Liberal Predictability: Celebs, Blacks, Teachers
Some things are as predictable as showers in April, heat in August, and liberals any time of the year.
HEAD FOR THE HILLS, OF OHIO: For example, for whatever reason, it took almost ten years to enter the realm of public knowledge and even then it had to be revealed by the UK press that three noted libs embarked on a hastily-arranged 500 mile road trip in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Not that there was anything wrong with that; anyone living in the City of New York would have loved to flee the city although most were unable for various reasons to escape. The late Michael Jackson, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlon Brando were able to get out, and get out they did, via a rental car when Jackson was unable to secure a private jet since American air space was shut down because of the attacks.
Reports differ as to details of the trio’s flight to safety but Brando and Jackson seemed to have done all the driving, stopping only to gas up and to fuel up Brando’s insatiable hunger for fast food. They finally ended up in Ohio where, satisfied they were finally secure, they took refuge.
Taylor’s hangers-on deny it all of course, saying she instead went to church, tended to the displaced at some armory, and visited the still-smoldering Ground Zero. Oddly, there were no reports of Liz sightings at any of those locales and no reports of collapsing churches in the days after 9/11. Jackson’s retinue say he arranged safe havens for them in New Jersey. Brando had no apologists. (http://bit.ly/m0Ke4G)
RACE TRUMPS PARTY: In a totally unrelated but equally predictable liberal exhibition, black libs in Missouri have re-defined reapportionment as darkening the political landscape by dumping a white Democrat even though the result was a Republican gain.
It all happened because Republicans controlled both houses of the Missouri legislature, Democrats held the governorship, the Reps gerrymandered the state to strengthen black districts knowing they couldn’t win them, and tossed Dem congressman Russ Carnahan into a 49.5% black district.
The Democrat governor, Jay Nixon, loyal to his party, would have none of it and vetoed the scheme whereupon four black legislators joined the Republicans to override Nixon’s veto and screw the sole white Dem, Carnahan. . .

FDR and Union Tyranny
FDR and Union Tyranny
As a former, retired, teacher union member whose father was a member of a company union, I don’t in the least feel hypocritical in opposing the actions of Wisconsin teachers. Bottom line is, they’re wrong, in the extreme.
When I began as a public school English teacher in the early 70′s in suburban Long Island, I had no intention of joining either the local or state unions. Even then, the state union was decidedly liberal and, in fact, there was a movement afoot to expunge the word, “union,” in favor of “association” in order to preserve a sense of teacher professionalism.
“Union” won out in that debate, not that it mattered since the umbrella organization, the National Education Association, the NEA, which partners with the American Federation of Teachers, the AFT, is a de facto union, with 3.2 million members.
In any event, during my first year I refused on principle to join the local but succumbed in my second after repeated interruptions of my class by an importuning union rep. As it turned out, I subsequently learned that the district administration, in conjunction with the union, frowned on those who didn’t join and if I hadn’t signed on I may not have had a job my third year.
With that as preface and introduction to the current education crisis in Madison, Wisconsin and elsewhere, it’s been more than disquieting to discover that I was at least in partial agreement with the greatest liberal icon in the history of liberal icons, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Not that FDR was opposed to unions or collective bargaining–far from it–but he knew the inherent dangers of public employees negotiating with governments via union representatives.
As he said, ”All government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public-personnel management. The very nature and purposes of government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with government employee organizations:” http://tiny.cc/pnwwf
Apparently, today’s public employee unions never got that message as to the “insurmountable limitations” and the impossibility of such situations. Nor can they seem to grasp FDR’s reminder that, in collective bargaining with governments, “The employer is the whole people,” meaning that, seated on the other side of the negotiating table, are not representatives of some greedy corporation but the American public.
Extrapolating from Roosevelt’s words, when public employee unions demonstrate and agitate and demand, they are demonstrating and agitating against “the whole people” and their demands are not being made against a mayor, governor, or president but rather against every taxpayer.

Tales of American Miseducamation
There’s nothing wrong with America’s schools that a healthy infusion of common sense mixed with a little patriotism and honesty wouldn’t cure.
The idea of patriotism, of course, has long been passe’ if not considered outright sedition in the liberal establishment that pretends to educate America’s children under the aegis of the ultra-liberal National Education Association which values self-esteem and such policies as diversity and multi-culturalism over actual learning.
Back in November, school officials at the Denair Middle School in California determined that 13 year old Cody Alicea could no longer fly the American flag on his bike which he had been doing to demonstrate his love of country and his appreciation of his grandfather’s service to the nation. Their reasoning? Other students complained and Cody’s showing of the colors could inflame them.
You see, as Denair school superintendent Edward Parraz explained, he was concerned about student safety. He “asked the boy to remove the flag to avoid ‘racial tension’ that he felt would inevitably result from Hispanic students responding to the American flag with their own Mexican flags” which could result in, horror of horrors, “other students bringing even more American flags:” http://tiny.cc/zhnw6
Before you knew it, students could actually join young Cody in his patriotic fervor!
The good news is that Superintendant Parraz got his comeuppance, along with a reminder of what country he lived in, when protests hit the fan and a horde of flag-bedecked bikers escorted Cody to school. See a video of Cody and his biker supporters here: http://tiny.cc/hl3r7
Parraz soon rescinded his flag prohibition under duress. He may get an NEA letter in his file.

. . . It’s admirable Christian charity to feed the hungry and poor, no? Jesus Christ said as much on his Sermon on the Mount, no? Well, no, at least not in Houston.
There, ”Bobby and Amanda Herring spent more than a year providing food to homeless people in downtown Houston every day. They fed them, left behind no trash and doled out warm meals peacefully without a single crime being committed, Bobby Herring said.”
The Houston city fathers and mothers not only ”shut down their ‘Feed a Friend’ effort for lack of a permit. To rub salt into poor wounds, “city officials say the couple most likely will not be able to obtain one because “To get that permit, the food must be prepared in a certified kitchen with a certified food manager:” http://tiny.cc/9k1s2
Lesson learned: As per Marie Antonette, Let them eat cake! as long as the cake is baked in a Houston-approved bakery.
Not to be outdone in the Texas idiocy department, the Dallas and other Texas school districts have effectively and cravenly abnegated their responsibility to enforce discipline by converting recalcitrant elementary school kids into criminals.
A study has shown that, aided and abetted by the legal system, ”Young students, including a six year old in Dallas, received class C misdemeanor tickets for things like disrupting class, leaving school early and school yard brawls that didn’t include weapons. . . Over the course of five years, more than 1200 elementary students in DISD received a ticket:” http://tiny.cc/3wkso

School Daze Revisited
Ever since the educational halcyon days of readin’, writin’, and ‘rithmatic, people have been trying to improve on American education. Those efforts, those “improvements,” most often involved sociological experiments rather than pedagogical advancements and the results are what we have today.
Thanks to the National Education Association, the NEA, we now have millions of kids with great self esteem and a keen awareness of the necessity of diversity and the evils of America but with ever-decreasing capacities for reading, writing, and counting.
“Misedumacation” is gaining supremacy in America’s classrooms.
Fear not, however. To the rescue comes government.
Movements are afoot to initiate all new educational standards . . .

America’s public schools haven’t merely been falling behind. They’re in a freefall compared to other nations, including “developing” nations such as Slovakia, et al. which, almost literally, don’t have a pot to pee in but yet succeed in educating kids far better than we do.
Thing is, it’s not news simply because it’s been going on for a few generations now and, if anyone noticed, they haven’t said much about it and those who try to say much about it are derided as simpleton reactionaries.
The causes of the misedumacation going on in most schools today aren’t complex. They can easily be pinned on the National Education Association, the NEA, which says on its website that, “We’re Fighting for the Right to a Great Public School” when, in fact, it has been the major force behind diluting curriculum, undermining traditional values, endorsing and promoting liberal thought, and pushing diversity, all at the cost of abandoning the primary role of public schools, to provide a good, fundamental education. . .

Multiculturalism = Mediocrity
“Multiculturalism is the acceptance or promotion of multiple ethnic cultures, for practical reasons and/or for the sake of diversity and applied to the demographic make-up of a specific place, . . . multiculturalists advocate extending equitable status to distinct ethnic and religious groups without promoting any specific ethnic, religious, and/or cultural community values as central:” Wikipedia
All that gobbledegook regarding the multisyllabic, favorite liberal buzzword of multiculturalism can be reduced to a simple declarative sentence: It’s a plan to cultivate mediocrity.
As so many left wing precepts, it all sounds very nice in principle; in practice, it’s a dud that, applied to education, fosters the idea that a Tower of Babel is preferable to towers of learning. In its effort to promote many cultures, it serves to denigrate America’s “central” values.
Take Berkeley High School, located in the belly of the beast, Berkeley, California, home to U.C. Berkeley, possibly the most leftist-infested institution of higher learning in the country.
With that influence so close by and pervasive, perhaps it’s no wonder . . .

He was “very, very mean,” “bossy,” an all around “bad guy.”
No, I’m not talking about your junior high gym teacher, or Jon Corzine, Phil Spector, or Roman Polanski. I’m talking about the man who discovered America in 1492, Christopher Columbus.
That invective is just part of the Politically Correct drivel which, along with the “Umm, Umm, Umm, Barack Hussein Obama” paean to our leader’s greatness, is being drilled into the heads of impressionable kids today by teachers who have been taught to propagandize according to National Education Association standards.
Of course, the explorer from Genoa didn’t really “discover” America. It was never lost and the still un-named continent was already inhabited by native peoples who had discovered it eons before and those noble savages had been busily hunting and warring on it ever since.
After teachers get finished with them, kids come away “with a more nuanced picture of Columbus than the noble discoverer often portrayed in pop culture and legend:” http://bit.ly/4eRath
That’s saying a mouthful!
The nuances include Columbus’ failures, getting lost searching for the Indies, “the suffering of indigenous populations,” their decimation by diseases brought by future settlers, and generally making life awful for the “Indians” who preferred their ancient lifestyle and teepees to the thought of European culture.
Needless to say, the federal Department of Education . . .

Speech is Free, If You Agree
Public school teachers are notoriously liberal as are former school teachers who move on up the career ladder to become adminstrators. Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach; those who can’t teach become administrators.
I knew one guy who went to the principal to beg to get out of the classroom before he killed some of the kids. They created an administrative post for him, Liaison to Cafeteria Staff. Seriously!
Teacher liberalism comes from the top down, starting with the educational arm of the Democratic Party, the ultra-leftist National Education Association.
As with states and municipalities controlled by liberals which are rapidly going bankrupt, under NEA guidance, our schools have been morally bankrupt for generations, in part due to the NEA abortion stance.
Pedagogy has been sent to the back of the room and indoctrination has become the primary focus of our educational system, and our kids show it.
The NEA euphemistically calls abortion a ”reproductive right” although how advocating the killing of pre-born infants in any way relates to reproduction baffles me.

One revelation in that report: The NEA has established “an annual fund of $50,000 in grants to pro-abortion advocates across the nation. The NEA promised to award this amount in grants every year until passage of the Freedom of Choice Act.” That funding began 17 years ago. I’m guessing it has grown tenfold in the interim.
To buck the NEA, liberal party line on any issue could bring on the wrath of superiors or, at the minimum, disdain and shunning; to endorse the pro-life position in schools is tantamount to heresy. Still, some “educators” go overboard.
Such was the case of a 7th grader at McSwain Elementary School in Merced, California who had the audacity to assert her First Amendment rights to free speech by wearing a pro-life T-shirt in a pro-abortion venue, namely a public school.
The shirt depicted the 3 stages of an aborted infant’s abbreviated life in utero with the words, “Going, Growing, Gone.” There was no blood, gore, or violence pictured, . . .

NOW THEY WANT YOUR TODDLERS!
PUBLIC EDUCATORS NOW WANT YOUR TODDLERS
Having succeeded in virtually wrecking the American public education system, the American Federation of Teachers, AFT, partners with the National Education Association, NEA, now wants to work on America’s toddlers.
Although technically separate organizations, the AFT and the larger NEA hooked up, partnered, some years back since they are mirror images of one another in terms of common goals, philosophies, and “projects,” (http://www.nea.org/aboutnea/NEAFTPartnership.html), point being that anything said about the AFT applies equally to the NEA.

Now, AFT President Randi Weingarten has announced that her group wants to reach out and do unto toddlers, three year olds, what they’ve been doing to older kids for decades, namely indoctrinating rather than teaching them.
Needless to say, she doesn’t spell out the AFT’s intent in quite those many words. Instead, Ms. Weingarten says, “The research is completely conclusive of the issue that our brains develop faster between birth and five years old than they do pretty much at any other time,” which is probably true.
As the Big Bad Wolf would put it, an apt metaphor for the AFT and the NEA, “Better to propagandize you, my little dears.”
Weingarten concedes that kids, (babies, actually, at age three), would be better off in their home environments but “some” don’t have “good” homes. Therefore, her illogical conclusion is that all three year olds should be in school where greater “opportunity” can be presented to them.
May God forbid that any kids be home-schooled since that abominable concept has long been considered anathema to the AFT/NEA and almost the equivalent of child abuse!
Weingarten is seconded by former Assistant Education Secretary Susan Neuman who also presents the case that “most of our children need child care, regardless” but it should be in a “quality environment.”
It’s unclear if Ms. Neuman was issuing notice to the AFT/NEA that lax child care would be unacceptable.
It’s an unfortunate fact of American life today that, in order to provide a good and comfortable home, even with families with with two parents, both often have to work outside the home.
Weingarten is using that fact of life to make her case for our public educational system to get its clutches on younger and younger kids. It began with full day kindergarten, progressed to pre-K “education” and is now focused on pre-pre-K children.
That progression has two aims in mind. There’s the obvious goal of creating more jobs, and a greater membership, for the AFT/NEA, and the less obvious purpose of molding the minds of three year old babies.
That “molding,” as noted in previous articles, incorporates such ideas as creating acceptance of diversity, especially acceptance of homosexuality as simply a variation from the norm, and inculcating socialist, Democratic Party principles.

So, here we are, America. We have a proven failed educational system run by the AFT/NEA which now aims to expand that failure to toddlers.
As the song goes, “When will we ever learn, when will we everrr learn?”
