Black Reparations and Other Insanities

Black Reparations and Other Insanities

In an ideal world, all people would have sufficient food to eat, a good roof over their heads, and a decent life.

They would enjoy freedom from want and from fear, freedom of speech and expression, freedom to worship or not worship as they pleased, essentially FDR’s “Four Freedoms” as delineated in January, 1941 toward the end of the Great Depresssion and eleven months before Pearl Harbor, both of which changed everything.

Today, 70 years later, those freedoms are largely commonplace, taken for granted in America and largely elusive in much of the world for various reasons, yet Americans, to their credit for the most part, still strive for more, for perfection. At the same time, some Americans and international institutions of which we are a part are attempting to reverse our good fortune achieved through hard work, diligence, and dedication.

In a perfect American world, we would enjoy all the benefits of the Four Freedoms, with enhancements: All politicians would be honest and trustworthy, we would have a standing rib roast in every oven instead of just a chicken in every pot, we would have a new Lexus or two in every garage in lieu of a 2004 Taurus and an even more ancient Civic, we would win the Lotto at least once in our lives, and we would eat all the cheeseburgers we wish and never get fat.

In President Barack Hussein Obama’s ultra-civil, post-racial brave new world, Lady O. has proclaimed Bill Clinton’s fav food of old, cheeseburgers, definitely out and the chances of those other items on Americans’ wish list being fulfilled are as likely as, well, an ultra-civil, post-racial brave new world. Our president’s favorite international institution, the United Nations, is well on its merry way of insuring those non-eventualities.

With undoubted enthusiastic support from Black America’s Man on the Scene, Michigan’s Democrat House representative for life, Rep. John Conyers, who has virtually dedicated his life to the cause of black reparations, the U.N. is in process of declaring open season on the world’s white inhabitants who just happen to be a minority in the hallowed halls on New York City’s East River.

Undeterred by his wife Monica’s bribery conviction two years ago or his own ethics charges, Conyers is waiting in the wings to again visit his raison d’ĂȘtre on white Americans for their vile crime of imposing slavery on “his” people. Never mind that any slavemaster is long dead as are any former slaves and that America fought a bloody, four-year war to free “his” people, Conyers still wants reparations.

The whole idea, which Conyers has advocated for more than 40 years and which he hopes can be accomplished “without allowing the issue to polarize our party or our nation,” fits in neatly with President Obama’s stated dream of “sharing the wealth.” Why would either Conyers or Obama even imagine that picking the pockets of white Americans to line the pockets of black Americans cause any polarization? . . .

Socialized Medicine and Presidential Intrigue

Socialized Medicine and Presidential Intrigue

As Republicans in the House struggle to scuttle, scrap, de-fund the national health care plan that 59% of Americans didn’t want in the first place, Democrats aren’t exactly sitting still and waiting for the ax to fall.

One Democrat, Rep. John Conyers (MI), Mr. Black Reparations, has obviously been deep in thought over Obamacare, so deep that he must have been barely conscious when he let slip what Democrats have been denying ever since the Obamanation was conceived. Usually more circumspect, the doddering Democrat Conyers must have been overcome by all the attention at the National Press Club when he conceded that, in fact, Obamacare was socialized medicine.

Conyers admitted that “Obamacare is just a ‘platform,’ or a step, toward an eventual government takeover of health care.” Asked if he ultimately envisioned a single-payer health care system, another term avoided like the plague and denied repeatedly by congressional Dems during the great debate of 2009, he said, “Of course. Universal health care–well, every industrial country on the planet already has a universal system of health care.”

What Conyers failed to mention was that the primary model for Obamacare, and it’s not Massachusetts’ Romneycare–although that’s bad enough–was Britain’s NHS which is going broke and systems in the other industrialized nations are in a similar pickle.

Nevertheless, kudos to Rep. Conyers even if his fleeting moment of honesty was a fluke. See his moment here: http://tiny.cc/5a1u0

No fluke is President Transparency’s latest attack of opaqueness.

Our vacationing, partying, golfing, basketball-playing, NCAA-tournament handicapping president is playing it very close to the executive vest when it comes to clandestine health care–don’t dare call it Obamacare to him!–meetings. . .

Slavery Reparations Part Two

Waiting in the Wings: Slavery “Reparations,” Part Two

Look, I’m as reasonable and equitable as the next guy.

I think everyone in the United States of America deserves an equal chance, at success in life, access to opportunities, and fair treatment by everyone else.

I even think the Chicago Cubs should win a pennant and a World Series, that is, if they ever again deserve to win a pennant and a Series. If not, Cubbie fans should switch to the Yankees.

That same thinking applies to Black, Yellow, Green, and Purple Americans: When they merit success, a win, based on their abilities, talents and exertions, then I wish them the absolute best.

However, no matter your race, I have an odd thought quirk. I think that if you expect a free ride, if you’re a Black expecting to suckle on a White breast, call it reparations, and thereby prosper in American society, you’re suckling the wrong breast and humping the wrong dog.

That mistaken suckling/humping is the chief fallacy of so-called slavery reparations.

Rep. John Conyers has been tooting the slavery reparations horn for 40 years. (See “Waiting . . . Part one:” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=1235.)

Let’s assume Conyers gets his heart’s desire with the minefield of reparations and White Americans are penalized/taxed/punished for a crime they didn’t commit, unless, of course, they are at least 146 years old and as infants trained under Simon Legree.

Other minefield issues:

Shouldn’t only 146 year old, or older, Black Americans be eligible for reparations?

Wouldn’t it also be fair that Blacks would be taxed since many freed Blacks were known to be slave owners themselves? See http://bit.ly/2NOpLC and http://bit.ly/1wh8f8.)

Since it was mostly African chieftains who sold their brothers and sisters into slavery, should not a measure of responsibility be assigned to the descendants of those tribal leaders in various nations throughout Africa?

Those little known and ignored truths would make things a tad confusing for the reparationists, that is, Blacks taxed to pay reparations to Blacks and asking people yet living in huts with no running water, such as our president’s half brother, to pay up so that African Americans could have a second wide-screen tv.

Maybe Conyers could figure a scheme whereby only a certain percentage would be penalized?

Another dilemma would be what to do for the descendants of the thousands of Irish, Scots, and Germans imported to our shores as indentured servants, a euphemism for slaves. Do they get a share of the reparation pie?

Then there’s . . .

Slavery Reparations, Part One

Waiting in the Wings, Slavery “Reparations:” Part One

With all the sturm und drang, in a word, the uproar sweeping the nation over health care, national defense, taxes, illegals, make no mistake that another storm and more stress are a-brewing and will be visited on Americans if and when the current storms subside: reparations for slavery.

Reparations are the raison d’ĂȘtre for powerful Michigan Democrat, Rep. John Conyers, second longest-serving House member and currently Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

For the inquisitive, such posts are awarded on the basis of seniority and longevity and Black pols who bring home the chittlins tend to be re-elected ad infinitum.

Think Reps. John Dingell, (D. MI), and Charley Rangel, (D. NY).

One has to wonder if that system should be changed when career minority politicians are effectively governing the majority of Americans, but that’s just an aside.

Rep. Conyers has dedicated his life to seeking reparations and was un-deterred in that goal even after his wife, Monica, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery in June.

Monica may be facing 5 years in the slammer, http://bit.ly/Batmq, but there are some things more important in life than bribery convictions or various charges of unethical activities against hubby, John.

Foremost is forcing White Americans in the twenty-first century to compensate Black Americans living in this century for cultural sins committed by White, and Black, Americans in the form of slavery, from the sixteenth though the nineteenth centuries. . . .
