Our United Nations, Our World, Our Folly

Our United Nations, Our World, Our Folly

We should all treasure the United Nations. As its website proclaims, “It’s your world!” According to that website, “The U.N. has 4 main purposes

To keep peace throughout the world;
To develop friendly relations among nations;
To help nations work together to improve the lives of poor people, to conquer hunger, disease and illiteracy, and to encourage respect for each other’s rights and freedoms;
To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations to achieve these goals.”

What rational being, what American, what Zambizean or Moldavian or Kazakhstanian could take issue with that lofty dedication to peace, friendliness, respect, and harmony among nations, none of which the U.N. has come even close to realizing?

Forget the origins of the U.N., the sleazey ngotiations that led to its founding, the able assistance in that endeavor of convicted Soviet spy and perjurer, Alger Hiss. Forget its repetitive, abject failures in the 66 years of its existence, the presence of China, Cuba, and Libya on its “Human Rights Council,” its consistently anti-Americanism over the years. The U.N. is “our world.”

The United Nations began with 51 nations after World War II and has now blossomed into a bloated membership of 192 countries, most of which have, if not outright contempt for its chief benefactor, the United States, a studied, diplomatic disregard for our interests.

Despite all the negatives, the U.N. has evolved into the international organization par excellence, the organization that has been impotent in ending the unending wars since WWII, the last best hope for mankind. Oh, it also dispatches kids on Halloween to beg for UNICEF money.

The U.N. Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon of the Republic of South Korea, just announced an exciting new initiative.

For some historical perspective, Mr. Ban succeeded Ghanian Kofi Annan. Annan had followed Egypt’s D.r. Boutros Boutros-Ghali and personally presided over the genocide in Rwanda. He was rewarded for that disservice with the office of Secretary General. Wearing his new hat, he oversaw a U.N. sex harrassment scandal, the Oil-for-Food Scandal, and his son, Kojo Annan raking off millions in that mess.

Kofi was again rewarded, with a Nobel Peace Prize.

Anyway, in recognition of the United Nations’ “World Day of Social Justice,” . . .

Obamanation News

Obamanation News

As the president continues to berate BP into bankruptcy and his hapless second-in-command toots his own vuvuzela at the World Cup, other news about this president and his administration tends to get lost in the news shuffle which doesn’t make those stories less significant even if they are buried and/or ignored by the MSM.

For example, we have the story of what constitutes Obama’s prime constituency which, almost exclusively, consists of “unmarried, unchurched, poor and inexperienced people, . . . [and] Ph.Ds,” according to an interpretation of a new Gallup poll.

The PhD part makes that an odd mix, unless we factor in that the letters PhD very often stand for Piled higher and Deeper by overachievers.

Gallup’s latest poll shows Obama’s overall popularity at a new low of 46% and that he is strongest among the younger folk, those who don’t attend church regularly, and those who earn less than $2000 a month–as well as eggheads

Even worse for the president, his popularity numbers among the poor and non-churchgoers are declining: http://bit.ly/b8QLSG

We should probably expect a multi-billion dollar popularity bailout in the near future. . .

Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two

Climate/Climategate Updates Part Two

Despite all the damning revelations out of Britain’s East Anglia University, the belly of the global warming conspiracy, COP15, the United Nations’ international climate summit in Copenhagen, will go on as planned.

With President Obama, the twenty-first century’s answer to the indecisive Hamlet, tossing his hat into the climate cesspool, previously-dashed hopes for any successful agreements at COP15 have been resuscitated: http://bit.ly/8kzkhh

Glory be!

That means that the U.N. may yet seduce the United States into agreeing to devastating deals that will benefit the Third World and decimate American industry all because of the proven charade of global warming.

And now for some much needed levity in this miasma:

. Comedy Central’s Resident News Clown: For some inexplicable reason, Jon Stewart, nee’ Jon Leibowitz, is accepted by many as a news source when this clown’s news credibility is a few steps beneath that of George Stephanopoulis’.

Stewart recently performed some amazing mental gymnastics on “The Daily Show,” ridiculing the secretive, criminal actions of the warmist scientists at UEA then, without missing a step, he segued into ripping those who termed the mess that is Climategate.

As we all well know, Earth is inexorably becoming a cauldron.

See Stewart’s act here but especially note the comments on Swamppolitics.com which carried the story.

The commenters show far more astuteness, erudition, and sheer common sense than Stewart and handily refute his futile efforts at resorting to a reductio ad absurdum attack on Climategate: http://bit.ly/7iR9sI

Head for them Thar San Fran Hills!: Austrian-born body-builder, actor of sorts, hubby of a Kennedy, governor of the former great State of Caleeforniah, Arnold Swartzernegger, must be watching too many cataclysm flicks.

He began . . .

Climategate Part One

Climategate, Part One
In normal times, i.e., pre-politically correct, pre-Obama times, the slowly evolving truth about global warming/cooling/climate change would be blockbuster news and the whole sleazy story would already be in development as a movie.

Granted, Oliver Stone wouldn’t be falling all over himself trying to get the tale of Climategate onto the silver screen and into a theater near you but more reputable writers, directors, and producers–whoever they are–would just love to film an expose’ of the global warming charade to acquaint the American people with the fact they have been had for decades.

That wishful-thinking scenario of reputable Hollywoodians exposing the truth about the baloney-science climate farce is as probable as Adam Lambert going hetero or Patrick Kennedy going Catholic.

Regardless of Hollywood and related charlatans, thanks to computer hackers, the truth is finally slithering out about climate change and, God willing, Americans may soon be free of the meticulously-designed guilt for our reprehensible and willful destruction of Planet Earth.

If and when that happens, we hapless human Americans may finally rest easy content in the knowledge that we didn’t cause it and whether it even exists outside the venal minds of greedy publicity hounds in academia and self-serving politicos is very suspect.

The MSM, not unexpectedly, has chosen to either downplay or totally ignore the story out of Britain that has been tagged “Climategate” thereby linking it with the Nixonian political scandal of Watergate.

Such linkage does a disservice to the scope of this scandal which far surpasses in gravity Watergate and even surpasses the papal rebuke of Nicolaus Copernicus and his cockamamie cosmological theory of a heliocentric universe.

In the sixteenth century, only maniacs believed the Earth was not the center of the universe. In the twenty first century, only muckraking, semi-retarded conservatives rejected anthropomorphic/anthropogenic climate change.

Those sixteenth century maniacs were proven less maniacal than seers. The twenty first century idiots are now in the slow progress of being proven prophets.

Thank you very much! . . .

Malaria vs. Death

Malaria and Death or DDT and Life: Pick Just One

Suppose we could save a million (human) lives a year, 85% of which were children’s lives, or lose the brown pelican forevermore. The vast majority of us would opt for the million humans over a bird, I would hope.

Sub-Saharan Africans don’t have much of a choice between people over birds. There the scourge of malaria kills one child every 30 seconds, according to the African Environmentalist Association: http://bit.ly/WE8DQ

Malaria is sometimes called “Africa’s common cold,” but it’s not quite the equivalent of a mild cough, sniffles, and a sore throat. The debilitating disease causes high fevers, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, brain damage, and, often, death.

Chicken soup or Vick’s VapoRub have no salutary effect on its victims.

There is an effective remedy for the deaths and the billions spent on treating malaria in African nations where costs can exceed 40% of health allocations. Those countries can afford the deaths but can ill-afford the billions spent to treat malaria victims.

The catch? The remedy is frowned upon by the UN’s World Health Organization, WHO.

As a mosquito-borne disease, logically, malaria is best prevented by the eradication of ’skeeters but the best preventative, DDT, is verbotten by WHO . . .

The U.N., a Boil on the Arse of America

The U.N., a Boil on the Arse of America

We should have known at the inception of the United Nations when the U.S.S.R. was accorded three separate votes in the General Assembly that the whole idea was a bad deal for the United States.

We should have known but we didn’t, or else we did know and bought into the deal anyway because, ostensibly, it was all in the interests of a lasting world peace, aka, pie in the sky.

Then, too, convicted Soviet spy, Alger Hiss, helped establish the structure of the U.N. However, that was before the Cold War with the Soviet Union so his machinations must have been motivated by the purest and most patriotic intentions.

The fact that the world hasn’t had any real peace since the U.N. entered the geopolitcal picture still hasn’t resonated with many Americans and the fact that nothing the U.N. has ever done has favored American interests. We still pour money and precious military resources into that cesspool.

The U.N. has been and will continue to be the proverbial teats on a bull while posing as mankind’s savior and American suckers will continue to subsidize that sad excuse for a deliberative, international body.

Far worse, the rotting building on New York City’s East River and its thousands of rotten, resident delegates and functionaries represent the most insidious, dangerous force we have ever faced.

Too many books and articles, including any number of articles in this space, have been written on the fraud that is the United Nations to beat that dead horse so let’s just focus on one of its most recent foray into diplomacy.

US Drones May Be Tantamount to Summary Executions: Of all institutions, the U.N. should be the last to speak of drones but this week U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions Philip Alston did just that.

With that ostentatious title, I guess Mr. Alston feels he’s entitled to address any issue he damned well pleases. . . .

GAY WATCH

GAY WATCH: GWB, THE POPE, U.N., OBAMA

It never seems to end.

I’m not referring to the Governor Blago–Chicago–Obama–Rezko affair(s), which won’t end for months and which may be concluded with more resignations and indictments than just Illinois Governor Blagojevich’s.

I refer to Gays in the News.

First, we have the LGBT set, (that’s the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered set, for those not in the know), which is up in arms over President Bush’s and America’s silence on the U.N.’s statement calling for decriminalization of homosexuality.

It has not yet been set in stone, but the United States is the only Western nation that has not endorsed the proposal: http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid68209.asp.

The entire European Union is on board but some 80 or 86 other nations still regard homosexual activities to be illicit and 5 impose the death penalty for such intercourse. One gay activist stated, “Washington will lose ever more respect and credibility if it fails to endorse this statement of support for LGBT human rights.”

This “gay friendly” website, http://mwcnews.net/content/view/27122&Itemid=1, points out that the only nation in the Middle East that supports a U.N. declaration is Israel.

I say kudos to Bush and our United Nations team. I think executing gays for acting out sick, gay behavior is extreme and unjust but I also think we shouldn’t endorse such perversity.

Second is this story about the Vatican’s opposition to that same U.N. declaration which, in effect, declares that homosexuality is fine and dandy and which opposition gays consider “grotesque”: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,464245,00.html.

With that disapproval, Pope Benedict XVI and the Vatican are simply adhering to time-honored and Biblical proscriptions against the “abomination” that is homosexuality.

Times may change and agitators may agitate but if the Church ever becomes influenced to change its fundamental precepts by changing times and protests it will no longer be the Catholic Church. It will become the equivalent of Imus’ “First Church of the Gooey Death and Discount House of Worship.”

In that eventuality, the Catholic Church will not deserve to survive so I therefore accord encouragement, and more kudos, to my Church.

Finally,...
