Two Perspectives on Riots, Jobs, and Poverty
In case no one has noticed, there has been an increasing number of violent outbursts and riots in the streets. New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg and America’s President Barack Hussein Obama have, respectively, keen insights and perspicacious cures for all that civil disruption.
The upheavals in the Mideast are somewhat explicable given the so-called Arab Spring although the violence in the United States and Great Britain can’t be explained away as easily. Fortunately, New York’s Mayor for Life Michael Bloomberg has his finger on the pulse of humanity and is fully capable of pinpointing the cause: poverty and a dearth of jobs.
Hizzonor contended on his Friday radio show, (which he skipped last week due to a scandal in his administration), ”You have a lot of kids graduating college, [who] can’t find jobs. That’s what happened in Cairo. That’s what happened in Madrid. You don’t want those kinds of riots here.”
So, if I understand the mayor correctly, Egyptians weren’t protesting against former despot Hosni Mubarak and the mobs in Spain–and London–were just staging boisterous campaigns for employment and not anarchically revolting?
I’m sorry to advise Mr. Bloomberg that he is wrong as proven by facts and slews of videotapes.
Egyptians wanted to depose Mubarak, and succeeded. The mostly Muslim English rioters would love to have toppled the regimes in that country, but their destructive efforts failed. The Spanish–and the Greeks? Who knows? They always seem annoyed at something or other.
None of this means to suggest poverty and unemployment aren’t serious issues everywhere. As of 2010, America’s national poverty rate stood at 15.1% or 46.2 million people and jobless Americans still number 9.1% of the working population, all of which are horrific figures.
Bloomberg may have analyzed the world situation with his pulsating finger but we have a man in charge of the U.S. economy who has been fingering America’s fiscal health as effectively as Mayor Bloomberg gauged world events.
Some cynics would say President Obama been flipping his finger at the nation since he hasn’t done a damned thing about poverty or unemployment over the course of his 32 months in office.
Correction: He has done a damned thing, he’s made both worse. . .

Riotous Times in America
Riotous Times in America
When is a riot not a riot? When it’s “borderline,” of course. When does civil unrest have a racial component? Hardly ever since that component is rarely reported, of course.
It’s not even summer but things are rapidly heating up in more ways than one, a year before former Clinton adviser, James “The Snake” Carville, has predicted “imminently possible” civil unrest. Feel free to translate that dire prediction as riots in the streets.
Appearing on ”Imus in the Morning,” Carville predicated his remarks on the continuing high unemployment rate and the piddling job growth and despite President Barack Hussein Obama’s efforts to paint the dismal job figures as little more than a bump on the road to recovery. The president didn’t mention VP Joe Biden’s astute description last spring–that would be 2010–that America was set to experience “Recovery Summer.” So much for Biden and recovery.
Certain segments of society are way ahead of Carville insofar as “civil unrest” is concerned but don’t dare call them rioters.
In Bessemer, Alabama, police were forced to temporarily shutter the Alabama Adventure theme park after chaos broke out with numerous fights throughout the park.
One park patron ”described it as a ‘borderline riot.’ He witnessed at least eight different fights, including chair throwing in the water park, and at least three people taken out of the park on gurneys, . . . ’Every time we turned around, there was a fight.’ “
Craig Randolph, vice president and general manager for Alabama Adventure, saw it all differently saying, “We did have a few kids get out hand. We had some scuffles here and there,” and couldn’t speculate on whether anyone was injured or arrested. (http://bit.ly/jivjIu)
Presumably, the ambulances and gurneys were purely precautionary and certainly not indications of injuries sustained during a “borderline riot.”
Were Bessemer the only riot locale, James Carville could be correct, that civil unrest, a euphemism for widespread, uncontrolled violence, isn’t due until next year.
In fact, though not nearly on the scale of the 6-day Watts upheaval in 1965 or the deadly mayhem that followed the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Rodney King chaos or the numerous other incidents of unrest in America’s history, smaller scale riots have been occurring with disturbing frequency of late.
They’re all the more disturbing in view of official malfeasance by indifference and distortion and because most of the current violence is being committed by black teens two plus years into President Obama’s proclaimed “post-racial America.”
(Obama also said in Dreams from My Father, pp. 99-100, that he disapproved of what he called, “half-breeds” who gravitated toward whites but that may be a whole other story.)
For example, what are being termed “random attacks” by black Chicago street gangs are becoming less and less random. . . .

For some while now–about two years or so–I’ve been thinking that things can’t really be as bad as my perceptions tell me, that the United States isn’t respected internationally, that the economy and unemployment rate aren’t improving, that our commander in chief was so far in under his head that he can’t tell which side is up, that he is a committed ideologue whose commitments supersede by far the interests of America, that he is a loser par excellence.
My suspicions are rapidly being confirmed and Rasmussen.com confirms the American people are on to Barack Hussein Obama, the pseudo-American apotheosis, as well.
If they still hold firm to the belief that he is deserving of even minimal respect, witness the disrepectful reflections of an unacknowledged buddy and intimate of his former pastor, Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright and Moammar “Daffy” Gadhafy, Rev. Louis “Calypso Louis” Farrakhan: http://bit.ly/hKWHwt.
For those not curious enough to click on that story and video, Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan addresses his brother Obama and says, among other things, ”I warn my brother do you [sic] let these wicked demons move you in a direction that will absolutely ruin your future with your people in Africa and throughout the world. . . Why don’t you organize a group of respected Americans and ask for a meeting with Qaddafi, you can’t order him to step down and get out.”
Calypso Louie then totally disses his bro, the President of the United States, with the rhetorical question, “Who the hell do you think you are?”
Disapprobation by one’s bros may be acceptable to fellow bros. Statistics may not be.
The highly-respected pollster Rasmussen.com has tracked Obama’s approval ratings literally from Day One, January 21, 2009 when his approval index was 28 with a whopping 44% of Americans strongly approving the president and 65% in the total approving column and a mere 16% strongly disapproving, 30% total disapproval.
Contrast those numbers with March 19, 2011 . . .

Visual Perceptions and Racial Realities
Okay, I admit that I don’t see nearly as well as I’d like to, especially at night in the car when those damned approaching headlights look more like halos than halogens.
Still, visual perceptions aside, my declining vision tells me that either youngun reporters and reporterettes out there are either more blind than I or they refuse to report on what they see, or that they censor or are forced by politically correct editors to censor what they witness.
That PC myopia also extends to police departments, some of which seem to suffer from an inability to stick with just the facts, ma’am and trust the perceptions of their own officers.
A case in point involved a racial explosion last August in and around the Iowa State Fair grounds in Des Moines where chants of “Beat whitey night!” filled the air and bands of marauding teens and young adults of both sexes wreaked havoc, were involved in stabbings, injured two cops, and three were arrested.
Initial DMPD reports referred to “racial overtones.” The Des Moines Register headlined its 8-26-2010 story, “Police Say It’s ‘Very Possible’ Attacks Near Fairgrounds Had Racial Overtones.” That description soon became “unconfirmed” and it was subsequently reported by another source that, “Des Moines police said Wednesday that they do not believe fights near the state fairgrounds were racially motivated or connected,” http://tiny.cc/4vnkf
Stabbings + marauding teens and young adults + on-duty officers + “Beat whitey night.” It seems pretty cut and dried, no? Blacks would seem to have engaged in violent hate crime attacks against whites, no?
