Of Sluts and Racists

Sluts and racism would seem to be an odd mishmash of topics except that recent news items link them as elements of what’s seriously wrong in America.

SLUT is an ugly word designating a slovenly woman in Britain and a cheap, sexually promiscuous girl or woman in America, what UrbanDictionary.com defines as a skank, whore, and, in the hood, a “hoe” who is “too loose in the booty.” The word is made all the more ugly when we consider President Obama’s call for greater civility in public discourse and is uttered by one of his own, a committed leftist.

A little context: Laura Ingraham is a 47 year old, conservative radio talk show host and conservative political commentator and author of four best-selling books. Did I mention that she’s a conservative?

On the other side of the aisle–at the bottom of a squalid, slimy pit might be a better analogy–lurks MSNBC’s 57 year old, rabid, liberal attack dog and liberal commentator, Ed Schultz, who consistently plumbs the depths of humanity with his observations.

Did I mention Schultz is a liberal?

Anyway, he was talking about the weather the other day on MSNBC’s “The Ed Schultz Show” when he couldn’t resist a total non-sequitur and launched into a Republican-conservative assault accusing his nemeses of insensitivity toward victims of the recent, horrendous floods and tornadoes.

Where or how he came up with that I have no clue anymore than I have a clue as to why he viciously attacked Ms. Ingraham as a “right wing slut . . . yeah, she’s a talk slut.” I guess he didn’t get the Obama civility memo. The MSNBC resident lunatic Schultz is no stranger to controversy. He is also no stranger to incivility. He previously ranted that, “The Republicans lie! They want to see you dead! They’d rather make money off your dead corpse!” and labeled former Vice President Cheney a “dirtbag” who should die and voiced his wish that Glenn Beck would commit suicide and called New Jersey Governor Chris Christie “a fat slob. . .

Whose country is this, anyway?

The passage of the Arizona illegal immigration bill may have been the greatest thing to happen in this country in years. It ignited firestorms on both sides of the issue, firestorms that have been burning more brightly on the anti-American, pro-illegal aliens side but that same light just may be awakening the sleeping giant that is the pro-America side.

In apparent reaction to the liberal fury over the Arizona law, students in the West and Southwest have been causing a nationwide commotion by daring to wear tee shirts emblazoned with the American flag and have been disciplined for doing so.

One California school district realized the error of its ways in suspending students for wearing “incendiary” emblems on their tees, namely representations of American flags, but didn’t see that error until parents protested: http://tiny.cc/p285d

How the American flag could ever be incendiary is beyond me, except when it is burned by America-haters, but District Superintendent Wesley Smith covered for the administrators of Live Oak High School by issuing a statement. It wasn’t an apology for administrative wrongdoing or ignorance but rather a policy clarification. . .
