Connecting the Terror Dots

Connecting the Terror Dots

Dave Letterman has been getting a lot of mileage, and a lot of laughs, out of the Gulf oil disaster that killed 11 Americans and which is an environmental catastrophe. On Monday, he began milking the Times Square failed terrorist attack for all the yuks it was worth. On Tuesday, he linked the two, asking the rhetorical and inane question, Which is worse?

For Mr. Letterman’s edification, what happened to British Petroleum’s offshore oil rig was, apparently, a deadly accident. What happened Saturday in the crowded “Crossroads of the World” was just one more in a series of planned but fortunately foiled terror attacks on our homeland.

Neither should be a source of amusement even for Letterman.

What is also not amusing is the recent escalation of successful and unsuccessful Islamic terrorist attacks–there, I’ve said it, Mr. Obama!–on American soil, an escalation which should give pause to those who refuse to admit we’re in an undeclared war on terrorism, or that the United States is in imminent danger. . .

Where Does Obama Dig Up These People?

Where Does Obama Dig Up These People?

We’re shackled to this president we have now for 3 more years and based on his track record of the last 12 months, it’s going to be a very long 3 more years.

Aside from his radical left wing policies, nationalizing auto companies, attempting to turn our health care into a replica of the U.K.’s socialistic system, pouring trillions down ratholes, bailing out the UAW, his foreign policy failures and his broken pledges, it seems he gets his nominees to top administrative positions from an office pool of rejects.

It began with various tainted Cabinet picks, from tax cheats like Tom Daschle and Tim Geithner, and continued with guys about to be indicted such as Bill Richardson, to racist czars like Van Jones, to an attorney general who had defended terrorists, to a whole slew of people who don’t seem to know what they’re supposed to be doing, like Janet Napolitano.

The list goes on and on. Who vets these characters?

The latest loser just withdrew his name from consideration to head the Transportation Security Administration, a rather significant job considering the general state of America’s security and the recent attempt by yet another Islamic jihadist to blow up a plane on Christmas Day.

On the surface, Erroll Southers had great credentials.

Self-described apolitical “counterterrorism expert,” . . .

Obama's Insecure Last War Doctrine, Part I

Obama’s Insecure Last War Doctrine Part I

All the hullabaloo over the Obama administration’s original laissez faire attitude toward the Christmas Day near-catastrophic event in the Detroit skies is bewildering to my simple mind.

First, DHS Secretary Janet “What Threat?” Napolitano says it’s all good, that the “system worked,” after it didn’t work, then says the system sucks, then says it was an isolated incident.

Three days later our vacationing president chimes in with a call for action to forestall any repetition of such isolated incidents.

Isolated? My foot! Is anyone in charge here?

The pols on both sides of the aisle are shocked, shocked, I tell you, at the ineptitude and complacency of our . . .
