Can things get any worse for teens in America?
Sure they can. Just give it time.
Life in these United States has gotten far more complex–and disturbing–since the days of my youth in the 1950′s when most Americans liked Ike, we enjoyed relative peace, homosexuals were considered weirdos, the concept of global warming was as global cooling, and young girls were considered “loose” if they engaged in heavy “petting.”
There were racial agitators and other extremists in our midst back then, the USSR was constantly threatening to somehow bury us, and Communists had infiltrated our government but nothing so altered moral behavior as Bill Clinton’s attitude toward sexual mores and conduct.
Loose-girl petting as a social issue long preceded a president who didn’t believe oral sex constituted sex at all and thereby effectively authorized the practice as a favorite indoor–and outdoor–sport for sexually-active teens.
If the president of the United States believed oral sex wasn’t sex, what could be wrong with it?
One of the most marked changes over the past decade has been the evolution in America–more properly, the devolution–of teenage girls with regard to “non-sex” and “real sex.” Another has been teens feeling free to voice their often un-PC opinions on controversial issues for all the world to see.
Those changes have been facilitated by social media websites such as Facebook and on YouTube which have enabled teens to express themselves, often inappropriately; the internet, texting, and sexting have enabled kids to pretend act like licentious adults at the same time it has enabled pedophiles to prey on them, as seen on such television shows as NBC’s “To Catch a Predator.”
Sometimes, too often, young girls have used their new-found outlet for self-expression have taken ugly turns.
For example, two articulate kids at Gainesville High School in Florida saw fit to post a 14-minute racially-charged video on YouTube in which they voiced reprehensible views about African-Americans at their school.
Regardless of the unvarnished truth in the obscenity-laden video–saying such things as many blacks were food stamp recipients, were on welfare yet dressed in designer clothing, and didn’t speak ”normal” English–they were expelled, one permanently, the other placed on probation. They also spoke highly of hard-working blacks and they and their families issued profuse apologies, but that didn’t matter.
The two had commited a grievous, politically-incorrect offense by speaking their minds and thinking the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of speech was still in effect. As a result, they and their families have been harassed and threatened and the girls have had to go into hiding because of what was essentially a teenage indiscretion.
The question arises as to which was worse, the indiscreet video or the threats of physical harm and intimidation they were subjected to. Evidently, in the eyes of Gainesville High School administrators, it was the former.
So, too, did a similar racist video posted by two girls at Santaluces High School in Palm Beach County cause an uproar.
Among other negative comments about African-Americans at their school, one girl said, “It’s kinda sad cause like, I don’t like black people. They’re annoying. They stink. They’re ugly.” The other rejoined, “Some are nice. They’re pretty. Look at Tyra Banks!”
It’s very apparent that those four teens aren’t alone in their views rejecting contemporary political correctness and PC’s doctrines of diversity and inclusion. It’s also apparent that they are being subjected to concerted pressures to compromise their beliefs.
Life is much more challenging for teenagers than in the relatively-good old days. Primary challenges are resisting peer pressures, the importunings of their throbbing hormones, and the untold numbers of pedophiles eager to take advantage of them. . .

Very little shocks me in our increasingly-bizarre, free-wheeling culture anymore.
Claims that the androgenous pop star Justin Bieber was statutorially raped and is suddenly a daddy at 18 don’t faze me since Justin probably lost his virginity years ago. Naked people publicly cavorting in New York City’s New Museum’s gigantic bathtub “art exhibit” don’t surprise me since, hey, it’s the Big Apple. San Francisco banning naked diners in restaurants since even liberals have a modicum of propriety and sense of revulsion at unsanitary conditions and obese exhibitionists.
I’m not even bothered when nitwits say outrageous things.
When Nancy Pelosi denies she has had plastic surgery and alleges President Barack Hussein Obama’s 2009 “Stimulus” saved the nation from a 15% unemployment rate as opposed to our currently obscene 9%, I pass it off as Botox side effects.
When DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz criticizes a proposed human life amendment to our Constitution as “extreme and radical,” when the Obama administration opposes inscribing a prayer endorsed by Democrat icon FDR on Washington’s World War II Memorial, when the FLOTUS contends the POTUS’ successful nominations of two extremist women to SCOTUS enabled Americans to “love whomever we choose,” I may gag but I’m far from shocked because I’ve heard much worse from Democrats.

Bullying and Teasing, Kevin Jennings and Teen Suicide
I don’t remember being bullied in school and no one I know was ever “bullied” or was a “bullyer,” in the contemporary senses of those terms. Of course, in the interests of full disclosure, having attended parochial school, bullying wasn’t allowed since nuns generally attended to that duty.
I do recall, occasionally, teasing when I was the teaser without intending the teasing to in any way connote threats or intimidation and some dumb older kids sometimes asserting their age and size by being overbearing. At least one of those dumbasses ended up in prison, another became a teacher.
Our version of “bullying” typically involved vain pre- and post-adolescent efforts to gain attention from inattentive girls many of whom surreptitiously loved the attention but felt compelled to maintain the requisite façade of disinterest.
Both genders survived but times have changed.
Today, bullying is considered by the PC crowd as little short of character assassination or attempted murder–and young people are buying into that absurd hyperbole.
Okay, back in my day when we were circling the wagons and trying to survive Indian onslaughts, we had more things on our minds than Mary Jane and her persnickety uppitiness but, still, if Mary Jane had missed our subtle romantic overtures of hiding her hair ribbons, she wouldn’t have ended it all by leaping out of the stagecoach into some abyss.
As I said, times have changed.
Thanks to a super-charged media obsessed over bullying and its disturbed offshoot, cyber-bullying, the subject is front-page news. Compound that media-created awareness with the availability of Facebook and Twitter and emails, some nasty kids are now able to taunt, harass, and threaten vulnerable kids more or less anonymously and often with impunity.
Add to that supercharged hysteria and unsocial media school administrations that post strict anti-bullying guidelines which are largely unenforceable and, if enforced, are ridiculed, too many young people today now take seriously what was formerly ignored or dismissed as irrational, envious, and jealous ad hominem rants by miscreants.
Regrettably, a relatively minuscule number of teens and even pre-teens are unable to deal with the stress created by those miscreants and resort to the ultimate solution for what is invariably a passing problem.
In actuality, teen suicide rates, with one notable exception, haven’t increased appreciably over the last few decades and are in line with the overall numbers of people who opt for that final answer chosen by tens of thousands of Americans.
However, try to explain those stats to some fifteen year old girl who has been nominated for Slut of the Year by a Facebook adversary intent on snatching her boyfriend or to a fourteen year old boy called a pimply queer for all the world to see on Twitter and it’s a lost cause.
For a certain segment of young people, bullying has been catastrophic.
What is rarely noted concerning teen bullying is the above-referenced exception and that the chief impetus of the phenomenon derives not from any grassroots demand for a remedy but from the government of President Barack Obama.
More specifically but not exclusively, the man responsible for exaggerating the problem is the former Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools at the U.S. Department of Education, Kevin Jennings. . .

When Is a Violent, Sexual Assault not a Violent, Sexual Assault?
When is a violent, sexual assault not a violent, sexual assault? Why, when the assault is committed by a protected species, of course!
The powerful LGBT Lobby, which stands for the lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders and which sometimes throws in a “Q” in its designated acronym for “Queer” and “Questioning” to encompass as many people, especially sexually confused young people as possible, agitated for and received legally protected status.
That protection is afforded the LGBT(Q)’s in the nation according to federal law which also incorporates blacks, hermaphrodites, Mormons, Ugandans, anyone over 40, cross dressers, and veterans, a goodly chunk of Americans.
Related but different legislation in covered many, not all, of those groups under “hate crimes” which are defined ”as a violent act causing death or bodily injury because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability of the victim.”
Little agitation for the law, seconded by the United Nations, came from religious or nationality groups or the disabled who were thrown into that thought crime mix to make the legislation more palatable and seem as if it weren’t catering to the LGBT(Q) set, which it was.
Noteworthy in what is called the Matthew Shepard Act is the provision that enables federal authorities to intervene in alleged hate crimes that local enforcement authorities choose not to pursue and mandates FBI involvement in statistically tracking alleged gender and gender identity (B and T) crimes.
All of that brings us to a school bus in Kellogg, Idaho, a 17 year old high school softball player, and three teammates who may or may not have had gender identity issues but who clearly engaged in, if not a hate crime under current definitions, a sex crime and possibly a reverse lesbian sex crime committed out of anything but love . . .

The state of Massachusetts, always on the cusp of societal change for the worst, is now in the teenage sex and abortion advice business and shilling for Planned Parenthood. Some of the advice offered by the state-sponsored website, MariaTalks.com, includes presenting abortion as a piece of cake and advising teens on how to get one on the sneak.
A teens “sex hotline” is also available.
The Bay State’s Department of Public Health has been funding MariaTalks.com to the tune of $100,000 a year since 2008 and has finally been called on it by an anti-abortion group, the Massachusetts Citizens for Life. That organization’s VP for educational affairs, Linda Thayer, says, “The commonwealth is using taxpayer money to tell kids how to get a secret abortion, and that’s wrong.”
No kidding.
The site, produced by the AIDS Action Committee. contends abortion is “more common than you might think” as well as “safe and effective, though some people may experience temporary discomfort.” It minimizes the risks while adding, “The reality of getting an abortion is much easier than it seems here” and oversimplifies the procedure as, “when the contents of the womb (uterus) are removed,” sort of like an abscessed tooth.
“Maria’s” most insidious advice to teens goes beyond what even Planned Parenthood, publicly, advises. Maria counsels kids, “It may be really hard for you to imagine talking to either your parents or a judge about getting an abortion, but there are people who can help you through it.” Then “Maria,” who doesn’t really exist, advises there are ways to get around state law and shuffles them off to PP.
Lest anyone thinks this is a pro-abortion scam, Maria also gives her advice in Massachusetts high schools. As Charles Skidmore, principal of Arlington High School, says, “I’m assuming because it’s from the Department of Public Health, it’s balanced information. . .

Sexting Is Just the Beginning
The teen fad of texting–if it is just a fad–has been proven to be deadly.
As I’ve written before, “Let’s face it, as any parent or teacher knows, teenagers can be a delight, and they can be horror. It all comes with the territory, the maturation process, as teens test the limits, push the envelopes, and drive parents to drink and distraction.” In their natural lack of discretion, young people have all too often exceeded those limits and brought embarrassing and sometimes much worse unintended consequences on themselves.
One of the earliest testimonials to the deadliness of teenagers posting nude or partially nude photos of themselves on the internet was the 2008 case of pretty, vivacious Jessica Logan of Cincinnati, Ohio. At the tender age of 18, Jessica hanged herself in her bedroom after a boyfriend circulated a single compromising and revealing picture she had sent for his eyes only. She was branded “a slut, porn queen, whore” by other girls and humiliated to her death.
Regardless of the blatant hypocrisy of Jessica’s former friends who may very well also have sexted and of her ethically-challenged former beau, estimates of a few years ago were that anywhere from 22% to 50% of teens have inappropriate pictures on their cell phones, that 39% of teens have sexted, and that 48% admit to receiving sexts.
“Inappropriate,” of course, is in the eyes of the beholder and many teen beholders are unable to distinguish the difference between what is licentious and what’s appropriate often to their dismay, and instances of prosecution as puveyors of child porn.

The Skinny on "Skins"
I recall visiting England in 1978. Even then, although located only about 3,500 miles to our east, England was light years ahead of the United States in terms of its oh-so- advanced, progressive culture.
As “All in the Family,” based on a Brit sitcom, was nearing the end of its run here after years of controversy over the show’s then-shocking sex references and such never-before-heard sounds on television as Archie flushing an upstairs toilet, Britain’s BBC featured what would have shocked the socks off American TV censors, full-frontal nudity.
Today we have another export from across the Pond which is anything but a sitcom, the award-winning–in Britain which loves conferring awards–teen drama, ”Skins.” That telly gem gave birth this month to the Viacom-MTV series of the same name which deals with similar themes of teenage angst in the twenty-first century.
Both the Brit and American “Skins” are a far cry from “Ozzie and Harriet” or even “Friends.” The website for the U.S. version, http://www.skins.tv/, gives a bare inkling as to the essence of the show although it does clearly demonstrate the meaning of the title. “Skins” features lots of skin, teenage skin.
The 5 episodes of Series One include dysfunctional characters aged 15-19 involved with and engaged in everything from a few common and normal situations to significantly dysfunctional interests and activities.
Eating disorders, violence, illicit drugs, alcohol, hallucinations, abandonment, divorce, suicide, over-dosing, masturbation, sexual assault and seduction earned “Skins” an TV-MA rating. Dollops of underage nudity were added to insure that enough young people would ignore that restriction and tune in to make “Skins” a hit.
It’s that nudity, child pornography, set to air January 31st in the third episode, which will insure the show will bomb in its American venue. . .

Dollops of underage nudity were added to insure that enough young people would ignore that restriction and tune in to make “Skins” a hit.
It’s that nudity, child pornography, set to air January 31st in the third episode, which will insure the show will bomb in its American venue. . .

For the record, I believe I’m just being more honest than most elders when I concede an appreciation of youthful beauty. An elderly uncle once admitted to the truism that when we stop looking, we’re dead. I also confess to appreciating and treasuring family, country, New York Yankee baseball, and pistachios.
That said, I still don’t know if Amanda Knox, the self-described “Foxy Knoxy” and reputed American “she-devil” who was convicted in Italy of murdering her roomie, British student Meredith Karcher, got a fair shake in her trial and if she merited her sentence of 26 years.
Far from looking like the sweet young thang of three years ago, Amanda is now a tad dazed and haggard and anything but serene but she still proclaims her innocence in that horrendous crime and contends, ”This is all an enormous mistake.”

Of course, except for terrorists, most criminals say their convictions were all mistakes, or they were framed, or that the devil made them do it but, nevertheless, as in the case of pedophile teacher Debra Lafave who was sentenced to probation rather than to 30 years, also in 2007, when her American judge judged she was far too pretty to be confined to jail, it seems natural for people, especially males, to cut some slack for pretty females.
Even allowing that Lafave was spared prison for a crime of the flesh and Knox was convicted of murder, sexual assault, and obstruction of justice, there are certain similarities in the 2 cases, similarities predicated on young, female attractiveness, which in Debra’s instance bought her a free ride on probation, in Amanda’s instance resulted in a refusal by many to believe her guilt.
In her last court appearance, “Knox, 23, broke down several times as she addressed the court for almost twenty minutes in an emotional and quivering voice, as she stressed she had nothing to do with Meredith’s brutal murder. The American [note that British newspaper emphasis] also dismissed the prosecution’s view of her saying she was not the ‘dangerous, diabolical, jealous and uncaring’ person she had been described as at her original trial, telling the court: ‘That girl is not me.’ “

Whatever that girl was she and regardless of the final disposition in the matter of Foxy Knoxy, who was a wild 20 year old at the time of Karcher’s murder, her proven life of abandon and sexual promiscuity may have been contributing factors. PoliticsDaily.com featured an unusual item for PoliticsDaily.com. Instead of its usual political news and analysis, the story had to do with hickeys, young passion, and bruised lips.
Well, yes and no.
The introductory paragraph dealt with those mostly-teen activities as a lead-in to an article by Suzy Parker, “Vampire Love Bites and Lady Gaga Eyes: Teen Trends Terrify Parents,” which was somewhat more serious.
It seems the current craze of vampirism ignited by the Twilight movies rage has inspired a new passtime for the teeny set. They’ve taken the simple hickey to a whole new dimension, actually biting and drawing blood from their love-of-the-month.
As if that were not bad enough, another phenomenon named Lady Gaga has rendered many young girls so gaga over Gaga that they are buying and wearing supersized contact lenses called “circle lenses” in order to replicate their heroine’s eyes at a risk to their own.
I don’t know which is worse, deep, bloody love bites which could result in transmission of diseases, including HIV and AIDS, or circle lenses which are illegal in the United States but obtainable over the internet and which can cause serious eye infections. . .

Part One addressed the educational innovation in Provincetown, Massachusetts of providing condoms to students–to elementary school students.
A variation on P Town’s idea comes from, of all places, America’s Heartland, the Hawkeye State, in the little town of Shenandoah where Planned Parenthood went a few steps better by converting a sex education class into a virtual porn site for teenagers.
Iowa had long been a rock-ribbed conservative state, despite Senator Tom Harkin, but I guess things have changed as evidenced by Obama adding Iowa to his win column in 2008.
It seems the people from Planned Parenthood were invited to the local high school to conduct a sex education class. The class, which included 14 year old eighth graders and both boys and girls, turned into a lesson in pornography.
The school may or may not have known that Planned Parenthood is far more interested in promoting teen sexual activity than in discouraging it. The more teenagers, and others, engage in sex, the more PP’s primary business, providing abortions, thrives.

Most people have heard of the New Sexual Revolution, the nationwide explosion in the numbers of teens engaging in various forms of sex.
First, the (relatively) good news: Over half of teenagers remain virgins until at least 17. The bad news: 46% of teens 15-19 have had sex, 13% before age 15, 7% at age 13 or younger. Those numbers from the Guttmacher Institute refer only to vaginal intercourse. Factoring in other forms of sex would make the bad news numbers skyrocket.
Obviously, premature and pre-marital sexual relations are a serious social, not to mention moral, problem in the United States in the twenty first century. How we deal with the problem is critical to altering such behaviors and since parents are usually in denial and the last to know about their kids’ sex lives, the responsibility in dealing with the issue often falls to schools.
Many schools are failing that responsibility.
Whether instructional sex education programs serve more to arouse curiosity and whet carnal appetites than they serve any other purpose is debatable and some schools have taken sex ed to a whole new level, downward. . .

It’s common knowledge among adults that the sexting craze among teenagers has to be the nuttiest departure from normal behavior since the goldfish-swallowing fad began in the 1930’s. Back then, the only harm came to the goldfish. Sexting can lead to irreparable, lifelong harm, even suicide, for teens.
For those still unaware, sexting is an outgrowth of the ubiquitous cell phone and has encouraged teenagers, particularly but not exclusively young girls, to push and exceed the limits of discretion by transmitting revealing pictures of themselves and/or “talk dirty” on their cells, which pictures and talk can then become property of the internet when the recipients post them on websites.
Sexting is undoubtedly a serious social problem that can develop into other problems as critical as texting while driving. Both can result in severe injuries and sexting has already resulted in teen suicides when their nude and semi-nude photos become public.
All that said, the new New York City Department of Education proposed policy on sexting is an absurd exercise in an unenforceable and excessive abuse of power. . .

SURPRISING WORDS: On Election Day 2008, the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense deployed its uniformed troops outside Philadelphia polling centers wielding billy clubs in a blatant show of voter intimidation. Anti-white racial insults were hurled at potential voters and one witness claimed one Black Panther said they were “tired of white supremacy.”
One of the last acts of the outgoing Bush administration was to file suit against the group and one of new Attorney General Eric Holder’s first acts was to dismiss that suit.
Nevertheless, Holder claimed last Friday that the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is the “conscience of our nation.” That division deals with hate crimes and voting irregularities: http://tiny.cc/cr4c2

Raquel Welch, National Prude?
Raquel Welch, National Prude?
To those under 40, the name Raquel Welch must conjure up visions of ancient sexpots like Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe just as in my time we thought of Greta Garbo and Jean Harlow as temptresses of another age.
Raquel, though, is very much alive and kicking as she approaches 70 and though she’s long past her prime as a sex goddess, she has words of wisdom for America’s youth in A.D. 2010.
People, even sex symbols, tend to grow more conservative and even prudish as they age. For us commoners the tried and true adage that a liberal is a conservative who hasn’t been mugged yet is usually applicable. As for the prudish label, that varies.
Raquel would never have been termed a prude during her performing career but despite four husbands–typical in Hollywood but a fact which now shames her–and despite her buxomy acting roles and Playboy centerfold–she also has never had equally typical Hollywood scandals associated with her name. . .

Hooking Up Part One
. . . One notable hazard on that road today is the practice of hookups, a contemporary alternative to dating which itself was fraught with dangers although hookups make those threats to physical safety seem miniscule.
And, despite decades of women’s lib propaganda and graphic sex classes on contracting what used to be called a “social disease”–a misnomer if there ever was one–members of the female gender tend to bear the emotional and physical brunt, no pun intended, of today’s sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).
Hooking up, simplified, is the modern practice of avoiding relationships and emotional entanglements by having “recreational,” casual sex. It also serves to relieve the stress of all those books to read and papers to write, and parties to attend, by coupling with someone. In some cases, it simply serves to pass the time and stave off boredom.
That someone could be a “friend with benefits,” a euphemism for a good buddy with whom you copulate as a favor, as a reward, or simply as a way of extending friendship to an ultimate extreme.
Or, it could be someone you just met at a keg party who becomes irresistible as a consequence of a high blood alcohol level and a reduced sense of virtuosity.
Or, it could be an absolute stranger . . .

Cougars and Lechers and Pervs, Oh, My!
We hear a lot nowadays about cougars, not the sleek beasts in the zoo or in the wild who occasionally eat intrepid hikers who get too intrepid but the often less than sleek desperate housewives and horny divorcee’s who lurk in dark bars ready to devour some unsuspecting or suspecting young stud.
The Urban Dictionary somewhat cruelly defines the cougar type as “An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man. The cougar can be anyone from an overly surgically altered wind tunnel victim, to an absolute sad and bloated old horn-meister, to a real hottie or milf.”
(The acronym milf was popularized in American Pie but milfs have been around since long before Anne Bancroft in The Graduate. They just get out more today, and at night.)
Often these nouveau ladies of the evening are reliving misspent or well-spent youth, trying to reassert their feminity, to validate their lives, to sate their declining libidos.
Time was, before the sexual revolution, before the astronomical divorce rate, before The Pill, before the internet, and before Viagra was discovered to have certain beneficial effects for women, catting around was the exclusive province of the male of the species who often removed his wedding ring when he hit the bar circuit for one night stands.
No more. The males now have competition from lusty cougars who aren’t looking for sweet, young female thangs but for buff, young male thangs and have little if any interest in guys who hide rings or paunches.
In one more sociological area, for better or worse, women have broken through a glass ceiling.
Today, cougars may be more ubiquitous than their male counterparts in some stalking venues, though males still seem to prefer younger prey.
One Toronto, Canada restaurant which apparently caters to both the roués and the rouées among us is featuring a . . .

Another Sexting Suicide
Nothing can compare with the excruciating physical pain and crushing emotional trauma of a parent losing a child. Worse is the needless and senseless loss of a young child to suicide.
Thirteen year old Hope Witsell of Sundance, Florida was just a normal kid at Beth Shields Middle School, normal by today’s standards for a girl just emerging from tweenie status into the burgeoning maturity of full-fledged teenage life.
Hope almost literally had her entire life ahead of her until she made a grave mistake not atypical in twentyfirst century American culture. She paid dearly for that error in judgement by hanging herself in her bedroom with one end of a pink scarf tied to her bed and the other to her neck.
It’s nearly impossible for any male, and moreso for an elder male, to understand the processes that take place in the female mind, and moreso in the inner workings of a young, female teenager.
I’ve dealt with two of those minds but that was in a previous generation when, as bad as it was in the sense of child raising and venomous threats and influences, in retrospect they now seem like halcyon days filled with all sweetness and light as contrasted with the dark temptations and influences of today.
Young girls have always been noted for their silly crushes, their wild indiscretions, their squeals of delight at the appearance of a Sinatra, the Beatles, or a Justin Bieber.
Before I’m accused of sexism I will say that so too did normal boys’ hearts pump faster at a vision of Marilyn Monroe, Brigette Bardot, and today of Beyonce, Taylor Swift, or Miley Cyrus.
However, from the perspective of an admitted amateur shrink, I think it’s fairly obvious that most teenie girls are far more emotional and much more sensitive than boys in that age category.
Some are even irrationally “boy crazy.”
Such may have been the case with pretty, little Hope Witsell . . .

Nothing can compare with the excruciating physical pain and crushing emotional trauma of a parent losing a child. Worse is the needless and senseless loss of a young child to suicide.
Thirteen year old Hope Witsell of Sundance, Florida was just a normal kid at Beth Shields Middle School, normal by today’s standards for a girl just emerging from tweenie status into the burgeoning maturity of full-fledged teenage life.
Hope almost literally had her entire life ahead of her until she made a grave mistake not atypical in twentyfirst century American culture. She paid dearly for that error in judgement by hanging herself in her bedroom with one end of a pink scarf tied to her bed and the other to her neck.
It’s nearly impossible for any male, and moreso for an elder male, to understand the processes that take place in the female mind, and moreso in the inner workings of a young, female teenager.
I’ve dealt with two of those minds but that was in a previous generation when, as bad as it was in the sense of child raising and venomous threats and influences, in retrospect they now seem like halcyon days filled with all sweetness and light as contrasted with the dark temptations and influences of today.
Young girls have always been noted for their silly crushes, their wild indiscretions, their squeals of delight at the appearance of a Sinatra, the Beatles, or a Justin Bieber.
Before I’m accused of sexism I will say that so too did normal boys’ hearts pump faster at a vision of Marilyn Monroe, Brigette Bardot, and today of Beyonce, Taylor Swift, or Miley Cyrus.
However, from the perspective of an admitted amateur shrink, I think it’s fairly obvious that most teenie girls are far more emotional and much more sensitive than boys in that age category.
Some are even irrationally “boy crazy.”
Such may have been the case with pretty, little Hope Witsell . . .

The Sexual Evolution of Tweens to Teens
Ever wonder what effect the disintegration of society’s moral fiber is having on kids?
I mean, how does the unremitting barrage of gay-themed tv shows, bed-hopping celebs trading partners and flaunting their baby bumps sans wedding rings, and movies, MTV videos, rap music verily bubbling with sex episodes influence young children?
This is hardly a revelation but that influence isn’t a good one and bodes ill for the physical, emotional, and psychological future of the next generation. Both teens and tweens are members of that generation.
For those who don’t keep up with such things, “tween” is a relatively new term in the sociological lexicon.
Generally, it designates kids aged 9-12 who haven’t quite made it to the mad, mad world of teenagery, yet, in their own minds, at least, are close enough and some are crazed enough to join in the antics of some of their older peers.
To date, no word has surfaced that tweens are into the dangerous worlds of sexting, although that too is possible for the more physically mature, less discreet types, as is the phenomenon of “rainbow parties.” For the terminally curious, that term is graphically defined by UrbanDictionary.com.
Michelle Malkin has described an “educational” book on the latter subject, giggled over by adults on Oprah, as just plain “smut:” http://bit.ly/upDGH
The trickle down effect of our super-infused sex culture has now reached kids as young as 11, as evidenced by the latest socially-rebellious tween fad.
Striving above all else to be cool, accepted, and “with it,” the in-crowd of tweenies is now sporting bling, multi-colored bracelets, to advertise their proclivities and what they agree to do sexually.
As one website, MomLogic.com, explains it, “For years, teens have been playing a game called Snap, in which boys try to break bracelets off girls. Different colored bracelets represent different sexual acts, which if broken, are supposed to be performed by the girls:” http://bit.ly/Bwl6L.
I’m guessing that playing the once daring game of Spin the Bottle is no longer a popular indoor sport among the tweenie set.
Over in England, where sex scandals are as common as tea and crumpets, it’s not too uncommon for 15 year olds to get pregnant and for 13 year olds to impregnate them, (remember Alfie?), the Brits are now permitting 12 year olds to choose their gender.
The presumptive heir to England’s throne, Bonnie Prince Charlie, set the standard for his future subjects when he professed an unquenchable desire some years back to be his paramour’s tampon.
They’re now allowing, if not encouraging, lads to become lassies and vice versa. . .

Teen Sexting Is Back in the News
The debate goes on: Do 20% of kids sext, or 25%? As if it matters whether one in five or one in four children engage in the activity which has become a buzzword in the teenage culture.
In fact, it may be one in three or an even greater phenomenon. Why adults would think teenagers would be upfront and totally honest about what they do with and on their cellphones is an even greater mystery.
Since my kids have long been out in the world as successful grown-ups, I can’t personally relate to the whole issue of adolescent sexting, which continues to be re-defined and refined by adults. Whether we elders even grasp the scope and import of this latest teen craze is questionable.
Back in the day, the worst my generation had to deal with were sex and drugs and rock and roll.
Sexting, however, has now become so ingrained in American life that one website, urbandictionary.com, has seen fit to officially lay out multiple definitions, as well as teen reactions to the adult world’s impertinence in seeking to define what is theirs, territory into which anyone over 20 or 25 should never venture nor critique.
That urban, and suburban and rural, dictionary posits this offering on sexting: “v: the act of text messaging someone in the hopes of having a sexual encounter with them later; initially casual, transitioning into highly suggestive and even sexually explicit.”
Congenitally defensive teens offered various rebuttals and clarifications. They included: ”The term [sexting] is used by adults who are out of the loop, and not by the individuals actually sending the messages.” And, “like phone sex except throught texting.” And, “When a guy and a girl send dirty text messages back and forth to each other. Pictures may also be included, but only if you’re lucky:” http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sexting.
That’s all very enlightening but it sheds little light on sexting.
Not so lucky but quite enlightened was assistant principal at Virginia’s South Riding High School, Ting-Yi Oei. He was delegated by the principal to investigate “rumors that some students at the school were exchanging sexually explicit [sexted] photos of a teenage girl.”
He duly investigated, identified the culprit, and as instructed, captured the picture on his cell phone and laptop as evidence.
He was subsequently charged “with felony possession of child porn as well as with two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for instructing the male student to send him the photo.”
Assistant Principal Oei beat that rap, and the county, eventually, reimbursed him for the $167,000 in legal fees he incurred for doing his job as per his directions: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/06/sexting/

Various Perversions
Various Perversions (PG Rated)
The poor will always be with us, spoke Jesus Christ. Literally, He said, “You always have the poor with you,” (Matthew 26:11), though the meaning is the same. If Christ lived in 2009 A.D., He might add, “And perverts will always be with you, too!” The meaning and truth of that pronouncement would be evident to anyone who reads newspapers.
Perversion is defined as any sexual act considered abnormal but nowadays precisely what constitutes “abnormal” is sometimes disputed. Likewise, that definition could be stretched to incorporate any forms of depravity. Four examples of perversions follow:
Procreative Perversion: A guy who perhaps does not technically-qualify for the appellation of pervert but who has to be damned close is Desmond Hatchett. Mr. Hatchett is not shy about admitting that he has fathered some 20 or 21 kids which in itself may not be that exceptional, even if he is a gross exemplar of population pollution and more representative of Arab sheiks than his fellow lotharios in Knoxville, TN.
What distinguishes him more is his relatively brief lifespan of 29 years and the fact he boasts of impregnating at least 11 different females and of begetting 4 kids within the same year–twice: http://www.volunteertv.com/home/headlines/45871127.html.
Hatchett brings to mind the admonition of either Groucho Marx or W.C. Fields, (the ascription is debated), that, “I love my cigar too but I take it out once in a while.” It also brings to mind the thought that since Mr. Hatchett works a minimum-wage job and currently resides in jail for failure to pay child support the state of Tennessee should consider a hatchet to deal with Hatchett’s insatiable proclivities. The Volunteer State will be paying to raise his brood.
It should also be noted that none of the mothers objected to his multiple feats of propagation but some did object that they will be receiving $1.98 a month from Mr. Hatchett’s largesse.
Parading Perversion: Less ambiguously perverted is state-sponsored corruption of children. Desmond Hatchett apparently indulged his appetites with willing accomplices. The State of Massachusetts was accomplice to the corruption of kids during its annual May “Youth Pride Parade,” a euphemism for “Encouraging Children to Become Queers Parade.”
Anyone who knows teenagers and, especially those who have reared them, knows that teens are by nature a confused group. Confusion and indecision come with the teen territory. So where else can homosexuals, the GLBT bunch, find greener pastures and green recruits than among . . .
