The Joy of Creeping Corruption
When the late economist-philosopher Friedrich Hayek coined the term “creeping socialism” in The Road to Serfdom, he couldn’t have envisioned the great socialist leap forward this America has witnessed under President Barack Hussein Obama. To complement the soaring socialism, Obama and his administration are now proving they are as guilty of creeping corruption as they are of perpetrating socialistic schemes.
It may all be a good thing.
In 2008, Obama was painted by his mainstream media as Mr. Clean, free of political contamination perhaps in part because he was so inexperienced in politics, and in everything else except community organizing. Perhaps, too, that cleanliness feature was on the mind of then-Senator Joe Biden when he described his future boss as “bright and clean.”
For the most part, the president somehow eluded significant scandal for two years but in the third year of his reign the dirt has hit the executive fan big time.
To be sure, there were relatively minor dings in Obama’s armor during his first two years. However, the out-of-control EPA and TSA, the WikiLeaks leaks, the black racism demonstrated at Eric Holder’s Justice Department, etc. and Obama’s scandalous mishandling of the economy weren’t comparable in gravity to the overt instances of corruption playing out now in both the White House and DoJ.
First came the “Fast and Furious” fiasco, the botched gun-running sting which resulted in the ATF furnishing some 1500 weapons to Mexican cartels which were then used to kill a U.S. border patrol agent and in countless crimes south of the border rather than achieving the planned aim of arresting Mexican criminals.
Close on the heels of Operation Fast and Furious came the Solyndra and LightSquared messes, the administration’s favoritism toward so-called “green” companies. Playing favorites is a time-honored if sleazy feature of politics but when the administration wasted hundreds of millions of dollars of scarce taxpayer money and the good buddies repaid that largesse by generously funneling millions back to Obama’s campaign war chest, favoritism entered the realm of impeachable corruption.
If anything, the corruptive nature of the LightSquared seamy involvement with the presidency actually eclipsed the Solyndra boondoggle.
What may turn out to be the ultimate irony in the deceit, misrepresentations, and outright lies of Eric Holder and Barack Obama relating to the administration’s growing record of corruption is the fact that most of it was avoidable had the president not adopted the Nixonian approach to being caught: deny, deny, and deny again. . .

It's Not Easy Being White Today
In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his justly-famous “I Have a Dream Speech” from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in which he spoke the inspirational words, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Widely described as a defining moment in the Civil Rights movement, almost half a century later, America’s first (semi-) black president has re-defined that moment and has made a mockery of King’s speech and those words in the process.
Barack Hussein Obama capped off two and a half years of racially-applied justice, demonstrably black favoritism, and expressions of anti-white sentiments by issuing an executive order convolutely entitled, “Establishing a Coordinated Government-wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce.”
The stated purpose of the order is “to promote the federal workplace as a model of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion.”
As Kermit the Frog is wont to moan, “It’s not easy being green.” It’s also not easy being white in Barack Hussein Obama’s America. The Washington Times clarified the White House directive in an editorial: “Whites need not apply” when it comes to employment with the nation’s largest employer. (http://bit.ly/qzYpGM)
The Times elaborated by pointing out that the ”diversity the government is seeking is not diversity of ideas, outlooks or work experiences. In contemporary political parlance, ‘diversity’ refers primarily to the color of one’s skin and not the content of one’s character” as evidenced by details in the executive order. It incorporates such language as, the federal government “must create a culture that encourages collaboration, flexibility and fairness to enable individuals to participate to their full potential.”
However, in a bald-faced effort to tilt the playing field, “the government will intensify programs that discriminate against white Americans by extending special privileges to everyone else.” Laughably, ”The order also says that ‘attaining a diverse, qualified workforce is one of the cornerstones of the merit-based civil service,’ ” while abandoning even the semblance of a fair meritocracy.
The executive order was issued in absentia by the president; he was busily conducting the nation’s business from afar in Martha’s Vineyard where he could escape some of the reaction and political brickbats. Nevertheless, it effectively negates the import and spirit of King’s 1963 speech as well as make the feds the nation’s prime agency of discrimination.
Our federal government–virtually the only employer hiring in D.C.–will now hire exclusively on the bases of “diversity and inclusion,” code for skin color, a factor King felt abhorrent. By presidential decree, their character content and qualifications be damned.
The government initiative is all the more startling, and ironic, in that it was announced during the same week a black congressional Democrat who holds office primarily because she is black went on an unholy rant against her (semi-) black, Democrat president. . .

Contemptible Quickies #4
The motto of JudicialWatch.com is that “No one is above the law,” and that includes, especially includes, politicians who may write our federal laws but often think they’re exempt from them.
Someone has to do it, so Judicial Watch keeps an annual tally of the “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” on the federal landscape and none other than Connecticut’s Sen. Chris Dodd makes the list for the second year running.
Feeling the hounds nipping at his heels, Dodd has already announced his retirement to avoid the humiliation of being thrown out of office by voters fed up to here with his shady machinations and for milking the system ’til it was dry.
The 10 winners/losers in alphabetical order are . . .

How the Mighty Have Fallen
Dynasties, much like indigestion or honesty in the Obama administration, tend to come and go.
Egypt recorded no fewer than 31 dynasties, China a paltry 13, and even Somalia, Tonga, Myanmar, and dozens of other nations and regions have weighed in with their minimalist dynastic periods.
The United States, by virtue of our democratic republican form of government and sense of political values, has always looked askance at the concept of one family exercising prolonged rule, except maybe on the local level of late.
What some call America’s first family and others call America’s royalty, the Kennedys, epitomized by patriarch Joe and his three sons, are the closest we’ve come to anything approximating a national dynasty with various members in politics countrywide.
The Clintons would love to follow suit but needed more progeny, and more class, to get anywhere, dynastic-wise.
A local dynasty founded by former Democratic Congressman William Jennings Jefferson rose out out of the New Orleans Bayou to become a Jeffersonian dynasty which recently has met its Waterloo on the Bayou.
That Jeffersonian Dynasty was never much of a dynasty by Egyptian and Chinese standards, . . .
