Observations on Crimes and the People Who Commit Them
Criminality like poverty will always be with us. It doesn’t take an unemployed NASA scientist to realize that, as long as the human species reproduces unsavory malcontents, greedy thieves, and amoral sociopaths, some people will assault, rob, maim, and murder other people.
Crime and criminals exist in every socio-economic strata with those in the “upper classes” most often engaging in major thievery and embezzlement–like the master of the Ponzi scam, Bernie Madoff–although the rich and famous aren’t exempt from murderous escapades–like rock impresario Phil Spector.
Other classes are more likely to indulge in a wider variety of criminality, what some sociologists explain away as a consequence of their status: In effect, they steal because the devil or their mama made them do it and they maim, murder, and wreak havoc because they don’t know any better due to poor parenting, impoverishment, social inequities, and societal-legal discrimination.
All of that, of course, is hogwash. Poor criminals become criminals for the same fundamental reasons the rich become criminals: a lack of respect, for themselves, for the law, for common decency, and for other people.
The Irish were notorious criminals a century ago. The term “paddy wagons” dates to the nineteenth century and referred to New York City police vehicles used to transport often drunk and disorderly, legal Irish immigrants arrested during Civil War draft riots and, afterward, apprehended for petty thievery or worse misdeeds.
The Irish–and Italians, to a lesser extent–climbed out of that political rut because they gained, earned, and learned respect for themselves, etc.
Today, although it’s politically incorrect to articulate it and the FBI is no longer allowed to track crime on racial bases, the unfortunate truth is that African-Americans per capita are responsible for far more criminal activity than whites. This widely-understood, but minimized, ignored, and buried fact of criminal life was previously detailed in “Taboo! The Truth about Black Crime,” http://bit.ly/nPFZFm.
That said, it’s incontestable that, compared to whites, blacks represent a grossly disproportionate number of inmates in U.S. jails and prisons. However, the rate of black incarceration is not attributable to racism, as racial agitators contend with scant proof, but to the reality that African-Americans are disproportionately guilty of the commission of crimes.
That brings us back to the root question of, Why? In turn, the “why” leads us to the aforementioned dearth of respect and those same agitators who make their street creds–and all too frequently win elections--by perpetuating the racism myth as the cause . . .

Saggy Pants and Black History Month
Saggy Pants and Black History Month
The city fathers and mothers of Long Beach, CA, have taken it upon themselves to neaten up certain young Long Beach residents by insisting that they “pick ‘em up and keep ‘em up,” (“em” being their pants.)
More precisely, “Bishop William Ervin along with Carson City Councilman Mike Gipson are calling on black children and teens to ‘pull up their pants on their waist’ as a sign of respect during Black History Month.” As a white elder, that insistence is as perplexing as Black History Month.
What Bishop Ervin and Councilman Gipson seem to be implying is that young black boys and men–young black girls and women seem to know where their waistlines are–are somehow demeaning black history by exhibiting their underwear. That fashion statement, whatever the nature of that statement is, and that concern, are baffling since there are so many other black issues the bishop and councilman could be addressing.
Other words of wisdom offered for black youths by the Long Beach community include, “You can have the swag without the sag” and a reminder that “the [pants-uplifting] plan is not just for cultural purposes, but may have legal benefits as well: sagging pants are often used for profiling purposes by law enforcement agencies:” http://tiny.cc/xllys
The “cultural purposes” reference eludes me but the lesson is that you can swagger without the sagger and if you insist on the sag look, you risk being arrested during, before, and after Black History Month.
I doubt many black youths are being arrested for saggy pants but untold numbers are being arrested for burglaries, robberies, aggravated assaults, rapes, motor vehicle thefts, gun possession, etc.
It’s unfortunate that Ervin, Gipson, and the other community leaders didn’t see fit to caution them on that aspect of life . . .

The War in Our Streets, Part One
There’s very definitely a war in progress on America’s streets, a number of wars, really.
Some could be termed skirmishes such as the ongoing war against crime, particularly in our cities and more particularly within our inner cities where minorities continue to commit mayhem and murder almost with impunity.
Another is a more recent series of battles involving patriotic and God-fearing Americans who cherish our country and who dearly hope for its survival in the face of an invasion across our southern, swiss cheese-y border.
As serious as those struggles are, the most dangerous at the moment is the war that our commander-in-chief refuses to concede even exists, the war against Islamic terrorism.
The title of a Pat Buchanan article, “Is the War Coming Home?” poses what must be a rhetorical question since surely Buchanan is well aware that the undeclared war with Islam “came home” years before the unsuccessful effort to murder thousands in Times Square on May 1st. . .

When “Kids” Rape
In the interests of what’s left of a woman’s dignity, news accounts of rape stories customarily omit the identity of the victim, which is altogether reasonable and proper. There’s no crying public need to reveal that information.
At the same time, those accounts also avoid identifying the alleged attacker, not because until he is tried and convicted the charge is still technically an allegation but because he is a minor. If it happens that he is at least 18, his name is publicized loudly and clearly in both print and broadcast media but different rules apply with minors.
Why?
Why is it that a 15, 16, or 17 year old accused assailant in such a crime is protected and coddled by the media while an 18 year old is not? Likewise, why is it that one piece of critical information about an accused assailant, his race, is usually omitted from news reports?

As long as mankind is imperfect, human societies will be imperfect and one glaring imperfection is the prevalence of criminal activities. When we ignore or deny the truth concerning the perpetrators of crime we not only perpetuate but encourage such activities.
Such is the prevailing wisdom today in America where political correctness–and fear–dictate domestic policy with regard to law enforcement, such as with profiling, and media reports regarding Black on Black and Black on White crimes.
The motivation for the PC element is obvious: Suck up.
The fear element is rooted in the terror politicians feel should they speak the truth and thereby incur the wrath of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and their ACORN minions at election time.
As noted in the first of this “Taboo!” series, “It’s one thing if Blacks choose to maim and murder other Blacks. When they choose to visit mayhem on others, they should take into account that they are a minority,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1243, point being that neither the majority of a people and certainly not a minority are permitted to get away with murder.
And murder, as well as every other crime imaginable, is rampant in Black communities.
Ta-Nahisi Coates, a Black woman, contends in an expletive-laden article on, of all websites, TheAtlantic.com, that Blacks deeply care about the violence epidemic among their own.
She concludes, based on her close observation, that “the sentiment that black people are unconcerned about black on black crime is simply wrong:” http://bit.ly/1cFB0e.
If Coates is correct, it’s difficult to comprehend why the mayhem continues unabated, even with Black idol, Bill Cosby, preaching values, restraint and personal responsibility.
Another observer draws a parallel between abortions and Black crime, sugesting that if abortion were not legalized in 1973 Black criminal rates would be even more astronomical. See the charts and data for pre- and post- Roe v Wade crime here: http://bit.ly/GX7uR.
One oft-heard, simplistic defense for Black crime stats is that they aren’t true, that more Whites are evil-doers, and more Whites are serving prison time. It’s a simplistic argument since Whites outnumber Blacks in America by a ratio of 5 to 1 that more Caucasian reprobates would be reasonable.
We also hear that so great a percentage of Blacks, principally, young, male Blacks, are imprisoned in America’s jails not due to their crimes but because of racial discrimination.
That’s tantamount to saying that a much lower percentage of White people who should be in prison are comfortably ensconced in their homes watching the boob tube and swilling Budweisers simply because of their race.
In other words, murders, robberies, assaults, rapes, burglaries, etc. have absolutely nothing to do with rates of incarceration. It all goes back to racism, as does the sad inability of swine to fly.
Then we come to the issue of interracial crimes. . . .

Taboo! The Truth About Black Crime: Part I
With news that 4 youths have been arrested in the brutal murder of a student at Fenger High in Chicago which follows by a week an attack on student aboard a school bus in Missouri, the issue of crime in America has once again been moved to the top of the page.
The horrendous Chicago act involved a Black boy, Derrion Albert, an innocent bystander to a wild ruckus, who was set upon by fellow Blacks for no apparent reason and beaten, kicked, and pummeled to death.
Derrion happened to be in a very wrong place at an extremely wrong time and died because of it.

The earlier St. Louis incident involved a White boy in search of a seat on the bus who was furiously beaten by a Black boy for that impertinence. Fortunately, with no thanks to the school bus driver, the unidentified White boy wasn’t murdered and his assailants were later arrested.
That incident was first cited as a hate crime but after police authorities reviewed the tape, and consulted with their superiors, that charge was dropped in favor of simple assault and a charge of bullying.
I really doubt that assault would be described as mere bullying by the assaulted, especially during his vicious pummeling, but on reconsideration of his survival probabilities had he pushed for hate crime charges, he didn’t push.

The chief parallels between those 2 stories are senseless violence and that subject which has been relegated to non-PC status, Black crime in America.
Not too many years ago, the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports Program, UCR, broke down crime stats according to race. That ended even before the logical, reasonable practice of racial profiling was technically banned because pressure groups protested against the stats and profiling.
And a law enforcement deterrent logic was flushed.
Bill Cosby is one Black who has spoken out against the rampant violence in Black communities thoughout America. . . .
