the more they disliked it, http://tinyurl.com/qyrce7.
. ABC and NBC refusing to air an ad criticizing that reform while falling all over themselves to give Obama airtime to pitch his plot: http://bit.ly/WguyC.
. And the mass of the mass media vastly undercounting the turnout for last Saturday’s huge anti-Obama march in Washington: http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1216.
It’s gut wrenching, sort of, to watch former stalwarts of American culture, such as the “old, grey lady,” fall by the wayside. Then, again, when journalistic ho’s, just like other ho’s, surrender their integrity, well, they get their due comeuppance.
By the grace of God, . . .

The Obamamedia and Home-Schooling
Last week, I said to a liberal friend that, “Well, you won’t see that picture on ABC, CBS, or NBC.”
I was referring to that shot of Obama rushing out of the White House to greet the media after his conciliatory beer fest with Sgt. James Crowley and Harvard prof, Henry Louis Gates.
It was left to Crowley to assist the disabled Gates down the White House steps while Gates’ good buddy sprinted ahead to meet the press.
The friend seemed dubious, wondering why I would think the Obamamedia would censor such pictures. The answer is as obvious as those ears on Obama’s head: Nothing gets publicized by the drive-by, liberal, Obama-idolizing media that could in any way be interpreted as casting a negative light on their hero.
The media don’t, they can’t, admit to censoring such stories and pictures; they prefer to call it selectivity as to what is deemed newsworthy.
GWB, along with former VP Dick Cheney, even after 8 months in Obamaland, considered Nirvanaland by much of the media, continues to be a favorite liberal pinata.
Shots of Bush bumping into a door or flubbing his lines are favorites while Obama bragging about campaigning in all of America’s states never see the light of the drive-by media day.
When a story such as this erupts, “Home-schooler Ordered to Attend Public School, http://tinyurl.com/mqc6ne, we can be certain the mass media will initially ignore it as the disturbed rantings of nutty conservatives.
They said the same thing about Monica Lewinsky until her blue dress became too public to ignore and Bill’s spill, so to speak, hit the fan.
As reported by the Washington Times, the tale of 10 year old, New Hampshire 5th grader, Amanda Kuroski may have tipped the balance on the issue of who “owns” our kids. Actually, no one owns kids, least of all any governments.
Amanda, however, is being treated as if she is the ward of the State of New Hampshire, that former bastion of Republicanism and conservatism, which in its infinite wisdom has decreed that her mom’s religious “rigidity” is a negative influence on the child.
No allegations are being made that her mother was teaching her the Flat Earth Theory or that only white people will be entered into the Kingdom of Heaven.
It’s just that District Court Judge Lucinda V. Sadler felt in her heart of hearts that the poor kid’s “vigorous defense of her [Christian] religious beliefs . . . suggests strongly that she has not had the opportunity to seriously consider any other point of view.”
If I interpret that sentiment correctly, Judge Sadler feels Amanda is more than a tad “vigorous” in her religion, therefore she needs other points of views in her young life, and, ergo, she should be torn from home and hearth and tossed into the maw of the Laconia, N.H. public school system.
Who the hell is this jurist to think she has any judicial or constitutional basis to pass judgment on a parent’s right to do what’s in the best interests of her child? . . .

Obamadulation
Obamadulation
An article in the latest edition of The Economist bemoans the paucity of comic material for mocking President Barack Hussein Obama, suggesting he is just too perfect–and slick–to serve as a target for a comedy routine. Almost in passing, it mentions that, “His race makes some cautious.”
Ya think?
Actually, there are tons of such material available for Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and all the other comedians on cable such as Bill Maher and Jon Stewart for whom nothing was off limits when it came to former President George W. Bush or even his daughters. Indeed, at every opportunity they still lampoon Bush and if no opportunity avails itself, they will simply invent one.
They and their writers simply choose not to use readily available and copious comic material about Obama for a variety of reasons, not least of which is his race.
They dare not go there nor do they dare to target his missteps, misspeaks, and misinterpretations since, as Obama only half-jokingly said at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, most supported his candidacy and voted for him. How would it look, less than 5 months into his reign, if they now made fun of him?
In point of fact, they never will subject Obama to the unrelenting, scathing “humor” to which George Bush was subjected. You simply don’t ridicule a guy with his messianic aura, and complex.
The Economist article, “Read It and Weep” by “Lexington,” http://www.economist.com/world/unitedstates/displaystory.cfm?story_id=13692860, inadvertently says far more about the reasons for the lack of comedic coverage than it does about the reticence of leftists to dare to criticize its living icon, that same President Barack Hussein Obama.
The closest the article gets to a Bush-like assault is this accompanying cartoon depicting a wild onion bouncing across the president’s Oval Office desk and his addled facial expression:
The onion is a reference to the satiric website, Onion.com, which is “unencumbered by any obvious party loyalty” and so continues to hurl barbed headlines and stories including, “Black Man Given Nation’s Worst Job,” which is more a poke at the presidency than at the president.
To suggest that only Onion spoofs can ridicule him with patently-absurd headlines and stories has to be a spoof in and of itself.
“Lexington” goes on to quote various comics on the comedic issues they face with Obama.
Letterman shamelessly lauds him as “cogent, eloquent, and in complete command of the issues” and sighs: “What the hell am I supposed to do with that?” No more clips of “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches” for Dave. After all, that ongoing series contrasting well-rehearsed speeches by FDR, et al. with impromptu George W. remarks, or pauses, or a clip showing Bush trying to exit through a locked door were really, really funny.
Bill Maher complains that Obama is “not fat, not cheating on his wife, not stupid, not angry and not a phoney [sic].” Obesity, although not Oprah’s, is hilarious to Maher as are John Edwards’ screwing around with some bimbo while his wife battles terminal cancer, . . .
