Obamacare Rationing Has Arrived: Live, or Die, with It
It isn’t being called rationing since the president repeatedly pledged that would never happen under Obamacare but, pledge as they might, the Obamians are already busily engaged in restricting Americans’ access to medical testing and treatment, aka rationing.
And, don’t dare even whisper the term “death panels.” Sarah Palin and others were widely ridiculed by the administration for suggesting their existence since, we were promised, Obamacare would never incorporate such a ghastly feature. Instead, they’re called ”ethics panels.”
Years before the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is fully implemented in 2014, measures are being taken nationwide to cut costs and limit access to medical procedures which for decades were considered prudent and necessary for diagnosis and treatment of potentially life-threatening illnesses and diseases.
It’s the old trick of boiling a frog adapted to medicine.
Those interested in boiling frogs know you should never throw the little amphibians into pots of boiling water since they tend to jump out and spoil the fun. Likewise, politicians know they can’t literally throw grannie under a bus, pull the plug on gramp’s respirator, or assign a cancer patient to a death panel since grannie, gramps, and the cancer patient are liable to kick them where it hurts.
You have to boil them gradually and use euphemisms as you do it.
Rationing began in earnest earlier this year when the FDA withdrew approval of Genentech’s highly-effective but expensive breast cancer drug Avastin on the basis that it had ”a marginal effect on tumor growth in breast cancer and in light of Avastin’s severe side effects, the risks outweigh the limited benefit.”
The FDA didn’t directly address that opinion to the thousands of women whose lives have been extended by that “limited benefit” and who scoff at the alleged side effects and risks.
Life, for frogs and human beings, supersedes both the pleasures of boiling water and side effects despite cost savings.
As for mammograms, women only think they should get them annually but that’s another misconception according to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, USPTF, which seems to have been assembled by the Department of Health and Human Services less for the purpose of preventing than for rationing.
The task force of 16 “independent experts” concluded in November, 2009 that it makes no sense for women to either perform breast self-exams or get routine mammograms before reaching the age of 50. Possibly saving your life is purposeless, and it costs money.
After the flak hit the fan and women adopted the frog approach to boiling water, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebellius backtracked and insisted the “experts” were merely recommending, not establishing policy or determining coverage–and Republicans were absolute cads for suggesting otherwise.
Chalk one up for the women-folk.
Again only recommending, in October, 2011, the same task force reported that “Prostate-specific antigen–based screening results in small or no reduction in prostate cancer–specific mortality” despite findings by true independent studies showing such screenings reduce death rates by up to 90%.
Following that money-saving recommendation, the nation’s largest urology group jumped all over the USPTF . . .

Adoption's Moral Implications
I’m no preacherman and less than qualified to be an arbiter of what’s moral in American society. I’m even less qualified to pass judgment and condemn immorality since that would be God’s prerogative. Is Anthony Weiner’s public display of his private parts immoral? He evidently doesn’t think so. Are gays adopting children acting morally? They seem to believe they are.
Who’s to say?
When our government takes active positions endorsing issues on which millions of Americans hold strong moral convictions, it would seem that people have both the right and responsibility to say something, to speak out. Such an issue is the question of whether children should be offered in adoption to avowed homosexuals, bi-sexuals, and transsexuals.
It’s incontestable that there are millions of American kids in desparate need of being welcomed into loving homes where they can be nurtured into adulthood as upstanding citizens who will lead happy, contented lives and contribute to society. What’s very disputable is whether those homes can be found with people whose private lives give rise to doubts as to their suitability for parenting.
Yes, we’re told that love makes a family and we’re told there are instances of gay parents who furnish stellar upbringing of adopted children but we’re told a lot of things. There is minimal information on how those kids fare later in life after growing up with two mommies or two daddies and a wealth of data that show one of each is most beneficial.
Current estimates indicate that 270,000 kids are living with same-sex couples; 65,000 are legally adopted. Would they be better off in foster care? That would depend on the gay care.
Celebrity homosexuals Neil Patrick Harris, Rosie O’Donnell, and Sir Elton John are among that latter group and they and their families get a great deal of press, and publicity, but what the future holds for those families is very much a mystery.
Less mysterious is what happens when the federal government intrudes itself into strictly local, social issues like adoption. Especially when that government is headed by the most “gay-friendly” president in American history, adoption devils are rooted in the details. . .

Obamacare Outed
If a tree falls in the forest with no one around, does it make a sound? Of course it does! However, if a news event breaks and no one reports it, is it still news? If it happens and the MSM doesn’t report it but radical news organizations such as Fox News do, does the event constitute news? Of course not!
That’s a thought to remember as Obamacare rolls on to its inevitable full implementation in 2014, even though it has been declared unconstitutional by a federal judge. That was news-y enough to get cursory coverage by the MSM since it was beyond ignoring but then the powers that govern what the masses see, hear, and read shelved that factoid so it doesn’t count.
When it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck and acts like a duck, it’s pretty safe to say it isn’t a swan. Likewise, when a federal program looks like a lemon, smells like a lemon, and tastes like a lemon, it’s almost certain to be a lemon and nothing proposed in Washington since Prohibition is more lemony in every way than Obamacare.
One entertaining use of that lemon this week was President Obama’s affixing it to the neck of Mitt Romney as what Tony Soprano termed “an albacore” and most people would call an albatross, a smelly sea bird foreshadowing doom when it’s dead and draped around one’s neck. In this case, it spells doom for Romney’s yet-unannounced candidacy for the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2012.
Romney, relecting a clear disdain for both the intelligence and memory of the American electorate, last week guilefully proclaimed that the first thing he would do on assuming the office of the presidency–a heady assumption, indeed!–would be to dismantle Obamacare. The president promptly and deftly thanked the former Massachusetts’ governor for his able “assist” in passing Obamacare by virtue of his model, the equally-repugnant “Romneycare” in the Bay State.
You really have to watch out for those invited albatrosses, or albacores, Mitt! Maybe, like your dad, George, did in 1964 when he turned up his nose at conservative Barry Goldwater and said he would go fishing instead of voting for the Republican nominee you, too, might consider doing likewise on November 6, 2012. You could catch an albacore.
Were entertainment the chief attraction of Obamacare, Americans could almost enjoy it as farce but most of what the Patient Federal Care and Protection Act of 2010 (PPACA) entails is far from farcical. Skillfully timed to fully impact Americans only after they have already voted next year with an additional two years built in to capitalize on their short term memory deficiencies, the 2,309 page PPACA will revolutionize America’s health care system beyond imagining, and beyond reasoning.
What will most immediately surprise most Americans is not seeing their medical care go the way of another Obamacare model, Britain’s bankrupt National Health Service, though that is as certain as death and taxes. What will shock and dismay will be the costs imposed, another item ignored or minimized by the MSM which makes it non-news except to those who will pay through the nose.
A primary reason for those costs . . .

The Fine Art of Obamacare Obfuscation
Even though it’s the best on the planet, an excellent case can be made for the existence of weaknesses in America’s health care system. When everyone from potentates to average joes still travel to the U.S. for state of the art treatment, we must be doing something very right, which is not to say the system is flawless.
It’s expensive, overloaded with paperwork and fraught with serious issues but few sick people go out of their way to go to places such as Great Britain to seek treatment in that country’s bankrupt, socialistic National Health Service, the Obamacare model.
It was those issues, a cooperative press, and majorities in both houses of congress that enabled Democrats to ramrod a basically dishonest, 2309 page monstrosity which no legislators read and which the majority of Americans opposed through to law.
The fact that federal employees, including those same congresspersons who voted in favor of it, kept their existing and generous medical plan, their Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, and were exempted from Obamacare is perhaps the most telling factor indicative of how farcical the “Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act” truly is. The PPAHCA was deemed good enough for the rabble, the hoi polloi, but the very people who brought us Obamacare wanted no part of it.
Its most glaring omission, tort reform, is testimony both to the plethora of lawyers in congress and the act’s lack of serious interest in controlling costs.
One of the prime arguments used to foist Obamacare on the public was the sensitive issue of pre-existing medical conditions and how to cover, and pay, for them: Insurers don’t want to cover them and the public is not inclined to shoulder what could be the astronomical costs of paying for them.
After the House passed a bill to repeal Obamacare, as Republicans had promised, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed to block even a senate vote on the measure, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebellius jumped into the fray to pound home the administration line on the invaluability of the existing law and the perils associated with repealing or even altering it.
Sebellius’ press release is a perfect example of the administration’s ongoing duplicity . . .

. President Transparency Manipulates a Town Hall: Barack Obama is not one for public surprises. He was taken aback last week when a group of gay protestors repeatedly disrupted a speech with demands he push for repeal of the military’s DADT policy regarding gays. This week he reverted to form by stacking a town hall meeting with supporters in Iowa.

Sometimes it’s not worth the bother to open a newspaper or switch on the boob tube to catch the news. Much of it could have been written by the average freshman journalism major before it hit the wires.
For example, Chai Feldblum, recently nominated by the president to serve on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, (EEOC), last month published an article titled, “Moral Conflict and Liberty: Gay Rights and Religion” in which she made what would normally be an outlandish assertion.
However, considering the outrageous beliefs and statements of other Obama appointments, Ms. Feldblum’s views should have been anticipated.
“Just as we do not tolerate private racial beliefs that adversely affect African-Americans in the commercial arena, even if such beliefs are based on religious views,” she wrote, ”we should similarly not tolerate private beliefs about sexual orientation and gender identity that adversely affect LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] people:” http://bit.ly/4P5EIj
Translation: We don’t care if anyone has a moral problem say, with homosexuals trying to recruit high school and junior high school kids to their lifestyle–which they do. Just keep it to yourself if it in any way “adversely affects” LGBT-ers, including if your stated beliefs make them feel bad.
The Libertarian Lexington Institute has released a report showing that more Americans can identify the Gosselins of TV fame than can identify the founding father of the Constitution or who the first chief justice of the United States was.
Talk about a waste of paper and bandwidth! Most Americans can’t identify the current chief justice or George W. Bush’s father, even if they do know who won the Golden Globule Awards and the unwed fathers of the progeny of Hollywood starlets.
The cause of the massive ignorance? The failure of schools to teach. As the report goes on to say, “(S)chool reformers need to do much more to restore history as a vital subject in American education:” http://bit.ly/8mQ3eF

Clarifications
Clarifications: Obamacare, ACORN, Adam Lambert
When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. That’s why they put erasers at one end of pencils and why newspapers feature “corrections,” admissions that they screwed up somehow.
I’m man enough to fess up to having made a few errors in the thousand or so posts on this blog and I hereby seek to rectify them, cast myself on the mercy of the reader, and beg forgiveness.
Mea maxima culpa for these gross inaccuracies on Obamacare, ACORN, and Adam Lambert:
. Obamacare: I had more than intimated in any number of articles that Obamacare would lead to rationing of health care, abuses of power, and even something akin to what Sarah Palin dubbed “Death Panels.”
Well, I was wrong and I admit it.
Foolishly, I had assumed that when Obamacare was fully implemented, (which implementation wouldn’t happen until after the 2012 election), Americans would be denied health care if D.C. bureaucrats deemed their treatment unnecessary or if they were just too damned old or sick to waste precious resources on.
I was wrong.
I wasn’t wrong in that future Obamacare assessment since the future is yet to be. I was wrong in not anticipating that America’s medical Mengeles would jump the gun and begin health rationing, power abusing, and death panelling even before Obamacare was visited upon us like the Black Plague.
As Obamacare warm ups in the wings, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has re-evaluated the recommendations of the US Preventive Services Task Force on annual breast cancer screenings via mammograms and vaginal cancer detection via pap smears.
That task force is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, HHS.
The HHS guidelines said not to even bother with self-exams, that mammograms could wait until women are aged 50 and pap smears every two years instead of annually will be just fine and dandy. Women over 65 can skip the smears entirely in most cases: http://bit.ly/eM7qm
In the event women are already dead from breast or cervical cancer, those guidelines would be moot and our pre-Obamacare health system will have shown it’s very adept at rationing and saving tons of money.
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius pooh-poohed the new recommendations of her own agency after it looked as if concerned women nationwide would march on Washington and string her up.
Don’t you worry your pretty, little heads about any of the above, ladies, Sebelius said in effect, and just disregard anything you’ve heard. Disregard, that is, until Obamacare mandates all those guidelines.
Another brilliant medical grinch has decreed that 74 year old George Anter, Korean vet, heart-transplant recipient, victim and survivor of various cancer attacks, is just too old and sick to receive a scarce H1N1 vaccination: http://bit.ly/7vrhJf
Why waste the precious vaccine on a sick elder? Just let him kick the ol’ bucket and delete his useless carbon footprint on the planet. He won’t know the difference between being dead or alive anyway.
. ACORN: Another instance in which I was in grievous error was thinking that ACORN, our president’s virtual arm into the bowels of poor, mostly black, disenfranchised communities, would be cast out into the wilderness after revelations that it endorsed prostitution and was engaged in multiple criminal enterprises.

In the event women are already dead from breast or cervical cancer, those guidelines would be moot and our pre-Obamacare health system will have shown it’s very adept at rationing and saving tons of money.
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius pooh-poohed the new recommendations of her own agency after it looked as if concerned women nationwide would march on Washington and string her up.
Don’t you worry your pretty, little heads about any of the above, ladies, Sebelius said in effect, and just disregard anything you’ve heard. Disregard, that is, until Obamacare mandates all those guidelines.
