The Brainlessness of Jon Stewart and Rachel Maddow
“Show me a young Conservative and I’ll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I’ll show you someone with no brains.“
That sage observation credited to Winston Churchill holds more truth today in American political circles than it did when he originally uttered it and when its originators, Francois Guisot and, later, Georges Clemenceau, wrote it.
Young, conservative thinkers tend to be perceived as lacking compassion because they strive to have people think and act for themselves rather than relying on government and others to think and act for them. Old liberals, on the other hand, are so trapped in their rigid ideology that they are often perceived as incapable of functioning independently of that ideology.
I’ve been a liberal, back in the days of JFK when liberals, though deluded, were still on the American side and back before I grew up. The experience of evolving into a conservative is closely related to St. Paul’s thought in the First Epistle to the Corinthians: “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child.”
Liberals are both childish in their naïveté and brain-dead in their failure to recognize humanity’s true capacity and vision. Perhaps best epitomizing those qualities are two ultra-liberal television personalities, Jon Stewart and Rachel Maddow.
Comedy Central’s Stewart paid a visit to MSNBC’s Maddow on Thursday night, what had to be tantamount to a homecoming for Stewart, one Jewish lib paying call on another on different but similar liberal turf.
Asked if he thought his “Daily Show” functions only as entertainment, Stewart responded, “I feel more of a kinship to Jerry Seinfeld, than I do to what you guys do or to what, you know, CNN does or what NBC does.” He meant that he sees what he does as political and social satire rather than serious news, far more in the mold of the Smothers Brothers and Bill Maher than of Maddow, CNN, NBC and the other MSM.
That was a revelation to Maddow . . .

Rick Sanchez and CNN's Kingdom of Nay
Rick Sanchez and CNN's Kingdom of Nay
The little I saw of him, Rick Sanchez, formerly host of “Rick’s List” in CNN’s 3-5 p.m. time slot, seemed like a sincere, straightforward, personable enough sort. He was more than a tad too straightforward in a radio interview, hence the reason he’s a former host.
I don’t think I’m in danger of stereotyping when I say Sanchez, a Cuban-born American with no obvious accent, shared a common trait among latinos, that of being passionate, passionate enough to lose his cool–and his job of 6 years with CNN. He got pissed during a Serius/XM radio interview with Pete Dominick and let loose with some opinions which were considered dismissal-worthy by his CNN bosses.
Sanchez’ comments about discrimination in general, about bias against women and Hispanics in particular, and concerning Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart whom he called a bigot, probably wouldn’t have gotten him canned since there’s a provable element of truth in such accusations.
What got him bunches of free time to plug his new book, Conventional Idiocy, Why the New America Is Sick of Old Politics, was not just touching but grabbing onto the third rail with his intimations that Jews controlled the media and with such statements as, “I can’t see somebody not getting a job somewhere because they’re Jewish.”
To that last, Dominick quipped, “Well, then you’ve never been to Nebraska,” but the damage was already done.
I’ve never been to Nebraska, either, nor do I plan on traveling there in the near future or during this lifetime, so I can’t reflect on job opportunities for Jews in the Cornhusker State but I think Sanchez was speaking in generalities with that pretty accurate comment.
Less general were his views on alleged Jewish control of the media. . . .

Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two
Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two
Despite all the damning revelations out of Britain’s East Anglia University, the belly of the global warming conspiracy, COP15, the United Nations’ international climate summit in Copenhagen, will go on as planned.
With President Obama, the twenty-first century’s answer to the indecisive Hamlet, tossing his hat into the climate cesspool, previously-dashed hopes for any successful agreements at COP15 have been resuscitated: http://bit.ly/8kzkhh
Glory be!
That means that the U.N. may yet seduce the United States into agreeing to devastating deals that will benefit the Third World and decimate American industry all because of the proven charade of global warming.
And now for some much needed levity in this miasma:
. Comedy Central’s Resident News Clown: For some inexplicable reason, Jon Stewart, nee’ Jon Leibowitz, is accepted by many as a news source when this clown’s news credibility is a few steps beneath that of George Stephanopoulis’.
Stewart recently performed some amazing mental gymnastics on “The Daily Show,” ridiculing the secretive, criminal actions of the warmist scientists at UEA then, without missing a step, he segued into ripping those who termed the mess that is Climategate.
As we all well know, Earth is inexorably becoming a cauldron.
See Stewart’s act here but especially note the comments on Swamppolitics.com which carried the story.
The commenters show far more astuteness, erudition, and sheer common sense than Stewart and handily refute his futile efforts at resorting to a reductio ad absurdum attack on Climategate: http://bit.ly/7iR9sI
Head for them Thar San Fran Hills!: Austrian-born body-builder, actor of sorts, hubby of a Kennedy, governor of the former great State of Caleeforniah, Arnold Swartzernegger, must be watching too many cataclysm flicks.
He began . . .

Glenn Beck, Leftist Prey
Glenn Beck, Leftist Prey
Dave Letterman likes to spread out his venom.
His tiresome, vengeful attacks on Sarah Palin, his defense against her reaction to his calling her and her daughter virtual sluts and a reflection of his cockiness after skating through his own sex scandals, were getting old and his writers were getting stale in their digs.
They were rescued by the publication of her best seller, Going Rogue, which at once became an ancillary target with Letterman’s brief nightly skit, “Things Better than Reading Sarah Palin’s Book.”
Those film attacks show cars crashing into trees, having one’s head explode in a microvave, and other inane, tasteless disasters as preferable to reading Palin’s book.
They’re getting old as well so last night’s “Top 10″ list on Obama’s interview on FNC branched out by attacking another conservative subject: Coming in at Number One was, “Agreeing that Glenn Beck is a dump.”
Not much better can be expected from crass, dirty Dave and his foul abuse of Beck was not unanticipated given the obsession liberals have with destroying him.
Still, it reinforces an interesting phenomenon, namely that when conservatives becomes too threatening, Leftists like Letterman and others go into spasms in their efforts to bring them down into their own muck and mire.
Mrs. Palin, with her incredible popularity and crowd appeal still tops the Leftist Attack Charts. However, Glenn Beck has gotten way up in their craws, too.
Polls showing Beck’s topping Larry King, Anderson Cooper, Keith Olberman, and Chris Matthews’ combined scores just may be playing a factor in the Left’s angst and venom.
Dirty Dave’s lies and insinuations about Palin–he dare not abuse her daughters again– . . .
