. . . Do you now have the moral right, the duty in fact, to kill Adolph Hitler and hopefully stop the mayhem?
On a more theoretical plane, is it incumbent on one human being to do all in his power to stop a madman from wreaking additional untold horrors when you’re certain he is already guilty of capital crimes against humanity?
Some 60,000,000 people died worldwide in World War Two. Some 50,000,000 pre-born babies have had their lives extinguished in the United States alone since the Supreme Court decided in 1973 that abortions should be legal in this country.
That number must have weighed heavily on the mind and soul of Scott Roeder.
Dr. George Tiller of Wichita, Kansas didn’t just perform abortions in his Women’s Health Care Services clinic. He specialized in a procedure practiced by only one other doctor in the country. He performed late term abortions which meant he would literally slice and dice fully-formed infants whose misfortune was to still exist in utero because they hadn’t gotten nature’s signal to be born. . .

Justifiable Murder? Who Was George Tiller?

That fatalistic sense of imminent doom, of forlorn despair and depression over one’s life and over the state of the human animal for different reasons must have afflicted both George Tiller and the man who killed him last May, Scott Roeder.
Roeder, according to his ex-wife, was upset over his inability to pay bills; he went from job to job seeking something, anything, that would fulfill his failed life and give it purpose.
He finally settled on what he saw as the greatest evil in America that he felt was in his power to somehow rectify: abortion. A particular purpose he embraced was fellow Kansan Tiller and Tiller’s chosen occupation of snuffing out the lives of infants in partial birth abortions.
Dr. George Tiller was living a life that was the virtual antithesis of Roeder’s, but was he any less disturbed?
A physician son of an abortionist with an inherited and successful abortion practice, he was married and active in his new church, the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita.
Indeed, almost every account of his murder includes within the first few paragraphs the fact he was killed while serving as an usher, handing out church bulletins in the lobby after Sunday services when Roeder accosted him, put one bullet into his eye and fled.
What’s rarely included in obituaries or articles on the slain Dr. Tiller is that he was handing out those bulletins at Reformation Lutheran because he had been excommunicated from his previous church, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod: http://bit.ly/awWKwL

After a one-week trial, jurors in Kansas deliberated all of 37 minutes before convicting a man charged with murder. Petty larceny trials take longer than that in some venues. This was a kangaroo court with a foreordained conclusion.
Testifying in his own defense, Scott Roeder freely admitted he had premeditated the murder, the execution, of his victim who was serving as an usher at his church on the morning of May 31, 2009 when Roeder entered and shot him in the head.
Within eight months, Roeder had been arrested, arraigned, indicted, tried, and convicted of one count of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, an excellent example either of swift justice or of a swift railroading.
Neither the State of Kansas nor the defendant wanted the case to drag on longer than necessary, the state because it just wanted it over, the defendant because he claimed he committed the crime not to end a life but to save lives and was unashamed and unrepentant for what he did.
The victim, George Tiller, was a physician who took the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm in his practice but who did daily harm for 36 years by performing abortions and specializing in late term abortions of pre-born infants.
Those procedures, the killing of viable babies in the womb, have been termed infanticide. . .

Except for the gravity of the subject, I would get a kick out of feminist objections to the female of the species objecting to men opposing the practice of abortion.
After all, feminists contend, we have no right, as men, to object to or interfere with a woman’s or a teen’s prerogative to terminate the lives of innocent, living, human bodies and souls growing within their wombs. Men don’t have wombs so how can they understand?
Nevertheless, it’s perfectly acceptable to feminists and other pro-abortionists for male doctors to act as terminators.
Perhaps they figure males are more proficient than females in killing babies?
The age old Hippocratic Oath to do no harm was long ago trashed, by the United States Supreme Court in 1973 with its Roe v. Wade decision which gave doctors the legal right to perform abortions.
Substituted as the new oath, ”Do whatever is needed to keep a pregnant patient content, and then proceed to slice, dice, or burn to death her innocent pre-born child.”
One of the two doctors in America who specialized in aborting the lives of full-term, fully developed fetuses was Dr. Joseph Tiller who was murdered in his church by a maniacal fruitcake, http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1043
Taking up the slack is the last doctor standing in the USA who takes pride in executing babies on the verge of birth, Warren Hern, M.D., owner and only practitioner at the Boulder (CO) Abortion Clinic.
Far be it from me to try to comprehend what motivates any individual to commit abortions let alone specialize in aborting full-grown infants in a procedure best known as partial birth abortions. Some are afflicted with congenital “birth defects,” some are not, but to Doctors Hern and Tiller it never mattered. . .

Postscript for Dr. George Tiller
Those, like me, who wanted to get a look at the website of Dr. George Tiller after his murder Sunday morning in Wichita discovered that the website had been taken down, within 24 hours of his death. Thanks to the efforts of pro-life activist Randall Terry and others, that website was somehow “recovered:” http://web.archive.org/web/20080118044720/www.drtiller.com/mainpg.html.
Since then, the site, www.drtiller.com/ , has become accessible on the web although with inactive links.
Below is a portion of the home page which includes active links to his “Women’s Health Care Services, P.A.”
“Women’s Health Care Services is a professional organization dedicated to providing expert, confidential, and respectful abortion care. We have a national and international reputation for providing the highest quality abortion services in a safe and caring environment. Kindness, courtesy, justice, love and respect are the cornerstones of our patient-provider relationships. “We have an unparalleled record of safey in late abortion services and we have more experience in late abortion services over 24 weeks than anyone else currently practicing in the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Australia.”
Why the site was initially unavailable is a matter of some conjecture; Terry suggests the reason was to conceal the details of what actually went on at Tiller’s “clinic:” http://overturnroe.com/.
However, the various links are as misleading as the facility’s name, “Women’s Health Care Services.” It’s difficult to understand how Tiller’s abortion mill, primarily dedicated to extinguishing the lives of very viable babies, i.e., infants fully capable of living outside the mother’s womb, could have been construed as providing any measure of “health care” to the mothers-to-be. It was also demonstrably unconcerned with the health of the babies killed on the premises.
Similarly, the links on Tiller’s website were clearly intended to cloak the gory specifics of his facility. The words of a Tiller victim,”Kelly,” put the lie to his website subterfuges:. . .

May Dr. George Tiller NOT Rest in Peace
By now, most conscious people are aware of the mindless execution of Dr. George Tiller, allegedly by Scott Philip Roeder. Tiller was shot to death while serving as an usher inside Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday, May 31st.
The proper reactions at this point after this reprehensible act of ultimate violence would be to extend one’s deepest sympathies to his family and friends, which I do, and to say the usual, may Tiller rest in peace, which I cannot bring myself to do.
That sentiment or, more precisely lack of sentiment, in itself would appear to be reprehensible but it is defensible.
Senseless murder can never be condoned and before anyone alleges that capital punishment is murder let’s make it clear that such executions are both legal and anything but senseless. The escape two days earlier by two convicted murderers from an Arkansas prison represents further testimony for the necessity of capital punishment. By now, they could be replicating more capital murders.
The murder of Tiller in his church by a crazed fool can never be condoned under any circumstances. If his killer felt he was following God’s will, he is an even greater fool since the murder will undoubtedly redound against the pro-life, right to life movement and provide fodder for abortionists to claim we who are pro-life are no better than they.
Equally idiotic are those who would suggest Tiller’s murder was an act of justifiable homicide because of the doctor’s practice of terminating innocent lives in late-term abortions.
As sick as those actions are, to kill such practitioners–and he was only one of two doctors in the country who performed such abortions–is never justifiable in a nation committed to the rule of law. To defend Tiller’s death as justifiable is to invite vigilantism and chaos.
Roeder’s motives are still unclear but whatever they are, and if he is duly tried and convicted, he should be put to death for his actions. Twenty-four hours later, police have not connected him with any anti-abortion groups, most of which have expressed their shock and regret over the heinous crime.
That said, in defense of my personal inability to hope Tiller rests in peace, I could no more extend that wish than a Jewish individual could hope that the Nazi “Angel of Death,” Dr. Josef Mengele, rests peacefully in the hereafter. If any Jews are capable of that, I can only say they are exceedingly magnanimous and forgiving, much moreso than I.
Mengele may have been responsible for the torture and death of thousands at Auschwitz. Tiller bragged of having performed over 60,000 abortions at his “clinic,” mostly late term abortions killing viable, near-birth, fully-formed victims, some performed on girls who were minors.
