Mayhem in Tucson V: Obama Talks the Talk
On Wednesday, President Obama visited gravely wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in her hospital room and later revealed during his address at a memorial service for the slain and injured in Tucsonthe very good news that Giffords had opened her eyes for the first time since she was shot.
In his speech, he called for America’s healing even as his Secretary of State was preaching more divisiveness.
Obama pleaded for national healing in the aftermath of the tragedy which resulted in 6 deaths and 13 wounded, allegedly by Jared Loughner wielding a Glock 19. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton speaking in faraway Dubai was wielding her own weapon, her inflammatory rhetoric, by condemning ”an extremist in our country” and comparing Loughner to Islamic terrorists: http://tiny.cc/da9cu
Mrs. Clinton is as out of touch as she is out of the country: Loughner is a certifiable nutcase not a terrorist and to compare him to Muslims committed to worldwide chaos and destruction is as absurd as thinking Obama truly wants “healing” or believing the MSM is onboard in any process of harmonious conciliation. . .

Obama's Lackluster Speech
Even as PublicPolicyPolling.com released a poll showing “a majority of voters [in Louisiana] think George W. Bush did a better job with Katrina than Obama’s done dealing with the spill. 50% of voters in the state, even including 31% of Democrats, give Bush higher marks on that question compared to 35% who pick Obama,” the president sashayed over to the Oval Office to deliver his first-ever speech from that location.
It didn’t go over very well, according to the dynamic trio of MSNBC’s loquacious but empty talking heads, Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, and Harold Fineman.
When liberals on a liberal cable network lambaste a liberal president, you have to know the goose is cooked and that something, more likely a great deal of somethings, is amok.
Matthews, who will go down in the annals of presidential campaign history as the only presumably heterosexual male reporter who twice felt a thrill run up his leg in the presence of Barack Hussein Obama, was the most surprising. . .

Small Consolations
Small Consolations
There’s some small consolation in the hackneyed truism that some things never change. A very small consolation.
On the eve of the president’s highly touted address to the nation on what he called during the campaign the “necessary” war, the Reid-ites are again crawling out of the Democratic woodwork.
By hearing the struggle in Afghanistan was “necessary,” the electorate may have foolishly assumed Obama must have meant it was an absolute requisite that we win it.
After months of conferencing and soul-searching (and weighing the political repercussions?), after months of diddling and dithering while our undermanned troops needlessly died, we should find out tomorrow whether Obama said what he meant and meant what he said.
Pre-empting the West Point speech with what has become typical Democrat sentiment, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee Rep. David Obey has already pulled a Harry Reid by announcing the anticipated troop surge is ”a fool’s errand.”
You may remember Harry, the soon-to-be-deposed Democrat Nevada senator who infamously and incorrectly denounced GWB’s Iraq surge as a failure before it began. That troop increase in 2007 proved to be the turning point in the Iraq War.
Now Obey has taken up the defeatist Dem line, but with a twist.
Feigning interest in winning in Afghanistan, the Wisconsin pol told CNN, “The problem is you can have the best policy in the world but if you don’t have the tools to implement it it isn’t worth a bean bag:” http://bit.ly/80Q3XA
Obey would purchase those tools . . .

A Teachable Moment or an Alinsky Seduction?
On the surface, there’s nothing really inappropriate for the president of the United States to address America’s children on their first day of school, Tuesday, September 8th. After all, he is the president, a role demanding leadership of all citizens, including kids.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan in his letter to the principals of every school in the country writes that the speech represents an ”historic moment” and that its primary purpose “is to challenge students to set goals, work hard and stay in school. This isn’t a policy speech:” http://bit.ly/YPFH2
All well and good, so far, but here the problems start.
First Problem: The text of the 15-20 minute address won’t be released until Monday, September 7th, which just happens to be Labor Day, a national holiday.
That release date smacks of the tactics near and dear to the hearts of this “transparent” administration, . . .
