America's Boy Scouts and the Liberals Who Hate Them

On the surface, the Boy Scouts of America oath, “On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law, to help other people at all times, and to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight,” seems an admirable, innocuous, inoffensive promise.




The Scouts are simply pledging to abide by God’s Commandments, the laws of the United States of America and of their organization, to be of assistance when needed, to stay fit, be on their toes, and be decent human beings, all of which vows are commendable to normal people.



Nevertheless, the Boy Scouts oath and everything the 102 year old, 2.7 million member BSA represents are abhorrent to leftists and homosexuals. As for leftist homosexuals, which is pretty much a redundancy, the BSA is considered the equivalent of the KKK, the American Nazi Party, or worse and all because they stand for honor, morality, and common decency.



And, liberals don’t only detest the Boy Scout principles, they are as committed to destroying the BSA as they are to bankrupting Chick-fil-A for its grave offense of publicly announcing a belief in traditional marriage. Americans proclaimed their agreement by flooding Chick-fil-A with business.



The sad reality that the liberal wing of the Democrat Party, another redundancy, opposes both freedom of speech and fundamental Christian beliefs was evidenced twice on CNN, “the most trusted name in news,” first when a gay-skewed panel on Soledad O’Brien’s July 18th “Starting Point” encouraged homosexuals to attack the Boy Scouts, an invitation which was followed by Don Lemon’s guest, ousted Cub Scout leader Jennifer Tyrrell, presenting her case for a lesbian to guide young boys through the treacherous shoals of childhood.



After a two year review, the Boy Scouts of America reaffirmed its ban on gay members, a position supported by the United States Supreme Court more than a decade ago and endorsed by most parents of Scouts.



That BSA decision was immediately attacked by homosexuals as being out of touch with the times and “on the wrong side of history” or, as one gay activist said, “Just because the Supreme Court has said the Boy Scouts are allowed to have this policy does not mean that it is just or that it is consistent with basic human compassion.”

Holiday Peculiarities on CNN and in the Church of England

We’re in the midst of what some call the silly season which is often less silly than it is peculiar, unsettling, and scary. When former NBAer Dennis Rodman announces he’s assembling a topless women’s basketball team, it can be considered just another Rodman oddity.

Other oddities are much more bothersome.

When a Northeastern University Muslim chaplain, Abdullah Faaruuq, who advocates using “the gun and the sword” to advance Islam in America, is subsidized with American taxpayer dollars, it’s outrageous, not silly.

When Bill Maher can get away with tweeting, “Wow, Jesus just f*cked TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve!” it’s obscenely offensive.

When the Rose Bowl Committee chucks time-honored tradition and permits OWS crazies to render farcical the Rose Bowl Parade, it’s a sign people have lost their minds.

Still, the holidays also have lighter moments: Home celebrations and office holiday parties sometimes deteriorate into odd events where Uncle Harold dons a lampshade and the 70 year old boss hits on the 22 year old intern. They are somewhat excusable due the effects of over-indulging in holiday cheer–and booze.

However, Uncle Harold’s excessive celebration and the boss’s befuddlement don’t hold a candle or a bottle to ostensibly sober instances of asinine behavior in the television world and, of all places, in the Church of England.

New Year’s festivities on that bulwark of propriety, CNN, capped off this season’s excursions into the bizarre.

Hosted Saturday night by an exceptionally odd couple–staid, light in the loafers newsperson, Anderson Cooper, and foul-mouthed comedienne, Kathy Griffin–the cablecast featured a Griffin performance which she began by tickling her co-host and asking about his “nether regions.”

It got better.

As revelers reveled in Times Square, the exhibitionist Griffin didn’t drop an F-bomb as she did last year and instead dropped her clothes, stripping down to her Victoria Secret bests and prancing about for the crowd just minutes before the ball dropped and Cooper’s jaw pretended to drop.

Cooper quickly flashed a “NO NUDITY” sign–evidence that the act was staged–and complimented her “hot body.” That observation must be qualified by Cooper’s unfamiliarity with female bodies, hot or not, and by the fact Griffin’s body can be described as “hot” only by Griffin or by the visually-challenged.

David Rodham-Gergen called in and Griffin suggestively invited the RINO–and his wife–to call her before, mercifully, putting her clothes back on.

Classy journalism, CNN, even for New Year's Eve!

I missed it because I was trying to get Uncle Harold to wear a hat in lieu of the lampshade but readers can view CNN’s odd couple in action on my blogsite.

Neither Kathy Griffin nor Anderson Cooper are very entertaining but, in their defense, they try, however lamely. The Church of England’s current Archbishop of Canterbury, doesn’t try at all to entertain yet, in a sick sense, is wildly hilarious. . .

An old friend who perceives himself a quasi-liberal since he and his family members have been labor unionists for generations once said to me, “Well, you get all your news from Fox News.” He had previously blamed Republicans for the election of Barack Hussein Obama because the GOP nominated lame John McCain.

That old union friend was wrong on the first count but probably right on the second.

The only rational explanation for Obama’s election in 2008 is no viable competition but when I do watch television news I split my time pretty equally with the left wing networks and Fox. Like they say, keep your friends close but your enemies closer, an aphorism which could be extended to the much less catchy but equivalently-insightful, Watch the truth compliments of your friends and keep your eye on the prevaricators.

Ok, I freely admit I can't compete with Variety in rhyming or alliterating headlines but nevertheless the stats are in and one mo' time the conservative-leaning Fox News Network, FNC, trounced the leftist-leaning MSNBC, CNN, and other liberal, cable networks in viewership.

That's no surprise since first, "liberal" and "cable" are largely redundant and, second, FOX dominance has been the prevailing trend for years. Nevertheless, the new numbers published on Drudge.com are startling:

Bush Tales from the Vacuous Side: Candy Crowley and the Professor

What does it take for Obama’s MSM to wake up and smell reality? So consumed as they are by lingering hatred of George W. Bush, the poor things can’t see or think straight.

Take CNN’s Candy Crowley. Please. Not that she noticed but Ms. Candy had a reality check during an interview of Bush 43′s Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld who was plugging his new best-seller, Known and Unknown. Apparently she was thinking she was dealing with an Obama lackey when she tried to put words in Rumsfeld’s mouth by alleging “that in two years [Obama] has been able to return this country to a status of being liked across the world in a way that America was not liked during the Bush administration. That he has once again made America a beacon.”

That “beacon” brings to mind Ronald Reagan’s memorable, “America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.” If Crowley was making an attempt to compare Obama with Reagan, she should be committed.

She may have meant one of the two related definitions of “beacon” as “a source of guidance or inspiration” or “a signal fire, especially one used to warn of an enemy’s approach” but that’s unclear, although the latter has some credence. As “a source of guidance or inspiration,” her hero has been a resounding dud unless, that is, Crowley believes guiding a nation toward bankruptcy and dividing a nation along racial, economic, and cultural lines is inspiring.

Like the liberal pit bull she is, Crowley went on, ”Do you agree with that? Do you think that the U.S. is now looked at much differently than it was and much more positively than it was during your tenure?” which was tantamount in stupidity to asking if Moammar Khadafy thought he was near and dear to the hearts of Libyans.

With a studied nonchalance and more patience than most people could muster, Rumsfeld responded, “No. And I don’t think there’s data that supports that,” then added a stinging zinger, “I think he has made a practice of trying to apologize for America. I personally am proud of America.”

Aghast at his response, as any Obamian would be, Crowley soldiered on: ”Well, he seems to be quite popular overseas in a way that President Bush was not. The streets aren’t full of people burning him in effigy. There does seem to be a new–a chance to look at America in a different way than it did during the Bush administration. Ever the gentleman, Rummy politely disagreed and didn’t suggest the obvious, that Candy and her coterie try reading the newspapers rather than just DNC talking points.

A breathless exhibition of venom on Salon.com, a website that makes one wonder whether leftists get nosebleeds high up in their unreal ivory towers, “Who’s the Worst President of Them All,” far surpasses Candy Crowley in both political myopia and pure vitriol in assigning Bush 43 the bottom slot in a virtual tie with James Buchanan.

Some news stories are infuriating, some are validating, some are positively and pathetically amusing. One of each classification follows:

White Boys: They may not be able to jump but at least one black judge in Pennsylvania thinks they get favored treatment.

It should be ironic given President Obama’s post-racial America that Allegheny County Judge Joseph Williams still thinks that way but it’s not ironic at all since Obama’s post-racial America is a sorry joke.

Williams rejected a plea deal of 3 months probation for 24 year old Jeffery McGowan in a case involving a fight with a traffic cop saying that it was “a ridiculous plea that only goes to white boy,” adding that a black defendant in that situation would not have been treated as leniently: http://tiny.cc/o4g9j

The first problem I have with Williams’ statement is that he referred to a 24 year old man as a “white boy.” Unless I’m seriously mistaken, had a white judge called a black defendant, whether he were a 24 or 16 “black boy,” would have been censured, if not fired. Why wasn’t Williams?

The second problem I have with him is that Judge Williams had the audacity to not merely imply but to voice a definitive opinion that his or any court treats blacks and whites differently. If he has any substantive proof of the existence of such blatant racism, he should make that proof known–or keep his mouth shut on the issue.

The little I saw of him, Rick Sanchez, formerly host of “Rick’s List” in CNN’s 3-5 p.m. time slot, seemed like a sincere, straightforward, personable enough sort. He was more than a tad too straightforward in a radio interview, hence the reason he’s a former host.

I don’t think I’m in danger of stereotyping when I say Sanchez, a Cuban-born American with no obvious accent, shared a common trait among latinos, that of being passionate, passionate enough to lose his cool–and his job of 6 years with CNN. He got pissed during a Serius/XM radio interview with Pete Dominick and let loose with some opinions which were considered dismissal-worthy by his CNN bosses.

Sanchez’ comments about discrimination in general, about bias against women and Hispanics in particular, and concerning Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart whom he called a bigot, probably wouldn’t have gotten him canned since there’s a provable element of truth in such accusations.

What got him bunches of free time to plug his new book, Conventional Idiocy, Why the New America Is Sick of Old Politics, was not just touching but grabbing onto the third rail with his intimations that Jews controlled the media and with such statements as, “I can’t see somebody not getting a job somewhere because they’re Jewish.”

To that last, Dominick quipped, “Well, then you’ve never been to Nebraska,” but the damage was already done.

I’ve never been to Nebraska, either, nor do I plan on traveling there in the near future or during this lifetime, so I can’t reflect on job opportunities for Jews in the Cornhusker State but I think Sanchez was speaking in generalities with that pretty accurate comment.

Less general were his views on alleged Jewish control of the media. . . .

I can understand CBS’ desire to dump pretty, perky Katie Couric as its top news anchor since Katie’s only claim to fame is hatcheting Sarah Palin during the last presidential campaign.

Well, that and having an on-air colonoscopy that made Ms. Katie’s rep. Well, that and being one of the cuter cougars on the prowl for young, male stuff.

Is the swisher Cooper the next step in CBS’ death wish, a temporary gay stopgap in the network’s race to the Nielsen basement? If so, CBS has made an awesome pick.

Not exactly the folksy model of Everyman, the son of Gloria Vanderbilt Anderson Cooper lacks the common touch preferred by networks for their anchors. A regular on “60 Minutes,” he does have the anchor gravitas and 7 years experience on “Anderson Cooper 360.”

Aside from his transparently gay demeanor, Andy presents a stiff and unlikable presence on-air. The unmarried, grey-haired 42 year old tipped his grey, gay hand last summer when he let slip a comment on the Tea Party rallies and demonstrations.

In fact, Andy may have coined the absurd link between Tea Party anti-tax rallies and ”teabagging,” an esoteric term formerly known mostly to active homosexuals and referring to the gay practice . . .

Who the hell would name a kid “Anderson,” aside from an artist and heir to the Vandebilt fortune?

Anderson Hays Cooper began life as a child model, presumably not because his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt, needed the bucks. His 23 year old brother, Carter, took a flying leap to his death from the family’s NYC penthouse but Andy eventually blossomed into the anchorman of CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360.”

His show title was quite apt since I’ve always thought Andy was more than a tad light in the loafers and more than a few degrees off compass.

Now Anderson and the truth have been outed, sort of, though Mr. Cooper has yet to admit that he swings the gay way. The Blog Universe has been clamoring for him to confirm the many rumors: http://bit.ly/lBggd

As Seinfeld said, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that,” except that there’s a load wrong with that when it comes to a CNN anchor who, the public usually assumes, maintains a modicum of objectivity.

“White in America” vs CNN’s “Black in America”

I’m White in America, and proud of it.

This past weekend, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien followed her very successful 2008 report, “Black in America,” http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2008/black.in.america/ with a new mini series, “Black in America 2,” http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2009/black.in.america/.

I have to admit that, aside from a few minutes here and there, I didn’t watch either one.

The first special aired, just coincidentally, in the midst of Barack Obama’s campaign for the Democratic nomination for president.

It was touted by CNN as an exploration of ”the varied experiences of black women and families and investigated the disturbing statistics of single parenthood, racial disparities between students and the devastating toll of HIV/AIDS. O’Brien reported on the progress of black women in the workplace and the status of the black middle class.”

It’s difficult to critique something I haven’t seen but, based on that blurb alone, I’d have to say it must have focused on how blacks in America have largely caused their own problems.

I did admire the subterfuge of the accent on black women, which diverted attention away from the idea that it was a free advertisement for the first black man to run for president.

CNN’s/Soledad’s sequel had a much different blurb: ”This July, CNN continues its investigation of the most challenging issues facing African-Americans with ‘Black in America 2.’ Soledad O’Brien reports on people who are using ground-breaking solutions to transform the black experience.”

Based on the touts, it seemed BIA1 emphasized black problems and BIA2 emphasized solutions, which is admirable. It also seems that both specials served to divide rather than unite the races in America by showing their differences and dissimilarities rather than seeking racial unity.

I’m well aware that many if not most African-Americans feel, even in 2009, even after electing a black president, that they are still victimimized in our country whereas the reverse is much more true. Harvard’s Professor Louis Gates is an excellent case in point, a man who has gained it all in America yet smells racism at every opportunity.

Suffice to say, in twenty-first century America, I believe any black in America who sees white racism lurking everywhere or who blames bigotry as the cause of his or her failures in life is delusional. Continued harping on a dead issue only leads to more frustration and less self-application.

I’ve never felt like a minority citizen of the United States of America although I am. I imagine my forebears and fellow Irish Americans’ predecessors more than once felt that way as immigrants on the infamous nineteenth century coffin ships that carried the Irish to this country.. . .

FNC, Tea Parties, Taxes, and CNN

Intertwined: FNC, Tea Parties, Taxes, and CNN

Okay, for the record and lest there be any doubts as to my motivations, affiliations, alienations, sublimations, etc., I hereby issue a disclaimer: I am not now nor have I ever been a journalist nor am I a buddy of Rupert Murdoch nor do I own stock in any Murdoch enterprises, as far as I know.

That said, let’s get real about the constant bashing of FNC, the Fox News Channel, which is (not arguably) the only politically-objective network available on television. As opposed to the former Clinton News Network, CNN, effectively now the Obama News Network and Ted Turner’s fellow travelers, FNC actually does report and lets its viewers decide.

Sure, FNC has right-of-center leanings but nowhere approaching the left-of-center commitments of CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and, as opposed to those “news” networks, FNC features a slew of leftist thinkers and commentators. Try searching for conservatives on the other networks and you would be pushing daisies before you discover more than a handful.

Sure, Fox has the “notorious” Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Neil Cavuto but it also features lefty notables Geraldo, Juan Williams, Ellis Hennican, Eleanor Clift, Bob Beckel, Susan Estrich, Neil Gabler, Susan Estrich, Alan Colmes, until his departure, and a load of others as balancing guests and commentators.

Fox is as fair and balanced as feasible in a news world significantly, liberally, unfair and imbalanced.

Personally, as a news junkie, I try to catch the interpreted news on as many lib channels as possible, given time and interest restraints and as an effort to keep political enemies even closer than friends. Such enemies are capable of doing much more damage to my country and should be watched very, very closely.

What brought all this to mind was the recent flap over those tea parties held on April 15th, the day governments annually and gleefully confiscate Americans’ hard earned money as Americans scramble to either scrape up the funds to pay their taxes or revel in their tax refunds.

The bigger those refunds are, the happier the recipients are. Those generous taxpayers give nary a thought to the fact that they are being refunded monies they had loaned to various levels of government for up to a year, interest free.

The collective public wisdom of those generous citizens is that their returns represent forced savings. The conventional governmental wisdom of those various governments is, “Ya gotta love those suckers!”

None of the above is a divergence from the topics at hand, Fox News Channel, those tea parties, and what Ralph Waldo Emerson called taxes, “the price we pay for civilization.”

Emerson wrote a century and a half ago. If he were alive today, that eminent American philosopher most likely would have attached an addendum to his opinion to the effect, ”Wait, hold on now! I didn’t mean to flush our taxes down sewers!”

Granted he would have phrased that change more delicately. No doubt Ralph Waldo would also have admonished his good buddy, Henry David Thoreau, to stop the chit, forget trying to communicate with ants, and go home to a warm bed.

Ralph didn’t re-phrase and we now have exorbitant, repressive taxation–and good bud Thoreau died of pneumonia after his 2-year sojourn as a camper on Walden Pond, (which is now polluted beyond redemption.)

But FNC is once again getting a bad rap, a reflection of the ascendancy of the Fox network which now is trashing all the others with more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in the April ratings: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/april_ratings_fnc_beats_cnn_and_msnbc_combined_115179.asp.

So, it’s not unexpected for the libs to be ripping Fox, sort of like the, “Let’s get the big guy!” mentality and that ripping has been in progress for almost as long as FNC has been around. Monopolies simply despise upstarts. However, the attacks have evolved into much more than that, as evidenced by the Tea Parties coverage.

The reactions of the monopolists have become positively visceral as CNN, especially, resorts to outrageous distortions and blatant lies to blast the opposition seemingly in hopes of bringing down the news leader.

Actually it demonstrates a palpable fear that not only will the CNNers be hitting the unemployment office eventually but that so many Americans are now getting unadulterated news that the lib stranglehold on TV has been ended permanently. One of many reasons is repressive taxation and we all know how Democrats/liberals love taxes.

Let’s fess up. No one, not even Ralph Waldo, ever likes paying taxes but what conservatives tend to like is that those taxes be used constitutionally, such as paying for the national defense, roads, etc. We also would like the feds to read and adhere to the Tenth Amendment, that last of the Bill of Rights demanded by former colonials which reads, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Farcically and pathetically ignored for nearly eighty years, that amendment to the Constitution was incorporated into our . . .
