The OWS and the Sin of Presumption

At one time or another, most of us assume and presume too much but few of us ever envision the United States of America collapsing as a great nation. Historically, such a presumption was not uncommon.




The thought of ancient Rome being overrun by barbarians had to have been unfathomable to the average Roman in the street, until it happened.



The idea that Russians would be ruled by Lenin and his Bolsheviks after Czar Nicholas II must have seemed beyond the pale of believability, until it happened.



Most Germans were unaware that Adolph Hitler would initiate one of the most brutal genocides in human history and precipitate a world war leading to Germany’s near-extinction, until it happened.



And, thanks in large part to the complicity of the mainstream media which prefer to liberally slant news and ignore what is the most dire threat to America’s existence since Hitler and the USSR, the presumption that we will survive the insidious Occupy Wall Street movement aimed at undermining the capitalist foundations of our prosperity and success, could very well come to fruition in the not too distant future.



The mortal sin of presumption is a Roman Catholic doctrine which essentially holds that to arrogantly believe and trust in one’s own merits to the exclusion of any divine intercession can lead to salvation is the road to perdition.



Whether or not Americans accept that religious teaching, vainly presuming the United States will exist indefinitely, that we as a country are immune to forces which can effect our dissolution, that we are impervious to external and internal threats, is not only presumptuous but reflects a dangerous ignorance of the history of all great nations and empires.



Those nations and empires have had an average life-span of two centuries. As of 2012, the U.S.A. will be 223 years old.



The reality of presumption, that Americans and America will continue to regard the OWS, the Occupiers of Wall Street and everything else they choose to occupy, destroy, and desecrate as just another protest group, is beyond foolhardy. In fact, they are busily plotting the overthrow of government and institutions which have served us, never perfectly, but satisfactorily, for centuries.

The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. was a complex man, to say the least. Now he’s a monumental man.

Despised and investigated by J. Edgar Hoover for a variety of anti-American activities, idolized by his followers for his struggles on behalf of African-Americans, held in contempt by Jackie Kennedy, unparalled leader of the Civil Rights Movement, MLK now has an imposing monument on four acres erected in his honor on the Washington Mall.

The controversial 30 foot, 16 ton Chinese-sculpted statue, 11 feet taller than the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, was 20 years in the making at a cost of some $120 million. It was finally dedicated on October 16th after an earthquake and Hurricane Irene spoiled the planned opening on the anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Another earthquake of controversy ensued following the dedication. Among other critics, some objected to the failure to incorporate reference to God anywhere on a memorial to a Baptist minister and poet Maya Angelou contended the main inscription on the Buddha-esque monument “makes Dr. Martin Luther King look like an arrogant twit.”

The abbreviated King quotation reads, ”I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.” More than twittish arrogance, the words create the image of a drum and bugle corps leader.

In an startlingly frank article on the Dream speech and the monument by an African-American columnist, Robert E. Pierre observes that King might not recognize either the monument inscription or himself today based on that inscription.

Newsday titled the publication of Pierre’s piece in its printed edition, “Let Memorial Stand for the Real MLK.” Online, Newsday re-titled the article, ”Pierre: Recalling MLK the Revolutionary,” a more accurate representation, more reflective of who and what Rev. As Pierre points out, the “content of their character” and “table of brotherhood” parts of King’s “Dream” speech were secondary to his incitement to revolution and his ominous prediction that “The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.”

He’s right. There’s not much character content and brotherhood associated with violent revolutions nor in King’s acknowledged Communist sympathies.

Pierre does mention that little-known facet of King’s career but fails to comment on the minister’s womanizing, the reasons J. Edgar considered him a national security threat, or how MLK’s supporters pressured federal and state legislators into declaring the only national holiday honoring an individual American. (Washington and Lincoln were lumped together in “President’s Day” in 1971.)

May Day and the Communist SEIU

May Day, the first day of the merry month of May, was once best known as the day of spring festivals, but that was in long ago and far away places. It is also the day which Catholics devote to the Blessed Virgin and offer prayerful festivities in her honor.

Last century, May Day became synonymous with a celebration of communists, anarchists, and socialists orchestrated by the U.S.S.R. to give their worker-drones a rare day off and the illusion that they mattered. Attended by massive parades in which the Soviets exhibited the weaponry with which it swore to bury the United States and the West, May Day is still associated with communists who today swear to subvert, corrupt, and destroy the U.S. and Western democracies as they now exist.

Most American organizations eschew the communist label because of the unsavory history of that group although many organizations profess the same subversive beliefs as communists and employ similar tactics and strategies to collectivize America and undermine our institutions.

Communism in the United States isn’t dead. It has simply retreated into the closet.

With 1.8 million members, the powerful Service Employees International Union, the SEIU, is one of the fastest-growing unions in America although it hasn’t yet flown the communist banner but it doesn’t have to.

Established in 1921 as the BSEIU and representing those employed in health care, (hospital and nursing home workers), public service employees, (local and state government employees), and property service workers, (janitors and security officers), the SEIU has become a formidable force on the American labor–and political– scenes.

An early and committed supporter of the candidacy of Barack Hussein Obama in 2008, the SEIU exercised its political power during that campaign mainly through thuggery and intimidation. Following those strong arm successes, the union repeated the tactics at town hall meetings in 2009 for which numerous SEIU enforcers were arrested. Michelle Malkin has aptly described its shock troop tactics as “the persuasion of power.”

It’s a persuasion and influence they achieve not only by raw violence but by the happenstance that SEIU members calibrate and maintain voting machines in various localities.

The union was richly rewarded for its unstinting support and “persuasion” by being granted virtually unlimited access to the White House in the person of its former president, Andy Stern. Precisely what Stern discussed with Obama and Obamian functionaries and lackeys has not been disclosed. Based on the SEIU and Obama’s history, none of it could have been good for the country.

Uncle Teddy, Liberal Lion, Rake, Snake

You can lead a guy out of a tidal channel but you can’t make him drink.

That makes as much sense as sanctifying a murderer and treating him as God’s gift to America. I refer, of course, to the late Sen. Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy.

Before I’m accused of gross insensitivity and needless abuse for telling the truth about Uncle Teddy, it should be noted that barely a year after the liberal lion passed from this mortal world to the Great Beyond–and 40 years after he sent Mary Jo Kopechne on that journey– failed liberal President Jimmy Carter lambasted him as “irresponsible,” ”abusive,” and spiteful in an interview with CBS’ Lesley Stahl: http://tiny.cc/73zrr

The truth should be an improvement on that harsh evaluation, even if it is not. Now, true, Ted was never convicted of murdering 28 year old Mary Jo. He merely got drunk, drove off the Dike Bridge into Chappaquiddick’s Poucha Pond, and swam away to save his own life and political career. In Kennedy’s Massachusetts, that’s totally forgivable.

Also forgivable as perfectly in character is that, according to just de-classified FBI files, Ted rented a brothel while on an official visit to Chile in 1961 and invited one of his chauffeurs to participate in the night’s debauchery. If nothing else, Ted was always Ted.

What can’t be forgiven the Lion of the Senate is the revelation in those files that Kennedy didn’t just satisfy his lustful besottment on that excursion. . .
